Exact same here. I got put into 5 stars and my friend into 3 stars. Now I always was a bit higher ranked than him but not this. And since the change we keep getting put into matches where every team has at least one 6 star player. And they just don’t miss, getting headshotted non-stop and are barely able to win a fight. This is just simply how MMR works. This is the feature, not a bug. You are a 5 star, so now you and all your 3 star friends have to fight 6 stars all day. don't complain or you just wanna farm weaker players all day. This is how it has always been and how it always will be in this game since you need a computer algorithm to tailor all your online experiences because dynamic experiences mean you may have a unique experience one round and that will trigger your anxiety so bad you have a panic attack.

So far this change has made a significant positive impact for me as 90% solo. My star rating isn’t going up and down all the time and I’m now reliably in games with other experienced players which is amazing.
5 star - I have 3k hours. Not especially good at the game but it definetely didn’t feel right being in games with new players who only had a handful of hours in the game. Since the change I seem to always be in games with people with similar game knowledge / experience
I have had so much less fun since coming back to the game. Honestly it doesn't feel more fair right now, I just get instant headshot by enemies now, or completely wipe the other team without even getting shot once. There is no in between. It's actually so much less fun right now. I've given it a month, and I just hate it.
my guess is you have a solid K/D/A I wouldn't worry about it until after you have had 200+ hours at that point you should see where you really sit. I have not seen mine but it's likely 4 with my 1.34 KDA
6 stars is 10 times as big now... if you played on high five or constantly had a positive impact on matches with varying players, you got into 6 stars. KDA does not neccessarely matter.
I really wish you could hide your MMR from the lobby, it leads to people quitting matches when they see your rank. Having MMR and a proper match making system is important but being able to see each other's ranks not so much.
Now that you're partnered I just want to take this moment to say that I called it back when you first started that you were going to take Home Reel's spot when he left the scene (to work with Crytek which is awesome for him!) and I am very close to being correct. I should have bet money on it!
I'm not one to call BS on anecdotal accounts, but this doesn't make any sense. If more people are in the 6 star bracket (proven by your magical transition from 4 > 6) then why would your matchmaking times be long? More players in the pool pretty much always results in shorter MM times.
@@murdurmuffin7872 It didn't make much sense to me either. But I literally couldn't find a match solo into trios. And solo/duo took 4 min or longer to find a match with only 6 other players. Random duo/trios still doesn't work, so finally had to go into hunt discord to get teammates, many of whom also woke up 6 stars and were getting clapped.
To be honest feels so weird to me i Swinged back and forth from 5* to 6* and now i'm "stuck" at high 5* with the MMR change i'm still placed at 5 wich is fine but i tried to go solo and all i find are 6* sweatlords Spitzer/Dolch not much a solo Crossbow can do.

Ive been learning mouse and keyboard with this game for 6 months. I’ve been from 3-5 stars up and down…Since the update I’ve had more competent random teammates and have ranked up consistently getting matched with three-star to four-star now five star players. I’m loving the update every game has been exciting but I’m also new to the game compared to others. But it’s nice seeing higher ranked teammates the better I do. At least that’s my experience.
Finally. I was telling Crytek on all channels since 2021 that soul survivor must not affect MMR for bounty hunt. it got abused big times. I have dozens of screenshots for proof. I also told them that an elo system like in chess where it's only a 1vs1 and counted points like that in scenarios where you have 2vs1vs3vs2vs2 with many different skill levels will never work in the first place. I got told by their lead designer to be "emotional" about it. Now they moved to a complete different program. Well, it looks like my 25 years of competitive online gaming experience is paying off and I actually talked more sense than a lead designer with little mulitplayer experience.
You people literally blow my mind. The best gaming ever in late 2000's like virtually zero games had MMR. There is absolutely no way an arbitrary computer algorithm is going to accurately determine a players skill. there is DEFINITELY no way an out of touch game dev will be able to do it. if you simply remove MMR, encounters and experiences go back to being dynamic and fun. it's as simple as that. no MMR needed but these companies will spend FORTUNES developing a system that only makes their game worse.
I hear what you’re saying, but many games in that era had lobby lists to pick from. I’d love a custom lobbies option. The challenge with hunt is without some consideration for skill level, newer players will have an absolutely trash experience since 5-6 stars can reliably 1v3 new players. Having no mmr is only really fun for the top half of the players. Without a reliable way to raise up new players, you’re guaranteeing a slow death to the game… which wasn’t a problem for most 2000’s games since they had a limited life anyway. For comparison, Halo 1, 2, and 3 all came out in a 6 year period. That’s as long as Hunt has been out. Player retention in that old model was releasing a sequel. Player retention for live service games is a different challenge entirely. Mmr will never be perfect, and I get the desire for no skill based match making. I feel like the decision around that has to do more with business than anything else. Unfortunately designers often have to sacrifice a lot of their preferences when giving a product to consumers, and this I think is likely one of those areas. For now at least soul survivor has no sbmm.

I'm older MMR 6 player, this week i've seen so many team mates, enemies that are obviously not been mmr6 before and i can guarantee you they don't play like they are on the highest level at all compared older mmr 6''s 💀

I have never deranked on purpose, but a huge problem I had with MMR system is that it was too easy to lose MMR and pretty hard to gain. For example: if you are 4-5 star player and for any reason you get killed by 3 star, you lose so much MMR that you need to get about 3+ kills in order to equalize that loss. That's mainly the reason why so many solo players are 3 or 4 stars, because dying and necroresing is common as solo. Which means you die more to less skilled players meaning you will stay at medium MMR forever. It's sad honestly because I like uneven fights, but only once I have been on 6 stars because as I said it's too easy to lose mmr than to gain one. I hope this matchmaking update changes that
If you are a 4 star, get killed by a 3 star and killing a 5 star get the same effect in oposite directions... The problem is exactly the WAY that MMR works in Hunt. They use MMR gains and losses based on whoo you kill or get killed. More than that... The MMR system is a total garbage and im not sure if this will help. 1- The time used to find partners / game is RIDICULOUS. They just throw you at whatever team and whatever lobbie. 2- Entering the game, you died like a potato, beucase you and your tem of 3 stars are alone in a full lobbie of 5 stars. 3- You can die over, and over and over again for a 5 star... Your MMR will stay at 3... 4- You can be a 2 star in a room with a 6 stars... What the odds of a 2 star killing a six star? Games with real MMR systems like Dota DONT allow you to play with/against people that are way better or worse than you and that alone improves the rank system a lot.
I'm not going to lie, this makes me really nervous. I've had 5 games that I absolutely loved playing get completely ruined by aggressive "skill based matchmaking" systems. I'm a player that enjoys both casual/social gaming and competitive "getting better is fun" gaming. I've seen systems like this ruin both kinds of experience, and I've watched these systems creep into more and more games over the last 5 years. At first I thought they'd be a good thing, a fair thing... but hundreds of hours of experience over multiple titles has proven to me that it's the worst trend to infect gaming since micro-transactions. What could be more counter to the spirit of playing a game than rigging matches? There's no guarantee Crytek will use OpenSkill to do this, but I've seen it happen too many times to not be worried.
Now Im stuck in 6 star hell where, and Im not exaggerating, there has only been 1 or 2 other teams in the match where just damn near everyone has above a 2KD and is using mosin spitz/dolch P FMJ. . .Im probably not going to play until the big update
This is how it has always been why are you just realizing this now? MMR is ONLY to manipulate your experience not improve it. it will be the same after the update unless enough players demand it gets removed altogether.
I really like the change, though I personally had a rough time. Took a 2 week break just to come back into high 5 star. I was NOT ready, especially as someone who mostly enjoys randoms matchmaking in trios. I ate crap for a whole day, then had to dip outta the house for the weekend. Didnt feel great lol

this has been our experience, my buddy is a 3 star who barely plays 1 day a week and I’m all of a sudden a 6 star and we get absolutely shredded so far im not liking the changes
I'm a mid to high 5 star player on a good day (good days aren't as common as I'd like) and my buddy and I have been stuck at 6 stars ever since this update. These players are too much for me, the queue times are long, and it won't let me drop rank 😭

Always felt nice knowing you were withing the top 0.2% of all players as a 6*, top 2% doesnt really have the same tone to it.. Although, I have seen alot bihher variations to whom I am matched with, beflre you could see the same people over and over again every day
I'm a solo maine and i'm about to stop playing too. It doesn't seem like they enjoy solos playing the game. It wouldn't surprise me if they completely removed the option to play as a solo soon.

3 star duos and 3 star solos now have the same mmr of 1.5. Idk what mmr the trios have that are now in duo queue but this doesnt feel like it works. Also they still use the same static image of the skill curve.
went to 6 stars. Shit is just a sweat fest. I am a damn good shot but I feel like I am against at least 1 GOD every match now. Sometimes my squad wins, mostly we get ripped apart.

I haven’t played hunt much recently but last weekend I didn’t like what I saw, I usually play on 5 star lobbies, but I was getting constant matches with teams with 4 to 6 star players, k/d 0.8 to 3.0, not really well balanced.
bought this game with a friend last weekend, we played about 3 hours together. We are getting killed left and right, its funny, but why are we entering matches with people that have 250k bounty ? 🤣 . Ill try it a bit more , give it a few games, but if it keeps doing the same shit im done. Its an ok game but yeah, not seeing any fun just being killed by people with max level while i still dont know most of the game .

From my understanding, it’s about killing higher ranked opponents. I think 4 star is 2300-2600 that’s the perimeter of 4 star. So even though your both 4 star, your going to come across high 4 star or low 4 star. When you kill a higher 4 star than you it increases significantly more than when you kill a lower 4 star than you. This is the same with being killed. That’s it in a nutshell. But that was the old system. I’d like to believe it’s the same but who knows
This change is completely broken in my oppinion, i have 2 accounts on hunt one main for normal games and one just for fun and mostly solo play, on main i am mostly around 5/6 stars but i was at 5 before the change and no after it i am at 6 stars. On the other account tho i was 4 stars and after the change i got dropped to 2 stars. I think that now its even more unbalanced than before. But it can be only my perspective about the changes to the mmr.

They are not, this update literally dropped randomly after server maintanance. And besides that. Crytek has been terrible in communication over the last year and these so called dev update videos have litterally been them repeating the same things in a slightly different way. No, it happend the background, and the new system is in effect. I know a number of 3-4 star players who didn't shift, and some that did. It all depends on where you were sitting in those old brackets, not everyone saw a change in their star rating.

You people literally blow my mind. The best gaming ever in late 2000's like virtually zero games had MMR. There is absolutely no way an arbitrary computer algorithm is going to accurately determine a players skill. there is DEFINITELY no way an out of touch game dev will be able to do it. if you simply remove MMR, encounters and experiences go back to being dynamic and fun. it's as simple as that. no MMR needed but these companies will spend FORTUNES developing a system that only makes their game worse.
I hear what you’re saying, but many games in that era had lobby lists to pick from. I’d love a custom lobbies option.
The challenge with hunt is without some consideration for skill level, newer players will have an absolutely trash experience since 5-6 stars can reliably 1v3 new players. Having no mmr is only really fun for the top half of the players. Without a reliable way to raise up new players, you’re guaranteeing a slow death to the game… which wasn’t a problem for most 2000’s games since they had a limited life anyway. For comparison, Halo 1, 2, and 3 all came out in a 6 year period. That’s as long as Hunt has been out.
Player retention in that old model was releasing a sequel. Player retention for live service games is a different challenge entirely.
Mmr will never be perfect, and I get the desire for no skill based match making. I feel like the decision around that has to do more with business than anything else. Unfortunately designers often have to sacrifice a lot of their preferences when giving a product to consumers, and this I think is likely one of those areas. For now at least soul survivor has no sbmm.
I did not want to be 6 star and here I am getting in the worst most boring bullshit matches. I personally feel as if they’ve destroyed matchmaking. My 2-3 Star friends don’t want to play with me anymore because of the matches it puts us in all because it gave me 6 stars. Absolutely terrible
I'm older MMR 6 player, this week i've seen so many team mates, enemies that are obviously not been mmr6 before and i can guarantee you they don't play like they are on the highest level at all compared older mmr 6''s 💀

Hey maybe if you get hired you can mention something about the matchmaking being shit. Been 3 days and it's still messed up. You couldn't pay me to work for cryotec and that one fallout dude.
I have never deranked on purpose, but a huge problem I had with MMR system is that it was too easy to lose MMR and pretty hard to gain. For example: if you are 4-5 star player and for any reason you get killed by 3 star, you lose so much MMR that you need to get about 3+ kills in order to equalize that loss. That's mainly the reason why so many solo players are 3 or 4 stars, because dying and necroresing is common as solo. Which means you die more to less skilled players meaning you will stay at medium MMR forever.
It's sad honestly because I like uneven fights, but only once I have been on 6 stars because as I said it's too easy to lose mmr than to gain one. I hope this matchmaking update changes that
If you are a 4 star, get killed by a 3 star and killing a 5 star get the same effect in oposite directions...
The problem is exactly the WAY that MMR works in Hunt. They use MMR gains and losses based on whoo you kill or get killed.
More than that... The MMR system is a total garbage and im not sure if this will help.
1- The time used to find partners / game is RIDICULOUS. They just throw you at whatever team and whatever lobbie.
2- Entering the game, you died like a potato, beucase you and your tem of 3 stars are alone in a full lobbie of 5 stars.
3- You can die over, and over and over again for a 5 star... Your MMR will stay at 3...
4- You can be a 2 star in a room with a 6 stars... What the odds of a 2 star killing a six star?
Games with real MMR systems like Dota DONT allow you to play with/against people that are way better or worse than you and that alone improves the rank system a lot.

I'm not going to lie, this makes me really nervous. I've had 5 games that I absolutely loved playing get completely ruined by aggressive "skill based matchmaking" systems. I'm a player that enjoys both casual/social gaming and competitive "getting better is fun" gaming. I've seen systems like this ruin both kinds of experience, and I've watched these systems creep into more and more games over the last 5 years.
At first I thought they'd be a good thing, a fair thing... but hundreds of hours of experience over multiple titles has proven to me that it's the worst trend to infect gaming since micro-transactions. What could be more counter to the spirit of playing a game than rigging matches? There's no guarantee Crytek will use OpenSkill to do this, but I've seen it happen too many times to not be worried.
Now Im stuck in 6 star hell where, and Im not exaggerating, there has only been 1 or 2 other teams in the match where just damn near everyone has above a 2KD and is using mosin spitz/dolch P FMJ. . .Im probably not going to play until the big update
This is how it has always been why are you just realizing this now? MMR is ONLY to manipulate your experience not improve it. it will be the same after the update unless enough players demand it gets removed altogether.

I really like the change, though I personally had a rough time. Took a 2 week break just to come back into high 5 star. I was NOT ready, especially as someone who mostly enjoys randoms matchmaking in trios.
I ate crap for a whole day, then had to dip outta the house for the weekend. Didnt feel great lol

i wonder what this means for people who play at different MMRs. We run a usual 3 man 2 being 3 stars and now our buddy is 6 and its almost unplayable. we run into absolute demons lol
They've already had individual and team mased MMR. I assume it will run a similar combination to determan a total team skill.
this has been our experience, my buddy is a 3 star who barely plays 1 day a week and I’m all of a sudden a 6 star and we get absolutely shredded so far im not liking the changes
I'm a mid to high 5 star player on a good day (good days aren't as common as I'd like) and my buddy and I have been stuck at 6 stars ever since this update.
These players are too much for me, the queue times are long, and it won't let me drop rank 😭

Always felt nice knowing you were withing the top 0.2% of all players as a 6*, top 2% doesnt really have the same tone to it.. Although, I have seen alot bihher variations to whom I am matched with, beflre you could see the same people over and over again every day

3 star duos and 3 star solos now have the same mmr of 1.5. Idk what mmr the trios have that are now in duo queue but this doesnt feel like it works.
Also they still use the same static image of the skill curve.

Being in 1vs3 against players of your level or even stronger I find it completely unfair...

They still have adjustments for team size and random or pre-made groups.
Notice how your mmr isn’t always the same as your team mmr in the post game.

I haven’t played hunt much recently but last weekend I didn’t like what I saw, I usually play on 5 star lobbies, but I was getting constant matches with teams with 4 to 6 star players, k/d 0.8 to 3.0, not really well balanced.
I actually hit 6 star 2 days before this update

bought this game with a friend last weekend, we played about 3 hours together. We are getting killed left and right, its funny, but why are we entering matches with people that have 250k bounty ? 🤣 . Ill try it a bit more , give it a few games, but if it keeps doing the same shit im done. Its an ok game but yeah, not seeing any fun just being killed by people with max level while i still dont know most of the game .
Games tough and extremely punishing. I’m sorry matchmaking is giving you a bad experience. I have off weeks where I’ll get whipped in 10 games in a row. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I hope things improve for you!

From my understanding, it’s about killing higher ranked opponents. I think 4 star is 2300-2600 that’s the perimeter of 4 star. So even though your both 4 star, your going to come across high 4 star or low 4 star. When you kill a higher 4 star than you it increases significantly more than when you kill a lower 4 star than you. This is the same with being killed. That’s it in a nutshell. But that was the old system. I’d like to believe it’s the same but who knows

This change is completely broken in my oppinion, i have 2 accounts on hunt one main for normal games and one just for fun and mostly solo play, on main i am mostly around 5/6 stars but i was at 5 before the change and no after it i am at 6 stars. On the other account tho i was 4 stars and after the change i got dropped to 2 stars. I think that now its even more unbalanced than before. But it can be only my perspective about the changes to the mmr.

They are not, this update literally dropped randomly after server maintanance. And besides that. Crytek has been terrible in communication over the last year and these so called dev update videos have litterally been them repeating the same things in a slightly different way. No, it happend the background, and the new system is in effect. I know a number of 3-4 star players who didn't shift, and some that did. It all depends on where you were sitting in those old brackets, not everyone saw a change in their star rating.
