    Thanks for another fantastic review.
Having previously tried both version of the kk8 Sherry cask in which I prefer the 57.1%, I am looking forward to trying this one out.
Also it was great to meet you at the Bon accord for the after party of GWF.

Was great to finally meet you Peter and hopefully not long till the next one and we can share a dram or two this time as well. The 57.1 is superb but this one for sure does peak your interest, I’m going to do a side by side very soon and see what comes out on top, Slainte buddy

Great review Kevin! I got a bottle of this about a week ago and agree with everything you said here. So good.

Love this review Kevin and it is the first I have seen of the apparently wonderful 2022 8yr Sherry release. I was quite shocked to be able to find the original 57.1 release over here so will keep my eyes peeled in case we get a few bottles in the USA. Cheers!

That’s amazing the 57.1 is over there that’s the OG and a bottle I still have a dram or two left of and still to this day one of my favorites ever. Keep an eye oit for this release though as it has the wow factor too

    Thanks Kevin.
Love the 8yo I've tried so far. Have not tried to buy 5his one, for everyone seems to run for it. Great you've managed to get yourself a bottle.

Thanks buddy I was pretty happy to get a bottle and even happier to get it opened and try it. A gem of a dram and it’s up there with the 57.1% for sure. Hopefully one pops up for you at some point 🥃

Thanks so much for opening this and sharing your thoughts. I sure hope this makes it to the states! A UK buddy of mine scored me a Local Barley but I haven't heard if he's found any of the new KK yet. It'll be silly to pay shipping for just one bottle.

The local barley will be fantastic too by everything I’ve seen and spoke to about it, it’s knocking there socks off. Hopefully he can find you a little collection and then the shipping will be worth it for sure. I feel the KK12 is obtainable and can sometimes find the heavily peated still in some stores too. Hope you get your hands on a few and can enjoy them soon enough

I'm in Missouri and about to do the same. Any notes, comments or warnings for either? I've only had a recent 12 and the Peat in Progress Batch 5 from Kilkerran.

Sounds amazing - shame it's completely impossible to get hold of! There also seems to be a port cask version out with the current release but that has disappeared just as fast.

I struggled to get my hands on the port cask bottling but I’m happy I was able to get this, maybe one day I’ll come across the port sitting on a shelf collecting dust but I think that will be very rare. Betty happy with my sherry cask though, I’ll need to nurse this bottle for as long as I can

Kilkkeran is one of the most exciting new distilleries.. the 2022 8 year port is a bit better than the sherry, imo

I admire it alot that you share your whisky. My father in a law is staying at my place for a moment and is having a go at my open bottles (some discontinued). He is a good man, and I want him to drink good whisky. But I still have to bight my tong. I know this is a flaw in my karakter. Can you help let me see this in a different light?

I’ve been there before, getting to the end of a bottle and holding onto it because “I paid so much for it” or “it’s rare now” “it’s worth so much” etc. the best moments you’ll have and memories is enjoying the whisky you love with the people you love, you’ll remember the exact day and date you enjoyed thst whisky with them when they’re gone. But if I was to ask you when did you finish your last whisky you cherished and remember the moment you may struggle, just enjoy whisky with company and there will always be better whisky coming your way. Slainte buddy and thanks for the great comment 🥃

Great review. When you say you’ve been in a bourbon phase do you mean ex-bourbon malts or actual bourbons? Which ones?

    • @Letstalkwhisky
      @Letstalkwhisky  2 роки тому +1

Ex bourbon malts, I think I had just been going to a lot of sherry matured or finishes and then moved back to the basics and just really enjoyed my ex bourbon malts, Deanston virgin oak, Bruichladdich 22yo by rare find Balblair12 and a lady of the glen, Glen Garioch. I have been enjoying these of late and on the lookout for a Loch Lomond Chardonnay yeast for my next bourbon cask fix. I need to get more involved with bourbon I do enjoy a good bourbon I just don’t have any in my collection at the moment.

@@Letstalkwhisky You guys probably miss out on a wider range of bourbons but we miss out on whiskies like LL Chardonnay and that Glen Garioch. Never seen them in the wild here. Happy hunting to you.

@@Letstalkwhisky Thanks for such a quick response Kevin! I so appreciate it! BTW! We attended a small whisky festival last week here in the States called The Whisky Guild. The show was postponed 3 times due to Covid. About 300 attended only 25-28 Distilleries and bottlers represented. A mix of Scotch, Irish and American. More smaller US than Scotch companies this time. Still, a wonderful 3 hrs and due to the lack of Scotch, was able to try whiskey out of my comfort zone. Covid limited some from showing up last minute. Your recommendations are on point! Thank you!
