I have plans to hire employees for customer service for my company based in Middle-east. Recently, I hired one filipina who works from home for 4 hrs a day for 10k pesos per month. The skill set that I need is basic customer service, scheduling, social media campaigns etc. I must say that she is really good at her work.

As a filipino, I can verify that with the skill set you are looking for, you are underpaying this woman.

Creating a list of very specific questions towards skills and personal growth can really help in the hiring process. Get to know your applicants attitude towards specific situations, and learn their capabilities.

Kudos for getting through to a better employer you. I hope Dain and people like him learned a lesson. People don't realize how fortunate they are to get a job (small and big) or to be entrusted to do something that would expand their experience. It's very rare to find honest people these days no matter what nationality, when you do, you gotta treasure them even if they make mistakes because honest people are sure to do what is right even if they're not always good at what they do. BTW, I'm a Filipino working for a European company (online) for over ten years now. My secret to successful and peaceful career is honesty. :)

Your mistake is in not giving them equitable salaries for the work that they do for you. You say you are giving them work. Fine. You project yourself as some knight in shining armor. But the truth is, you are taking too much advantage of the situation here in the country. Share a teeny weeny bit from your huge income. What is 200 or 300 dollars raise to their 400 dollars you pay them compared to perhaps 5 or 6 thousand or more dollars monthly salary for US workers who would do similar work? You are not paying mandated additional benefits or bonuses for them are you?. You say it is business. Well, you can do business without being a blood sucker. Share.

I’ve heard this argument. But my company could not exist. I would have never hire an employee for that much.
When I found people that were pleading for me to pay them $300 and I offered them $400, it allowed me to create a service never before possible.

@@OutsourcingInsider Just give them their raise period. No amount of your explanation will ever justify the disparity of their work vs their compensation. If you are a respectable and caring employer as you project, you should be sensitive and sensible enough to know that they need to live also not as how rich or comfortable as you are but just enough to enjoy living with a better income. Remember this, they are not asking for the heavens. Just enough will do. The founder of Marriot Hotels, Mr. J. Willard Marriott said, "Take care of your people and they will take care of your customers."

@@hagarragah5640 Our editor gets more higher income than most of us and that's fine. I think Dain is just smart condensing the 160hrs work load into 80hrs.. That sounds fair to me.. I could pay him 700-1k dollars a month as long as he delivers quality project on time and can be supervised a bit..

Communists party like employees still exists in the Philippines and sadly, if you don't check their former companies or what company did they came from, you'll be infiltrated. Get their certificate of employment (COE)from the previous companies and check their productivity, attitude, red flags, bad habits, etc.
And they want an equal share, gradually at first, they will convince you a raise, the next thing you know is they got your own company. They got all of your ideas, connections, competitors, banks, clients, your privacy.
And one more thing, do not hire family related members, relatives or your employees' friends to be your employees. Many cover ups will be made.

The one that asking for advance payment is a group of scammers, a real worker dont do that. They wait for their salary in 15 days or a month.

Its vey simple to hire man power from that country.. what you do in america is just like what you should do with them set boundaries, follow the government rules. The only difference is the salary.. their salary worth some when they send it back home to their country and im telling you they are satisfied as long as they still have the budget they need to live in here while the remaining they send it to their country!
