- The original Star Wars arcade game by Atari was released back in 1983 and I instantly fell in love with it! It was and still is my favourite arcade game so when Arcade 1 Up re-released this arcade cab it was a no-brainer for me, I just had to get it.... Not only does it feature the classic Atari Star Wars from 1983 but also the Atari follow up The Empire Strikes Back and then of course Atari's arcade release of Return of the Jedi.

Awesome. Same place I bought mine from. Been loving it. Gameplay is still amazing even after 40 years. I see your Marquee print on the top is slightly wonky like mine! Doesn’t bother me as the cabinet is awesome. Enjoy

I bought the first release version of the cabinet. I am Slightly jealous of the "coin slots" you have. I do like the artwork layout on mine better though. I am glad you were finally able to get your hands on one.

Awesome Duffy! This reminds me of the Paper Boy arcade cabinet that had a bicycle handle as a controller. It is said that when they constructed that handle they stress tested it on the biggest guy that they could find in the development studio (he had to basically try to rip out the stearing handle from the cabinet). Turns out it was a good strategy as the handles held up very well over the years.

If you mod it - you can play paperboy and spy hunter etc perfectly on that star wars cabinet with the yoke. Also battlepod.👌

Top tip, if you have any cardboard boxed games in storage chuck in those silica gel packs to keep them moisture free!

You seem to have one of the cabs with the issue a few have reported. If you look at the top black bar on the marquee you will see it’s been cut wrong as the black bar is thicker on the right compared to the left. Apart from that LOVELY.

It's a gorgeous cab, no doubt about that. Unfortunately I sold mine as it didn't get played anymore.

Used to love that cabinet back in the day. I used to take holidays in Wales as a kid and Colwyn Bay pier back then used to have a sit down version that was a very respectable 10p a pop. A lot of my money got used up in that cab alone lol. For me my fave arcade game was and will always be shinobi though. It's the only reason I own the Sega megadrive collection for xbox 360 (although the other games are a welcome bonus as well) as to my knowledge its the only hard copy version of the arcade original outside of owning an original arcade board. I remember not too many years ago at games were hated amoung the retro gaming community became they threw out a load of shoddy plug n play consoles with incredibly cheap components just to keep costs down. They seem to have cleaned up their act in recent years I think them losing the license to manufacture Sega licensed products was the kick up the arse they needed.
Hi matey, Shinobi a classic Sega game matey and one I still visit on the bartop. Losing that license would hurt any business my friend... That said if you churn out cheap rubbish then much deserved 😎🍺

Hi matey, it was not cheap but.... So much fun and the nostalgia from it is immense !!!!! Im sure you could emulate and use a flight controller to get decent play? Maybe an X-Wing fighter would be a great addition to Flight Simulator? 😉🤣🍺
@@OGDuffy I did try using a flight yoke to emulate the original SW control setup; it's just not the same mate.
Awesome cabinet for your first home arcade machine! By the way, don't know if you'll be able to buy from Etsy, as it's a U.S. site, but there's a guy on there who makes a vacuum form bezel mod for that cabinet, as well as the first release version of Star Wars. Comes as three pieces, one for the middle, just below the screen, and two uprights, either side of the screen. I just got my kit, and installed it a few days ago. It makes the cab look even more like the real one. Just need some thick double sided tape, and you're good to go. I'd recommend ordering the untrimmed one, as it'll save you a bit for the import fees. Oh, if you happened to have an extra white angle bracket, and four C screws left over, they connect the speaker board to the marquee. That's why you're having to battle those bits during assembly. Really enjoyed watching you have some serious fun, reliving your youth on that cabinet. Thanks for sharing this with us. Cheers, indeed! ;)

Cannot beat the old arcade classics and this is the one game that was. Must have for me ! Such an iconic game from the sampled speech down to the classic vector graphics and still as playable today as it was then.

I’m with you definitely love this arcade as I have a full size cab with all the games but you can’t play with game. Looks a good build as I’ve seen 1up in person and looked a little thin. My tip would be to use insulation tape to hole the panels together as you fit the side and also only pull back a little protective film to screw in case you slip. Great video and great arcade so enjoy dude 👊🏻

Another great vid, I always wanted a arcade cabnet but never had the space, but that one is not to big. and to be able to play all 3 starwars games is great and would also like the outrun game aswell but will have to save up or try and get a second hand system.

I was considering treating myself to one of these for my bday as I saw them on pre order at GAME. To be honest though, they are so expensive over here, America gets them at a third of the price and so it’s hard not to feel ripped off. Think I’m gonna pop for a MAME cab at some point instead for about the same money. It does look damn cool though I won’t lie.

@@OGDuffy I must admit GAME pissed me off fairly recently - they had The Last of Us part 2 on PS4 preowned for something like 14 quid and also in the 3 for 2 deal. I didn’t pull the trigger right away but went back to pick that up and 2 other games I semi fancied to make up the deal. Blatantly, to coincide with the renewed interest from the series just out, they’d taken it out of the deal and stuck the pre-owned price up to 24.99! I notice the price of that game has universally gone up from just a month ago, I wound up saying screw GAME and picked up a Steelbook edition from eBay. I’ve got lots of happy memories from GAME in the 90’s and early 2000’s though, I’m sure they are a soulless cash-grab now, but it’s hard to separate.
