Very nice video showing this repair. I couldn't tell in the transcript is that donut gasket the OEM one? Oh and the other thing when the bolts on top of the donut get messed up in the rust belt you cut them out and use nuts
@@RBTheMechanic I meant the nuts that are associated with the springs. When they rott out and no longer have threads. Is the donut gasket you used the oem honda one?
Thanks for this excellent video RB! My 2007 Accord Cat converter was stolen 2 days ago. Cut from the flex pipe steel shroud connector which means I will need to replace the whole flex pipe, part 700-017. Exhaust pipe where the other cut was made should still be in great condition, I believe it can be welded. My shop's quote to replace is between $2500 to $3500. Question: shouldn't you put a cat shield or lock to deter theft? I don't see this type of theft slowing down.
yo, RB. i have a 2004 accord 4 cyl. i know you're the man to ask about these cars. I'm like 90% sure i have a pretty bad exhaust leak comin from the exhaust manifold gasket. I can't find a tutorial video on exactly what needs to be removed in order to just replace the exhaust manifold gasket. Am i able to do the gasket by just taking off the bolts on the TOP of the exhaust manifold? Or do I have to unbolt it at the bottom side, too?
I have not done one of those but I would get mini torch and heat ever bolt u can buy the small torch from homedepot $45 and each bolt will be rusted so it prolly not the size it suppose to be so u have to mix and match the sockets But do ur best and avoid any bolt from snapping
Thanks for the video mate very detail and helpful.I have Honda CRV 2005 with a leaking exhaust from where the donut fits in.I did replace with new donut and just hand tight do i need to torque?I can also see the spacing between the exhaust and sees the donut gasket little bit expose. Is there anything i miss here?Appreciate your feedback mate.
@@RBTheMechanicthanks mate I have seen the torque spec ..my next question is when fitting the donut and tightening both bolts will there be any space or will the donut expose abit?I have fitted mine but i can see the donut from my left and right tyre a little bit expose .Is that ok?
The flex pipe to manifold connection feels like it has space even though I tigthened as much as possible, is that normal or should the bolts and flange tip be flush sealed? Also the exhaust flange to cata, the holes didnt align perfectly but I managed to tighten the bolts all the way when they angled, is that fine? Didnt add black stuff to gaskets, bad? Thanks for video.
@@RBTheMechanic thanks for this tutorial, what is the part number for the black sealant? i checked your video but i couldn't find the name or part number
Idk how the hell im having a big issue with the flex pipe connecting to the manifold I had replaced the O ring exhaust gasket that goes on before the flex pipe cause the one it came with when I ordered it on eBay it had a big gap when I installed it and had an exhaust leak sound from there so I Change it to a thin one and it closed the gap a lot more but it still have an exhaust leak from there idk if it these aftermarket flex pipe but I tried everything
@@RBTheMechanic yea it’s not where it connects to the cat it’s where the manifold connects to the flex pipe I have a video and picture but I can’t show it on here 🥺

I think I show torque end of video other wise I can get it there’s no space to show the bolts lock up to flush and donuts takes it’s place
