Reason No. 8 - Generally we Filipinos don't compete with our employers once we decide to do business on our own so employers need not worry about giving trade secrets during the course of employment. It's a Filipino value called "debt of gratitude" that's generally frowned upon if not observed. That goes with the loyalty-to-employer trait. Plus, we are not as entrepreneurial as the Indians.
Which is kinda of bad really.
@@sfv6 Depending on how you'd want to view it. It's a case of a glass that may be viewed as either half-full or half-empty. When everyone becomes an entrepreneur, labor costs will skyrocket, making the Philippines less attractive for investors. A gradual shift would be ideal.
This is great! I'm a virtual assistant from the Philippines and I was just curious how it is on the flipside. :D
I think what foreigners don't know is that Filipinos are very emotional and very appreciative. We thrive with a good environment and when we are complimented for the tasks done. We love flexibility (time) more than the actual rate! This is because we really value family time and if we can provide for our families, and have a steady job, we can go above and beyond our work.

I started this VA business back in 2008 and at that time there were very few VAs. The hard part during those years was collection. But now it has mushroomed all over the Philippines... So after working in the call center then comes the VA. Thanks, Becca Martin for sharing this info.

Cos of living is actually high in the capital region in the PH. The main reason they take the low rate is because there are not a lot of options. The WFH is a great factor as well, it’s a great plus when they don’t have to battle the traffic

I am a virtual assistant since 2013 for a NY based kitchen and bath company. As an industrial engineer I have never thought I would end up designing kitchens. But I love it and the pay is incredible. ❤️

Actually 5 USD is NOT a lot of money here in the PH. It certainly does not go a "very very long way". Let's keep in mind this is just the gross pay too.
Upwards of 6-7USD, probably may be considered sufficient to live on, depending on what part of the country you're in as there are also different regions/cities/provinces here with varying living costs. Also depending on your relationship/family situation.
The reason why a lot of filipinos though would still accept this salary is because most of them may not have better job opportunities, some would rather stay at home working and a lot of filipinos are very good in budgeting, and they dont complain a lot.
I'm sometimes flabbergasted by job ads where foreigners are looking for Experienced remote workers but then offer only 3-5USD per hour, without any benefits plus they have to work on a night shift! Plus they have to use their own equipment/electricity/wifi to do the work. Usually night-shift jobs should have a premium.
Filipinos are talented and relatively "low-cost" but let's not take too much advantage of this.

Kaso kapos at maaga akong iniwanan.Ngayon akoa ay hirap sa wika nayan,lahat nalang na aaplayan ko dapat English ang gamit para ma hire.

Bicca its not that we Filipinos are bragging because we can speak better english its because our education and the form of our government is pattern in America our school medium of instruction are all in english language sometime some of us Filipinos could express ourselves better us using english than our local language thanks for positive view about us but we are not perfect there are also bad tomatoes in the basket...
You seem to forget the westernised thinking of Fils.. By the way, the constitution, codes and periodicals are in English.
Why Not try Koreans I just watched a lady on a tv program mocking Philippines English

He was being sarcastic. Don’t waste your time looking for Koreans who can speak good English. They would be few and far between and would be educated in an English-speaking country or the Philippines.
In my experience in bach of my schol year ....many student cant speak pointly of english accsent ...even his graduated in high school ...to the point ...more new generation of this time is lock of inglish language...ph is not good for inglish in my opinion
