That final take man....the album cut hits different😤😤
Terell Stafford is a beast..
Wow!!!
My 11 year old has been playing for 2 years. It's footage like this that helps him understand that it takes work to make beautiful music. Thanks for posting!
Very honest man. I appreciate your comments, Terell! Great playing!
Hey, Bret. Always giving the YT community something valuable and rare. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words.
Thank you. Super video.
Just awesome....breezing that horn breathlessly.
Terell is one of my favorite players! Thanks so much for this type of video, it is very inspiring!!!
Great jog!! As is all of your videos
Absolutely love your sound, vibe and lines!
One of the unsung greats.
Beautiful!!!! hope you post more like this!
Sometimes my trumpet students are concerned with their embouchures because they don't look right. So, I play them a video of Terell and they're all like "nevermind" :-)
As long as they don't care that they'll never have a strong high range and don't mind having brittle sound.
pongespob Terrell sure has a big beautiful sound and excellent range.
@@pongespob Played Lead for the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the North Sea Jazz All Stars, I KNOW that his lead chops are fine dude!!!
This is AWESOME footage! Thank you!
Two people disliked this? Must of been trombone players.
no they are checkers players with rusted coke and pepsi bottle tops
@keshavbatish It appears on one of Michael's recordings, but was written by Joey Calderazzo, who was MIchael's pianist.
@rosatijazz23 Stay tuned. More coming from this session.
Yea,thats a Selmer/Chorus 80J trumpet,the company Selmer stopped making them.I am trying to get a used one.
Damone Russ He is a P. Mauriat 700 series ambassador. See other vids where he talks about the instrument.
That embouchure looks impossible! How is he able to produce a sound from the very corner of this mouth!!!!
1 week later, still dumbfounded. How ?? I think he must be the hardest working jazz musician to be able to play in that position.
He's incredible.
I was wondering about what s going on with my EMBOUCHURE!? I suddenly found out that I can play off center. I had to look it up to see who plays that way. Although a beginner, I sound cleaner and mellower than center..I ll keep at it to see if I improve or not in the long run.
@@da11king how’s progress been?
@@MarvelousMaxter I am coming along well...slowly but surely. The most important thing is i am playing more in the middle now because I get more power there compared to my off center position.
@jazz1bro Good job plugging in an ad for your cd
that 3rd take man.......
I like them all 😃.
I would buy em all
Does anyone know what mouthpiece Terell is using?
Great.Just curious are you using iphone filming this?
@jazzbuckeye This spring.
Love hearing how his ideas change for each take. Take 2 sounded the weakest. The pianist wasn't even listening and comping well behind him on this take. Piano comped better on Tk 3- the difference like night and day! I dig the melodic lines on the solo of Tk 4. TAKE THREE my favorite! Thank you for sharing this. I've listened to it three times now!
he has ...this way of blowing the trumpet with one side of the mouth that i've never seen befo' !!!
@doddsalfa Canon 60D
@epasurr Thank you. Have you donated to Brett Primack's donation drive. If not please do so.
How are them headphones staying on his head!?
When is this CD coming out?
@DajaWaja Yeah, I was wondering about that, looks awkward! But goddamnit, the man can play
That horn looks like a selmer
Is he on a Laskey mouthpiece now? Sounds great-a bit cleaner than his Monette.
Yes must have been trombone players!
: )
Hey, does anybody knows what trumpet terell uses here?
coul be a selmer but im not sure
+Jazzdrummer Jonas His trumpet is a Selmer Paris Chorus. The mouthpiece appears to be a Warburton.
I think that Terrell is using some kind of a trumpet, but it may be a flugelhorn...... ?
What kind of Mouthpiece?
He plays Pickett brass Mp.
that is a hip shirt.
Low C#'s out of tune. 3rd valve slide please.
Is jazz hahahahha
