Epiphone Casino [ I got influenced by Rhett Shull ]

- Yeah, I know.. This guitar is close to impossible to get right now. We have to blame the incredibly popular Beatles documentary "Get Back" for that.
After watching Rhett Shull's video of the Casino I went to town to try and pick one up.
After searching dusins of websites and used marked in my country I almost gave up. At my last effort I contacted my favorite dealer in Holland over their chat, and I kid you not - they had just got a used one from 2019 in, not even online yet. It seriously felt like I hit the jackpot. I of course ordered it right away. And all I can say is, that I'm glad I did.
This guitar is incredible in every way. I really wasn't expecting much tbh. But the fit and finish, playability and sound is like nothing else I've tried in this price range. This guitar is very inspiring to play, and does cover a lot of ground for me. Any way here are some tones for you, I hope you will enjoy.

Sounds great! I was fortunate to get a Casino right before the Get Back documentary came out. Mine is a 2003...love it! They're great guitars!
They really are! I’m curious how different they might be given that yours is such an early model.
Welcome to the can't put it down Casino club.....had mine since last summer and seriously...after some bone nut upgrades and a setup it's taken over as my number 1 guitar and at this point, I couldn't part with it.....gets me right where I want to be. P90s have such sensitive dynamics....cleans up at 7 and breaks up like cream when you dime it.
I have an Epi es335 and a casino - and if choose the Casino any day of the week. I prefer the hollow body vs semi and prefer the p90s over the humbuckers.
It seems mine has been upgraded with a bone nut as well by the previous owner, and it really does sound and play amazingly. I might change the pickups to get a little more clarity out of it - but it’s not necessity at all, I do love it as is.
@@ChrisEffort I have a Casino worn Olive Drab. It’s a cheaper model than the one you have. Yes the pickups are muddy, but then if they all played the same there would be no reason to have 20 guitars🤦♂️

@@ChrisEffort Chris I've found putting a Boss GE7 EQ pedal in line with the Casino you can dial in all the clarity you want and change the character of the P90s with a tap of the foot....highly recommend trying that before you feel you need a pickup swap...think you'll find it an amazing tonal dial beyond the tone pot on the guitar

Hey Chris, love your playing and your tones are so good and silky smooth. Would be great to see a video of what you use on your pedal board. I’m considering the Strymon Flint and also see you have a Nobles OD. Was that inspired by Uncle a Larry?
Thank you Paul. The flint is a mainstay on my board. I sold the Nobels - but yeah definitely an uncle Larry inspiration haha. I like the lightspeed and a boost more. I recently got an MXR micro amp plus, and they work incredibly together

It’s soo great. I’ve had mine for about a week, and I generally need about a month to decide wether I vibe with it or not, this was pretty instant love. The neck feels great too, I was a bit worried I wouldn’t like it.
@@ChrisEffort man I get it! The reason I stopped playing it was cause I didn’t vibe with it anymore. But what I like about it now is how it pushes my amp. But I still rarely play it. I play my 1988 Fender strat plus the most out of all my guitars

Out of curiosity, when you mic up your TM Deluxe, what wattage on the attenuator do you have it set to? Do you prefer close micing or do you distance it a bit? Sounds absolutely killer!
Thank you Dalton! I’m glad you liked it. I used the 5w setting close mic’ed with an sm57, just a tad beside the middle of the speaker cone. No additional EQ except a from a low cut around 80Hz and down. My recording room is terribly small so there’s a huge buildup in the low frequency spectrum.
