I had the new apple keyboard and returned it to get the Logitech combo.
Yes, the Logi has a larger footprint but it's much more stable and give far greater protection.
One thing I've noticed in all of the comparison reviews is no mention of when you want to move the tablet when it's attached to the apple keyboard. I don't know how many times I went to move the tablet/keyboard and grabbed the tablet and off it came - nearly dropping it. It took a while to get used to. I'd simply want to nudge it over to the right or left and the tablet would come off rather easily. I'm not sure how to explain this - but with the apple keyboard you really need to move everything by grabbing the keyboard itself. Whereas with the Logi - you can grab the tablet and move everything without the tablet flying off of the keyboard.
I suspect that apple keyboard users will know exactly what I'm saying here.
Also, after swapping the keyboard to the logi, I'm much more happy with the logi. It always bothered me about the apple keyboard not having any protection at all on the sides.
The other factor is that with the apple keyboard - you don't and can't (as far as I know) have any type of protective case on your tablet. Your tablet is bare naked with no drop protection.
The irony to me is this: The apple keyboard is more expensive, provides no protection to the tablet and forces you to keep your tablet unprotected (no case).
The Logi is less expensive, provides protection, allows you to remove the keyboard and carry around a 'protected' tablet.
I'm glad that I returned the apple keyboard and now have the Logi.
I have both of those keyboards for the previous generation model M2 12.9 Pro model. The stand in the back of the Logitech combo is a game changer for me when im doing illustration/photo editing/note taking/ etc.
If the Magic Keyboard just had it’s own case that would protect the iPad when it’s used out of the keyboard case I’d buy it. This one is still my go to. I was considering an ESR, but realized that you have to charge it separately whereas this just takes its power from the iPad itself (which is ideal for my situation). So still, to each his own really. The additional protection still wins for me.
I have a terrible experience with the Logi Combo Touch for my 2021 model iPad Pro 12.9. After about a year of usage, the thin plastic strip at the speaker opening (at the screen side) bends outward like a banana! I complained to Logitech a few times about the defect but just got washed under the carpet! The new one has the same design as the one I owned! I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!
Thanks for sharing the experience 🙏🏻 very helpful 🙏🏻
yea! if you'll look at the Amazon reviews this is the common sentiment. Some say they redesigned it on newer ones replacing the speaker cut outs with grills but still, a misstep for Logitech.
“Outward like a banana” is the weirdest way to describe something I’ve ever come across
Dang that sucks. If that happened to me I’d be upset as well but thankfully I’ve had great experience with Logitech combo touch keyboards and I highly recommend them
I have the same experience. The rubber just peel off
Thanks HotsotTek. Where does the Apple Pencil go when you've packed up the case and dropped the iPad into your bag?
I have the Logitech combo touch and I LOVE it
The best drawing experience on the Magic Keyboard is removing the iPad, closing the case, then placing the iPad on top. It works great as it’s at a slight incline
Can you review the esr rebound floating equivalent?
which a pencil holder (thanksCase or Spigen)
Logitech case is the way to go
Any thoughts on the heat conductivity/dissipation of the new M4 iPad Pro Logitech Combo Cases? With the new materials of the iPad Pro M4 Combo cases, which seem to have decreased the weight compared to prior Combo Touch cases, I was also hoping that Logitech made improvements to the thermal performance for the new M4 iPad Pros.
That’s an Ipad thermos with keyboard. Keeps the ipad hot.
Keys touching the display is an automatic no-go.
Fastest way to permanently scratch the display. Spend the extra $100 on the magic keyboard and save yourself the $1K+ of replacing a tandem OLED display.
Or simply as normal people do put a tempered glass on it especially like you said it won’t be cheap to replace and when you use MK you will detach it. Also any drop on a corner without glass will result in screen cracking
I know this is not one that was discussed, but having tried many…. I wanted to let users that don’t want to spend $200+ should take a look at the ESR Ascend for iPad Pro 11 Inch 2024, Keyboard Case with Trackpad, Magnetic Detachable Keyboard with Backlit Keys. It’s not “quite” as nice as the Logitech. But you’d be shocked at the value you get and the quality is very good. Save yourself over $150 too…. Just throwing it out there for consideration.
I just want to see a Magic Keyboard with a kick stand like on the iPad 10 2022. Do I want too much?
I was pleasantly surprised to find that (even though Logitech came out with new version for the IPad Air M2), the Logitech Combo Touch for the older iPad Airs works on the new iPad Air (and Amazon has them on sale for $130 US). The new materials seem similar to the Apple keyboards, which do not age well. The older Logitech keyboards have a sort of denim texture that shows no fingerprints and doesn’t show wear.
The Magic Keyboard material ages well as long as you clean it from time to time. Mine is 3 years old but it looks brand new
The outside of my old black Magic Keyboard has scuffs and marks from going in and out of my bag. My old Logitech one, having done similar travel in the same bag, has zero signs of wear.
@@danfoxchannel nothing a couple wipes of an alcohol wipe couldn’t fix
@@chidorirasenganz The scrapes and scratches (and thinning material along one edge) on mine would not resolve with wiping it down. Sadly.
I bought this and returned it...if this new M4 iPad is emphasizing it's thinness it just doesn't make sense to me to have a case that doesn't complement this.
Also what doesn’t make sense is a have a case for a touch device which will tilt on flip over because you touch the screen
Does the Logitech charge the same as the Apple Magic Keyboard?
No. It does not.
I have an Ipad 11’ M1 and bought this logitech Combo Touch because I thought I will “saved” some cash instead of buying the magic keyboard. It turned out to be a disaster. I will never buy this product again. I sold it at carousel and bought my self the magic keyboard instead.
