  • Oil leaks galore... no more!
    Time to freshen up.
    I've always rotated between store brand degreasers, simple green, and dish soap. I honestly hate myself for not trying Super Clean sooner. So many hours wasted while scrubbing my fingers into oblivion.
    Super Clean provided the products for the video. Luckily I still have some left for cleaning around the house. looking at my dirty shoes in the corner
    Grab it from any retail store or through my Amazon Affiliate link if you're lazy.
    I get small commissions for purchases made through the following links:

    Stay clean!

      It was tough to get a good camera angle with this one, but I've been slowly investing in better equipment for future videos! Thanks for checking them out!

    purple stuff i call it....lmao you can strip plastic parts of paint,, Use this to repaint model cars...If you made a mistake or something ,,what you do is put plastic parts it in a container overnight soaked in purple juice ,,, removes all the paint..Without melting/damaging the plastic itself... So yeah it does pretty good job on engines and engine bay...Just don't let it sit on the paint long.. I believe it's also biodegradable. Good for cleaning the garage floor to... Mix with water... Still haven't fixed that wire...I'm lazy lol.. + it was 108 today Soon it will be 116... 7:07 Your wire harness looks like mine...That would drive me nuts seeing that exposed..

      Yeah first time using it myself! Was really impressed. (Even cleaned my white shoes while I was at it haha)
      Aw man that weather is rough there...
      Didn't have any large diameter wire loom on hand to repair mine unfortunately.
      I did have the good 3M electrical tape, but wasn't sure how it would handle the extreme trapped heat in that area.

    You should look at getting those broken exhaust bolts replaced. Your fuel trims could be high causing bad gas mileage because of the exhaust leak before the o2 sensor. It’s a common issue on the LS motors! But love the detail work!

      I was pretty bummed to find those (one broken on each side) along with a full vertical crack between cylinders four and six. (@6:35)
      No audible exhaust leaks or check engine light luckily, but it could definitely (probably) still be leaking slightly.
      Might be worth re-inspecting for soot deposits around those areas in a few months.
      Just a bummer about the location.
      Looks like the cylinder heads would have to come off to drill and re-tap.

      It’s not the end of the world. I’ve seen a lot of express van with broken exhuast studs including one I use to have. The make a bracket that’s cheap that bolts to your engine and puts pressure against the manifold.

    • @XavierDaly06
      @XavierDaly06 3 роки тому

      @@601racing yeah but that’s a crappy way to address the issue. Specially with the dog house access compared to a truck it’s easy to remove the manifold and fix it. And no one said it end of the world issue. It was just a suggestion in case he is noticing poor fuel economy. I’ve worked on so many LS power platforms and it make a big difference in fuel economy. Specially when you a loaded van as his is.

    Hello, just ran into your channel awesome content!
    I have a 2007 GMC Savana 2500
    Did you make a video when you replaced the knock sensors? I just opened up my engine cover and wow it’s dirty. I’m looking to change anything I can while I have it opened

    Re: not running right after water exposure - do you spray the inside of electrical connectors with silicone, and/or rubber parts with some kind of preservative (eg AT205)?

    • @Pinkielover
      @Pinkielover 3 роки тому +2

      i do... Especially after replacing everything rubber on my car..lol

    • @VanwithTim
      @VanwithTim  3 роки тому +1

      I usually try to add some Permatex dielectric silicone to most connectors I take apart (and always to the spark plug wires).
      Almost all under hood connections in GM products are "Weather Pack" (www.whiteproducts.com/weather_pack.shtml) which should give at least an IP64 rating against dust and water intrusion.
      But for rubber parts, I haven't had to condition mine.
      I know Pinkie Love has had the worlds worst luck with dry rotting rubber and an endless wiring plague!
