This definitely needs a master grade to accompany the Origin RX-78-02.
Got the MG origin kit today and the char origin zaku both were good price.

Got this a couple weeks ago, and don't regret it one bit. This is THE definitive HG Zaku II to get. I've never felt inclined to complete a Black Tri-Stars group of units...until I got this guy. The promo pics of the upcoming Black Tri-Stars kits look really encouraging.
By the way, rather than swap out the RGs power cables, you might consider getting 3rd party cable sections or Bandai's Builders Parts MS Pipe set: img.amiami.jp/images/product/main/133/TOY-GDM-2408.jpg
The long rifle was what sold me to this kit. It just looks like it came from a real grade kit! can't wait for the tri stars too though ^^ Great review btw, you covered pretty much all the bases

It's an ambidextrous bolt...and yes it's used to load a round from the magazine into the chamber so it can be fired.

I know it is old but thanks for this reveiw. Needed a chars zaku but just built the rg ridden and wanted a chreaper/different option for his and i love the rifle that comes with this along with thge extra panel detail. Though, the idea of storing missile launcher ammo on the front if a shield is silly.

A lot of details and panel lines on this kit, this is great for this line of figures, it looks less cartoonish, great possibilities for paint job I guess. Great review as always, Greetings.

Besides the eye, all of the negatives listed are universal to all HG Zakus.
I'm definitely getting this. The proportions are so much better than the last HG Zaku mold for the MSVs.

johnboy384 Well I appreciate that you recognize the effort! It does take a lot of time and I put a lot of stuff to the side to focus on this channel. But so far it's been worth it!
Just starting out as a beginner, I just ordered this one yesterday as my very first kit. Did I make a good choice for my first build? The amount of choices available can make this hobby kind of intimidating for newbies.

for the cable on the legs, have you ever thought of filling up the left space of the holes to make the cable more tighter fitted.
This model figure to me completed is over all better then the RG, its more durable and solid and has an over all bulk toughness has little to none parts falling of like the RG has I think with the RGs tubes and head this would be perfected.

Isnt comparing an HG kit to an RG a bit harsh? Other than the arm seamlines the flaws mentioned were benchmarked by the RG it seems.
Why? Price difference isn't that big.

Cool kit, looks like a nice base to build future zakus. Give us an update on the swapping the power cables, hope the RG cables work. My only gripes about the kit first, the skirts look like reused zaku II skirts, don't like all the holes. second, the power cables, but I have that complaint about every zaku kit.

Excellent review Sir, I just have a couple of bugs about your review if you'll hear me out.
I too have this kit, and I do think it very lovely, but I think at some points in your review, you were not being fair to the kit. Comparing a HG (Even a new one) to a kit of a similar model in the RG line is imo, not the best benchmark. Points like the shoulder joint or the head, it's tough to compare to a line (RG) that is more or less a scaled down MG. This is HG. I just think that comparing this kit to a fellow HG Zaku II would have really made this kit shine in comparison.
However I do agree, the piping is a bit of a let down, but nothing a little putty and paint can't fix.

Travis Bliss Thanks for your input! The reason I compared it to an RG is because the kit is so nice. So a lot of people were asking me if the kit was actually nicer than the RG. Of course it's not going to be as nice as the RG, but it definitely has a lot of great things going for it. That was my point. Again though, I appreciate the feedback!
Just got this. Along with the HG Denial Gundam.
There any place to buy red metallic stickers though because I feel it would fit this kit better than that matte pink? Red? Can't tell really. Regardless any clue if anyone knows a place to purchase said metallic monoeye
what action base should i use for this? action base 1 or action base 2?
Great review as usual. Probably gonna get the green one when it comes out. Does the peg on the long rifle fit in the hole on the backpack? It looks like it might be able to.

***** It is a charging bolt for chambering the rifle. They really could have made it not look like a peg.

Definitely one of the better HG kits. I still don't get the logic about the ammo storage though...why would someone keep explosives on shield that's supposed to be taking a hit??? lol

ZakuAurelius Haha. Those under the Mk-II's shield kind of makes sense since they are not really exposed. Jump to a different league here but I think MG Sazabi Ver. Ka's shield is the best one out there.

Excellent review as allways and comparing this to the regular hg, I think its much better in about every way, the only thing is that the regular hg has a bigger shoulder(the one with spikes) and I like it better than the smaller one on this kit and the sticker eye has allways really bugged me, it's just a flat surface with a pink sticker, that's really lame, they should at least put a raised section for the eye so the eye sticks out more, but I usually cut a piece of a clear runner, sand it down and paint clear color and glue it on, so it looks like a mono eye

Hguc jesta comes with 7 hands! I think the only hand it doesn't come with that you could possibly want is a left trigger finger hand
Is this kit better than HGUC char zaku 1 origin version?
Does anyone has problem during assembling the head ? The mouth part to be more specific ? Mine come off very often and i'm afraid of losing the part

+Sonicfrais Heya Strangely enough, it does not come with the Zaku machine gun...
The sniper rifle is probably bolt action so those round pegs are probably the bolt. Although it's on both sides (design choice I guess) but strange how they wouldn't make the hole smaller to fit as a peg.
I agree with what you hate the most though. The piping on the waste is a big letdown. Also the head and mono eye was kinda lame but probably not that hard to replace the eye.

Gigs Mendiola I don't know! But I guess so? I haven't read the manga, but I imagine that the design is slightly different. So whenever it appears in the series I'm sure we'll get a new kit!

Just to makes things clear, this is not part of the HGUC line up. The Origin is actually not canon to the original show that's why they started up with the new HG line just like the HG Thunderbolt kit. Great review as usual :D

didaswiwaw That's totally up to you and the desired look you want to give the kit. Personally I'd go with flat, but that's just me!

I think the only Zaku II kit I've ever been disappointed with was the 2003 kit.
I prefer this one just for the bigger bazooka and the sniper rifle, I really hate the inner frame gimmick or the Zaku II Char custom

No. The MG 2.0 Zaku is one of the best MG kits you can get (any variation of the 2.0 Zaku). That being said, depends on what you want. If you prefer 1/144 scale then this is probably the best 1/144 Chars Zaku II

Ernesto Castrejon The Zaku 2.0 is a beautiful masterpiece IMO. I have 3 Zaku and a Gouf 2.0 and I don't regret a thing.

Personally i wouldnt use this as a char kit. im going to pretty much mash it with the old Zaku I HG and turn into the origin ver. Zaku I. think that would be a better use of this kit.

Peg looks like a charging handle but usually it would be forward along the slide and not towards the back. So ... who knows. Bandai design shrug.
