Bike World Garage | 5 Minute Jobs With Suzuki SV650
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- We all know that once you start tinkering with your bike you can lose hours, even days in the garage. So, we challenged Chris to come up with some jobs that can be done in 5 minutes. He's kicking off with fitting a Scorpion end can to our Suzuki SV 650 project bike. What job would you like to see Chris attempt in 5 Minutes?

Nice! Keepy the SV content coming - we want to see more!!
More coming!
Well done Chris doing that in five minutes. Most people drastically under estimate the time needed for things. I roll my eyes so hard when people review things say "fitting only takes 10 minutes." Bullshit. Really the time that it actually takes is 30 minutes. From the moment your butt leaves the couch to gathering tools, opening the package, cleaning up tools, packaging, old parts and washing up to the moment your butt is BACK on the couch. Even a slip on will take you at least 30 minutes if not an hour. That's the true time. Like they say nothing takes 5 minutes.
Those SV's always sound sooooooo good with a nice slip-on. 🙂
💪
Torques for those that care:
Top bolt 30nm or 22.5ftlb
Sleeve bolt 18nm or 13.5ftlb
Pillion peg bolts 23nm or 17ftlb
Nice idea, 5 minutes jobs, have had those 100 times, always at least 3 times longer 🤣🤣
No shit..spent 3 hours trying to fit the headers into the block of my R7. Lots of swearing later I had to call my dad for an extra set of hands😂
do it yourself they said...it will be easy they said
@@marius93 🤣, that was my son, calling for help lol
Chris' English is superb for a Russian 😂 And the WD40 the day/evening before disassembly is _very_ good advice.

been waiting for this...more SV content please
Loving this new series Chris, you can be the "ChrisFix" for motorcycles
If that were a triumph it would have turned into a 2 hour knackered bolt replacement video !!! 😂 well done 👍 another enjoyable video
Havent had a single issue replacing the exhaust on my triumph to be honest
metal coat hanger can be used as a spring puller as well.
Love the idea of a 5 min job! 🤙 Well done! 😁 Thanks for making this video.
Kits garage out to fix bikes...
Buys cheapest POS socket set he can find.
Before turning it on, degrease the parts to avoid burning in ugly stains from fingerprints
That’s what I’m talking about👏
When you sell it?
Clean the pipe before start up or any dirty finger prints stain the pipe 🙂 but nice job ads to the appeal of the bike,,, sounds great,,gives more people confidence for small jobs,, save money 💸💸💸 more fuel and fun ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland 😁
Its great when you're doing a job like this on an old shitter and a sheared bolt turns it into a 5 hour job.
Man, made me think back to when I got a slip on for my Gen2 were you had to cut the exhaust, haha. Nice of them to make it a lot easier on the Gen3. Miss that sv650 tho.
The shape of that Scorpion exhaust is what made me buy one years ago. It's compact, and streamlined. I felt they had decent quality for the price.
Exellent at first try 😂
Every 5 minute job I’ve ever done has included way more tools and parts left over. Oh, and way more than 5 minutes.
😂 same
Those 5min jobs usually end up a full winter rebuild for me lol . OCD is a terrible thing 🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣
OCD , …. Not terrible . It’s a killer .. it’s not to be laughed at ..
😂
Your pre-Guinness 🍺 warmup failed you, mate 🥴
lol
(the jittery hands on the bolts.....that......or trying to beat the clock)
I personally would of sound checked no exhaust. Maybe annoy some neighbours
yeah there's never really a 5min job on bikes 😂 don't worry I if you go over no one cares if it's 5ish / 10min jobs
I've found the SV a super easy bike to work on, very beginner friendly... *except* that adjusting the clutch properly requires an oil change and new gasket.
Who are these people who don't want the noise 🤣 cool format, reckon you can do the underseat can on a Daytona 675 in five mins?
Some people don't want to be that douche bag riding down the street pissing off all the pedestrians enjoying their day.
Hi, is this same exhaust could be use for vstrom 650? And the sound of the exhuast was with db killer??
Don't you have to adjust the injection because of the new exhaust pipe? just asking 🤔
Handlebar Next Please Please Please 🙏 Maybe a Rental
Hi Chris, what brand of socket set is that ? Looks like the extension shaft doubles as a screwdriver.
Good idea for a series.
We're challenging him to brake pads next time.
@@BikeWorldTVshow You could also do bleeding the brakes, especially the front in that time frame (if it's not a dry system to start with).
I have this bike , beautiful first bike but the exhaust is awful .. do you have another one to send me ?? 😂
Get a Fuel Diablo. Great value and awesome sound. British made
Now you gotta get rid of the mid-pipe cat, then the real sound comes out.
Copper grease on those joints and clamp will make them a lot easier to take apart in the future
would putting some grease on the bottom bolt stop it from rusting.
The British like to make noise. That's all they make these days.
SV650 really good safe handling bike get your plumbers watch on and spanner 🔧
What actually happened to the Desmosedici series? Did you ever finish that, or do I just not remember?
Yep, it was finished and we gave it back to the family of the guy who passed away.
@@BikeWorldTVshow Oh, i just rewatched part 12, which is the last one I believe. John said he was going to ride it, but never happened? 🥲
@@LasseJOugaard No, Covid set in and we didn't get chance.
@@BikeWorldTVshow Ah, I see. What a shame, it's such a unique bike. Would be a good idea for a video, if you could borrow the bike off of them and shake it down somewhere 👍
@@LasseJOugaard We already have: ua-cam.com/video/N9DT2gLib7c/v-deo.html
Hey tight is tight who needs a torque wrench 🤣
Yep, didn't have torque wrenches back in olden days.
👍👍👍
Nice nice but get those cats out of there! Let her breathe :)
I've been trying to convince myself to hold off on buying an arrow end-can for my street triple, that plan may have gone out the window 😂
😂
What other plans do you have for the sv? Suspension upgrades?
Nothing that major Gary, we added some R&G bits to protect it. All about getting out a riding it, first challenge coming soon.
I put a Yoshimura Alpha style exhaust, and a mid-pipe on my bike a few months ago, and it sounds epic! It's very similar to the Scorpion exhaust; same tapered shape, a carbon fibre end cap, but with a lovely titanium finished stainless steel body. The size and shape really suits the bike, and it's not overly loud and annoying. I can't understand why manufactures put huge, ugly exhausts on their bikes. I know Euro 5 has increased the size, but I love the way Ducati solved the problem by splitting the exhaust in two smaller pipes on the Monster. Other bikes in their line-up also have neater exhausts, like the Diavel.
It's an absolutely amazing my Benelli TNT 125 Scorpion exhaust pipe goes like a rumble 🏍🏍🏍
I bought a Scorpion taper for my gen 2 Superduke. Fantastic quality, value and sound.
great video! I didn't see you install a gasket where the mid-pipe connects to the catalytic converter thingy, is that not necessary for this slip-on?
a 170/60 michelin 2ct tire TRANSFORMS this SV
Would you need to re-tune that bike after just switching the can?
For a slip-on for this bike, nah. Full system, yeah.
Thanks!
Great video!
俺なら一時間かかるね😥。
さらに休憩時間!
So how much did the old can weigh?
We've got more build vids coming with the SV, we'll add the can and other bits for a final weight saving total.
@@BikeWorldTVshow Sweet. Looking forward to it.
I’d spend 5 minutes at least looking for a 10mil … 😂
The problem is that it sounds exactly like the original 😅
Had one of these beauties and a scorpion slip on too. Wish I still had it 😢
What happened, did you sell it?
I wish It was because I bought another bike.....big crash. Still a great bike though!@@Killishness1337
@@yidarmy ahh I'm sorry to hear that, such a shame, I hope you weren't too badly hurt
this would take Spite 6 hours and even then he'd have a man do it for him XD
Please be honest and tell us if you notice a difference. A difference worth the money spent. An exhaust is the last thing I would spend $ on. Suspension and brakes (especially on this bike) are way more important.
Some people just like to fit end cans, even if it’s just for the looks….plus the video was about what can be achieved in under 5 mins. ….brakes shouldn’t be included 👍
@mozer30 Fitting different brake pads should totally be doable in 5 minutes on such a new bike.
I had the same bike & fitted the same end can. Differences are: It's lighter, it sounds a bit nicer, it looks nicer. Par for the course for an end-can swap. How much those things matter to you & how much you think they're worth paying for will vary by person. The suspension & brakes on this bike are pretty good out of the box, for it's category. If you're going to take it on track, I'm sure they could be improved.
Part 1 was WEEKS ago 🙄
Have you not seen what we’ve been doing, check all our other vids. Been busy!
Loud pipes save lives 😜
Oh I smell a rat. That exhaust has a non reusable, wire reinforced gasket, part number 1477132E10000. 3:41 it's nowhere to be seen! That gasket has to be cut off and the pipe cleaned up after but I guess you didn't want to show that? Just do an honest job ffs.
We smell a Karen!
I think you can see it at 3:07 in the pipe of the stock slipon. Some slipons don't use it, and I think that's the case here. Look at the diameter of the new midpipe, no way you'll get it in there.
I know what you re talking about but I don't think its necessary. But what do I know I only ride em I am not a mechanic 😆
I know the gasket you're talking about - it's in the stock silencer and came off with it. The slip on and link pipe don't use a gasket, they just slide straight on to the headers. The rat you can smell was just out of shot, eating the fuel breathers on my RGV the little bugger.
@@BikeWorldTVshow GTF. Just show it honest. Not arsed about time, just do it properly.
I knew/hoping you d fit that one, I got my eyes on the same 👀👀 😝😝 🤘🤘
