Update: I have a 2019 SV650ABS and love it. It is nimble but also feels planted in turns. The other day I was accelerating relatively hard from around 55 mph and I noticed the bike fishtailing left and right several times. At first it seemed like a tank slapper, something I had never experienced before. However, it turned out to be some kind of oil slick on the road causing the rear wheel to lose traction. I later saw the culprit, a vintage Ferrari spraying, not dripping, some fuel/oil/water mixture from the exhaust. I am not a racer and had never experienced anything like it. I do remember not cutting the throttle abruptly and let the bike move. Remarkably, it straightened itself out, and I did not have to put my Tech-Air 5 vest to the test. I think that the bike’s stability was aided by its overall well sorted chassis and geometry. I am left terrified but also have gained some confidence in the rider friendliness of the SV650. I’ll keep riding and will pay even more attention to road conditions. I thought I’ll share this with the hope that someone may also learn from it and also consider the SV650 as a super fun bike that handles well even in tricky situations. I’ll post this on other sites as well and am curious what people think.
It's in my first time seeing one of your videos and I like the mentality of nothing to prove. It's really relaxing and relieving to see someone not pushing riders to endanger themselves
I just ordered that bike with blue and silver tank. Cant wait to get it, it wasnt my preferred cour though but in uk because of covid Suzuki really short on them here , and that and all black was the only colour
I test rode this 3 years ago when I bought my FZ-07. Absolutely no complaints about the SV650. It's the perfect all-around middleweight naked sports bike. I also tested the Z650, CB650F, and CBR500R. I was going to buy the SV650 until I tested the FZ-07 last. I test rode each bike once until I tried the FZ-07. It got my heart racing so I test rode it again and again. It was the only bike that put a huge smile on my face. I'm thinking people are calling this an entry-level bike which is wrong. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing. It's a hooligan bike that's under-priced. Insurance companies (in Canada) didn't and still don't realize this which is great for me.
I'm a long time motorcyclist and first time viewer...I must whole heartedly commend you on absolutely hitting the nail on the head with your mantra of 'Nothing to Prove' when riding. Fantastic! That really encapsulates, to me, the purist mindset a rider can possess when riding on the street, either riding alone or in a group setting to truly enjoying the 'ride'.
I bought a 2020 after wanting an SV650 for many years, since the second gen that I sadly have yet to own. There’s a reason Suzuki has been making this engine for twenty years, and they’ve kept it relevant. The chassis (after two steps up on the rear preload) is better than the MT-07, so are the brakes, but they really are different bikes. This video says it all. My only complaint is the hard seat (for road feel according to Suzuki) which is lower than it needs to be and therefore sacrifices leg room. Overall though, it’s excellent, and one of the most overlooked and criminally underrated middleweight bikes. I blame the Yamaha.
i totally love my SV650ABS. Have ridden more expensive bikes but didnt have more fun on them. The SV is perfect, happy to play with this gem of an engine, nimble but also planted. Buy one before Suzuki switches to a parallel twin.
I had one of these for 14 months and 14590km, for a complete beginner, before I traded it for my current s1000r (nearly 40000km on that) I wish I had kept it as a second bike. They are so easy to ride, so much fun and strangely cool. All I did to it was lane splitter bar ends, tail tidy and brighter globes. Fabulous thing.
14,000km isnt a hell of a lot experience to upgrade to an S1000R, I assume you rode it as hard as you could and were already taking corners knee down on it when you upgraded?
Finally, my bike has been reviewed! I agree with your thoughts. The SV650 is suitable for beginners, is economical and has good performance, so you can enjoy riding.
I went from an 02 SV to a 17, the new one has less character but otherwise it's a fantastic bike, handles much MUCH better, brakes better even with the 2 piston calipers and has all the amenities of a modern bike. The seat is terrible and way less space under it though. I've been riding for 10 years and love that thing, no need to get much bigger I wanna keep my driver's license. This is by far the best bike compared to the z650 and mt07, handles much better and has the best engine. too bad it doesn't sell that well, people like manga anime styling nowadays I guess. I prefer the classic looks of this one.
Just bought a silver/blue bike 2weeks ago and have put over 1000 miles on it already ...OMG it is so much fun!! Traded in a 2019 Tracer in that had so much helmet wind noise even with ear plugs that l hated riding it and put less than 4k on it in almost a years time . The SV also has a better shifting tranny then the Tracer did. I have been looking at SVs on and off since 1999 when they first came out in the states and glad l finally bought one just sorry l waited this long. I have already bought a rad guard, fender eliminator, and Scorpion slip-on , next is a rear shock and a DDC drop in damper kit for the fork and this bike will handle even better than it already does ! The engine is a peach on this thing ! If your on the fence about getting an SV fall off already and get one don't wait as long as l did cuz your missing out !
What country are you in? Good to know youre loving yours coz I just put a deposit on one and not even ridden it, I know its stupid but because they are selling like chips at the minute I can't afford to miss out lol. I tested the MT07 yesterday, fun bike but the overall feeling wasn't for me, felt light but not great. So I'm solely relying on these UA-cam reviews and took the plunge 😁, all the best 👍
I just got one, from 2017. It doesn't sip 4L/100 km, it's more like 3.5 L/100 km. Probably the best bike I've had since 1978! The previous owner was 76. I'm only 66 and hope to keep it for 10 years. Going to do some serious touring on it. "Ride like there's nothing to prove" is a good advice. Take a break from motorcycling when you get a family. They need you! Take it up again when you are useless. Like me.
I love the mid range naked bikes. Suzuki SV650 and my Yamaha MT-07 to me are the very best bikes! The combination of speed, handling, lightness, smoothness is just A+... whether a new or experienced rider mid naked racers are just too much fun and can’t get tired of them. I have a 2016 Yamaha mt-07 but I really really like the Suzuki sv650 as well.. might need to have two motorcycles then.
Great review! Couldn't agree more. Have a 2019 SV650ABS and at 6'2" 185 pounds still fits me well. I rotated the bars forward a bit and put an MRA wind screen on, and now it is good even for longer rides and at highway speeds. I rode a lot of bikes, some quite a bit more expensive but the SV has always been the most fun. The suspension is ok even on the crappy roads in the US compared to German roads. I also like the looks, classic lines but not trying too hard to be retro. So for me this is really all the bike i ever need and think that this would be the case for most bikers. Reliability is also outstanding and there are lots of aftermarket parts too. Cant go wrong with it.
I did my test on this. I was impressed overall. Unfortunately lost the vote to the Honda CB500x. Took long enough to make my decision. Two different style bikes of similar price range. I seriously recommend the SV650 if your a shorter rider (5ft 10 and less) . It's a great all rounder. Got decent grunt for a 650
Why on earth did you make that choice? The 650 ks leagues ahead of the cb500, Honda should be embarrassed for continuing to sell that motor and it’s under powered 300 as well. Anyhow no disrespect just curious what drove you to that choice
Great review of a great bike. I have a 2017 Gen 4. Fantastic bike for the money. It gives you a smile every time you ride. I would absolutely recommend the sv650 gen 4.. You can use it for longer rides, but then you should change the seat.
I purchased a 2019 SV650 a little less than a year ago. I also have a 2012 FJR1300, 2003 Ducati 800SS and 2015 Honda CB500X. In the last 11 months I have put 10,000 miles on the SV and about 2,000 on the other bikes combined. The FJR would have gotten more but no touring for me during a pandemic. The SV is easily more fun than the others. The Duc can be fun but only at higher speeds with little traffic. If you get caught in traffic at 45mph and under for a while the neck and shoulder pain makes you want to trailer it home. The SV is happy everywhere except a dirt road. I paid just over $6000 USD for this bike and it feels worth more. It doesn't ride like a budget bike and all the modern electronics are unnecessary when you properly power the bike.
Had a 2017 SV650 and man it was heaps of fun. Haven't had that much fun on a bike since the Duke 200 I rode around on in India. I think for 2020 they updated the break callipers and the suspension also had a refresh. These were the only two areas I could complain about after getting used to it and wrangling it around in the Alps so it's great to see Suzuki improve them. I loved it so much that for my next bike I wanted something that would be the same feel, just more premium. The Monster 821 came close, which is no surprise as the SV was initially introduced as the budget Monster. Still the best fun/price ratio for any bike I had experience with.
I like how compared to an mt-07, this bikes seat is a bit farther down into the bike, so your more part of the bike then riding on top of it. At least from me watching videos
I love that engine ever since I testrode the 650 V-Strom. And that makes me think of the big (personal) problem of the SV. She is too small for a guy like me, I'm 6ft 3in, and for that reason I never got to ride her. Anyway, I think she is just great and the engine is the biggest reason for it. Good video. Take care Scott.
@@LuXxenatorX Well, usually I like to recommend the Suzuki V-Strom. She uses the same engine as the SV, but with a bit more focus on the torque. Yes, she is kind of an Adventure-Bike, but she is no Offroadbike after all. But if you want a Naked-Bike in this class tall enough for a huge guy like us, you might be in for a disappointment. The SV is an entry-level bike and the other bikes around are all equally build. The Yamaha MT-07 might be the tallest bike in that class, but is still quite tiny. The first Naked-Bike tall enough is the Kawasaki Z1000, but she is almost a Power-Naked, as well as the Triumph Speed Triple and the KTM Super Duke 1290. Maybe, just maybe the new KTM 890 Duke fits you. But I am not sure about that. The problem in recommending a bike for a total stranger is, that one can't possibly know what kind of driver you are, what experience you have, how much money you want to/can spend on the bike and if you are open for any other suggestions. Usually we are almost tied to the Adventure-Bikes. But if you're just looking for a bike for short trips even the SV will do fine. Still... The longer the trips get, the more you want to sit on a bike like the V-Strom, a Triumph Tiger, etc. You'll have to try! Testride every possible bike you can get your hands on. Try different styles of bikes and you will find your bike eventually.
@@kylebrodie5860 Well, I'd like to think it is up to your own personal perspective and demands. When you use your bike to get to work or for shorter trips even a small bike can satisfy a tall guy. But if you expect your bike to get you from Paris to Rome and back in the most comfortable manner you surely want a bigger bike and in that way a tall touring bike like a Honda GoldWing or a BMW GS (Adventure) or.... Another thing for you or me is humour. You should have loads of that, because people will approach you and tell you that your bike looks like a pocketbike with you as the rider. I know that, because it happened to me all the time.
@@simonlutt9849 I think you're totally right. Also don't think I look goofy on it, but it may be my proportions. And as you say, my average ride is about 15 mins, and the longest was about 7 hours in a day (and I was sore). Someyhing I would suggest is a new seat - might add some height for big guys, and the current seat is pretty hard
Here in the U.K. this is what the bike is to me A great step up from 125 to a2, can be unrestricted for full A Cheap, £1000-2000 for a good one Light Sounds good Gen 2 and after look good Bullet proof. I have spoken to many owners and I haven’t found one who’s had an issue
I had a '00 and loved it. Now I still have my '03 SV1000S (awesome bike), and keeping it because "one day it'll be collectible". But I keep thinking of getting a current 650- would make my commute more fun.
Wow, I was stoked when I saw that you had a review of this bike. I traded in my '99 SV650 in 2018 after about 10 years and having learned that the latest model is known to be a little better in some areas (whenever there is an actual difference) I have to fully agree on what you said. Also: Perfect first bike for your wife? Agreed. Also: Together with your microphone placement yours is the best sounding video of the new SV650 motor out there - and the best testing effort, period. As always I love your content (even if I'm quite lazy concerning comments) and I wish you and your family one blast of a great time!
If a bike goes on that long, it means that it's perfect and that's from a 70s all time Kawasaki guy . This will be the bike my wife own as she's ordered one . She's having it lowered for her short legs . I was impressed and I'm pretty sure that I will be borrowing it from her.
Thanks Kevin! Yea, I'll have to see if they offer a polo shirt, I looked when I first did the initial designs but didn't see one. Maybe I have to get "bigger" before they open up other things like that for me. 🤔
Love your channel and I’m going to be hopefully having my first job soon and I’m going to be saving for a motorcycle, and just to make money. I’m 14 btw, b your channel is really cool and I love motorcycles
My good friend, I watch your reviews and enjoy them every time. This morning I woke up not at my best, unfortunately as usual but your laugh as usual improved my day! Please continue with your wonderful doing Thank you Ami ALMOG
First time here, enjoyed your review which the style like you say, nothing to prove or scream about. Hope you could make a comparaison with the MT07 as well as the sv650x, wanna know if there is any different except the ergonomic. Keep it up!
@@bobwreck3775 I think $9k works out at about the same in price I payed in €. But yeah bikes are pretty popular over here too, harder to get at the moment. I was lucky with this one.
I've got a Yamaha Tenere 700 at the moment and it's a great bike, but it's just not the bike for me for various reasons. I want to go back to a naked bike with 17" wheels, and I was looking at a Yamaha MT-09 SP, but then this bike piqued my interest. It was one I had looked a while back, but it had gone off my radar, until now. I'm a more experienced rider theses days and I thought why should I pay all that money for something I really wouldn't use to its fullest. The bike is a great price even new, and Suzuki seem to do a lot of good deals compared to other manufacturers, so I'm off to my local dealer tomorrow to have a look at an SV650. Another bonus is I have two Suzuki dealerships not that far away from me, other dealerships are all miles away. I been doing my homework and every review on this bike has been positive, you can tell it will be because all the reviewers start laughing when they start riding the thing!
You get it! Of the 5 bikes in this group (MT07, CB650R, Z650, Trident660) this is the one that made me laugh the entire time during the review. The others are great bikes too, laugh here, giggle there but this one, the entire time the grin never left my face. This bike says "riding is FUN...period." take care, Scott
@@NothingToProve Well, I bit the bullet, and bought one last week! I went to my local dealer and they gave me a very good deal on a 2021 red and white one. It maybe a bit basic, but overall what a great bike for the price. The first thing I noticed was how smooth the gearbox and clutch were compared to my 2021 Yamaha Tenere 700, which will be going soon. And, it was far less fatiguing to ride. I'm very happy with the bike so far, and the L-twin engine sounds fantastic even with the stock exhaust fitted.
Yea, with this bike you don't need a quick shifter, I think the only time that I used the clutch was when starting from a stop, then after that...it's not needed...blip up or down...no matter this transmission handled it with-out a hick-up. 👍😁
It is a rapid bike, faster than most cars on the road. Very snatchy 1st and 2nd. Just bought a brand new one. In no way is this a "beginner bike". The only thing this bike will teach is how to be afraid and not advance very far without some crashes.
I have this bike. It's absolutely fantastic in general. However 1 problem I have had is the paint on the frame, front fork tree and wheels is flaking and now rusting and suzuki warranty wasn't interested at all... I do live in Scotland, so it does take more of a pounding than most places... however, none of my other bikes have ever had paint flaking like this, especially to the extent that my suzuki is doing it. Then for Suzuki to refuse to deal with it means it will be the last suzuki I ever buy... which is unfortunate because it is a fantastic little bike other than the shoddy paint work and the horrible support from the warranty.
I’ve owned a Versys 650 and ridden the Z650. The SV is a very different bike to the Z, in ergonomics, feel, and engine character. I much prefer the SV’s 90° v-twin pulsing sound and vibration to the buzz of the 180° parallel twin of the Z, but it’s still a competent and fun bike to ride. Especially with the MT-07 in the mix the SV often is overlooked, and I think it’s the most criminally underrated bike in the class. It’s old school and modern in the right amounts.
The 650 V twin has so much to commend it, however, the cut down front mudguard serves some sort of purpose, one supposes, but not in the wet. The pillion passenger, will need to be fit and able, with an arse like concrete, and feet super glued to the foot rests.
I had the same question this year: used MX5 NC/ND or brand new SV650 2020 (as my first moto in my life). I chose new SV650 :) in the same painting: black/red and I think it was a great choice. Almoust 4000 km of mileage now. A had few trips 550km ,11 hours of riding through Poland and it was GREAT. MX5 is nice car, but it is still a CAR. I was searching somethink new. Now my SV is NEW, cheaper than used MX5 and maybe more fun, because SV650 is something different from 4 wheels despite of the fact that mx5 is fun vehicle too :) . I like very much mx5, but sound of V2 of Suzi is better. I love V engines. Ford Mustang is too expensive. But new SV650 I can have in my life and it is great opportunity for V-engine fans :D . Greetings from Poland :)
It’s a great bike but Suzuki shouldn’t wait too long with some changes like a rear single side arm. Better suspension and a monster style exhaust headers wrapped around the motor and a size bigger in displacement.
Great review Scott! Great bike for the wife too. If only they made it new like the old half faired with a screen as a small capacity tourer. The V-Strom probably fills this void though. 👌👍
Was on the SV650 last year to get my license. The engine/sound is awesome and it is real fun to ride. The suspension/chassis is not amazing but good enough for the price i guess. It can brake fine but the feeling/feedback is not great. Bikes at the riding school get abused and you can't adjust em, so brand new the experience might be better. I bought a Triumph Street Triple after getting my license and you can tell the difference in quality and road feel. For the price the Suzuki has been hard to beat, but it is getting a bit long in the tooth with the looks and tech. The new Kawasaki Z650 is only a €300 more over here and quite a bit more up to date with a new TFT, lower weight etc. The MT-07 is also only €300 more. Next year when most bikes will be updated for euro5 is going to be a good time to buy i think. Going to be interesting to see what Suzuki will come up with.
yea, it's time for Suzuki to update this, I'm curious to see what they will do to keep up with the Z650 and also the MT07 will be updated next year too, curious to see that update too. It's kind of nice to have so much choice for us "riders" that we can sit back and compare and "nitpick" these bikes down to the nth degree. It's great! 👍
Hey Scott. Well, your reaction to this bike is all I had to hear! The fun and enjoyment in your voice let's me know that this bike gives you something some of the others don't. I love this engine / trans combo, love the chassis, just really like the whole thing. For what it is, you have a winner here. So where does it rank? I want to watch the MT-07 vid one more time, but so far I would put this bike 2nd to the Mt-07. The Honda is very nice, but for some reason it doesn't grab me, even though I like that engine best. Maybe I should watch that one again too! And then there is the new Trident coming down the road. Playing Devils advocate, if you have to move the Trident in and want to keep the bike count to only 4, the Z650 would be out. Again, that is just me.
Hey thanks for your comments on all 4 bikes Dennis! Yea, this is the most exciting and engaging emotionally bike of the 4. Every component just works so well together that all the parts "gel" and the bike becomes part of you and it becomes "we" and not rider + bike. You become one with the bike, not many bikes do that to me, say maybe 1 in 20 bikes I ride do this to me and this is one of those bikes. An OEM can put premium components on a bike (like the CB650R) but to make those components compliment each other and feel as one, that is the key and Suzuki nailed it here with this bike. The only OEM that does this consistently for me is Moto Guzzi, the V7 & V9 come to mind right away, I will own one, one day, when I can afford to have a "play" bike 😁 Ride safe my friend and take care, Scott
BTW I don't know if the European models have this quirk but on all suzuki motorcycles in the USA the speedometer always reads 5 MPH higher than your actual speed. So if the speedometer says you're going 65 mph you're actually going 60 mph. I have verified this with GPS on three different suzuki bikes: SV650, V-strom 650, and Burgman 400. It's not a big deal but I can't say I like it. Would prefer to just have the true speed.
All OEM's do it. It law that they can't be under when the vehicle is sold new. The standard for cars is usually around 4-6% over actual and the usual for motorcycles is more...usually, BMW is usually around 3-4% over. Honda's, I've owned 4 of them, were all around 10% over and KTM 1290SDR was a little more than 10%. So it's nothing that "just" Suzuki is doing, it's really a CYA so they don't get sued by the Govts. Ride safe, Scott
I think for the 2020 model they finally gave the SV a 4 piston caliper on the frontbrake, until 2019 the SV only had the standard 2 piston caliper... Greetings from Austria!
It is really looks lot smaller for example compared to Fazer 600. How will someone look on it if its 183cm and 75kgs? 785mm, yes its low but 1cm more height compared to my old EX500.
So many reviewers seem to genuinely enjoy riding this bike, chuckling away whilst riding it. Just goes to prove that it is better to ride the machine not the spec sheet
No quickshifter on these bikes. But he simply unloads the transmission by backing off the throttle briefly and shifting. You can do that on nearly any bike. A quickshifter will enable clutchless up shifts without backing off the throttle.
Great reviews always 👌 my son has 2018 BMW 310r should we buy the suzuki or wait to get better bike than sv650? Do you think is there a big difference between these 2 bikes ? Thanks
Oh yes, there is a big difference in performance. Over double the power and performance in the chassis, brakes, suspension...etc. For about 25% increase in weight. So great trade off from a paper point of view. Fun factor, about 400% increase, as the for the cost, it's only about a 1k more than the 310R, so a great machine for the money, well, the best bang for buck in the middleweight naked group imho. This is the bike I want my wife to get next year but we still have to wait for the Triumph Trident to come out and see if she will like that better. Ride safe, Scott
I love it. Was my first bike, but sold it after a year simply because it was troo uncomfortable on long trips with my height and inseam. But man it was great.
The preferred beginner bike it seems. I do think the MT-07 looks (and sounds) nicer and maybe is a bit better just for street (power-wise). The SV650 seems like a better fit if you're sure you want do a couple track days. Have your tried the newer MT line?
I wish they would've just given this bike a tiny bit more power, reduce the weight by 1-2 kilos. Give it upside down forks and better brakes. It would be a fantastic bike then.
Only a 2011 Monster 1100evo because that is my favorite Monster of all time, the last of the air cooled big Monsters. Just FYI. Ducati dealers around me don't want me doing videos of their bikes...it's that simple, I've been to 2 different dealers over 10 times in the last 2 years and rode only one bike, the V2. So I don't go to them any more asking to ride their bikes because it's simply a waste of my time and energy. I'm too little to get their attention as of yet. :( I think I need more than 100k subscribers, then I'm privileged enough to ride a Ducati. LOL!
Hey man I’ve got a question. I was just rewatching this video and the quality of the footage stands out as…less than par…sub-good 😂. I’m just curious if that turned out to be a setting (bitrate or resolution setting maybe) on the 360 or if that’s how All footage on it comes out
@@NothingToProve amazing because the new GoPros have AMAZING footage but they’re plagued with issues and reliability problems. On the hero 10, you have to be a bit of a tech nerd and know what firmware version is solid because if you’re on the latest firmware it makes that Insta360 you felt was unreliable seem like it’s running flawlessly.
love the bike, it has almost a timeless factor to it. the engine is tried and true and still performs extremely well. styling is very neutral but doesn't look old or too try-hard futuristic. I always hate the colorschemes they have on it tho. Almost ever year it looks so tacky. maybe it would look better in person tho idk.

I wouldn't have bought it, if the seat was higher. There are enough bikes with higher seats.
i totally love my SV650ABS. Have ridden more expensive bikes but didnt have more fun on them. The SV is perfect, happy to play with this gem of an engine, nimble but also planted. Buy one before Suzuki switches to a parallel twin.
Got a 2016 sv 650. 20000 km and not a single problem. Runs like a charm, and riding is as fun as on the first day!
Thanks for all the videos you make, but this one in particular! :)
Just ordered my new SV650 a few days ago, could not be happier. Thanks!
They really are great, can’t fault them, especially for the price and that engine. Quintessential UJM of the modern era.
PhrozenPhlanges I was completely comfortable across the whole performance envelope of the SV and with care stepped up to the BM.
@@brianglendenning1632 So essentially, you were not riding the SV to it's limits and then moved up to a bike 3 times as powerful almost
Finally, my bike has been reviewed! I agree with your thoughts. The SV650 is suitable for beginners, is economical and has good performance, so you can enjoy riding.
Same great, reliable & unbeatable V-Twin 650cc engine in the V-Strom 650 XT.
My first bike ever, 2018. $5800 OTD and I absolutely love it ! I switched that fender out, switched the mirrors out.. looks amazing.
Yea, this is one of my favorite middleweight nakeds!
Is it weird if I say your voice is oddly soothing?
I went from an 02 SV to a 17, the new one has less character but otherwise it's a fantastic bike, handles much MUCH better, brakes better even with the 2 piston calipers and has all the amenities of a modern bike. The seat is terrible and way less space under it though. I've been riding for 10 years and love that thing, no need to get much bigger I wanna keep my driver's license. This is by far the best bike compared to the z650 and mt07, handles much better and has the best engine. too bad it doesn't sell that well, people like manga anime styling nowadays I guess. I prefer the classic looks of this one.
I’m getting this for a first bike I sat on one I loved it
Great, you'll love riding it and learning on it! 👍😁
You can use it for longer rides, but then you should change the seat.
hello thanks for this report on the SV a super motorcycle all ages, by the way, it runs over 200kmh
Lovely bike, I own 2017 model and agree with you about sound of it
Him laughing on the bike made my day haha! Fun video! Thanks! Never rode a motorcycle yet but love this bike!
Cheap to run . Punchy engine good fun . Light ,whats not to like.
Great first and last bike
facts!!
The Bob Ross of moto reviewers. Awesome
Was gonna say the same thing. Relaxing
I've owned 3 SV650s and an SV1000. Sold my 2017 SV650 to step up to a Ducati, it was a great bike but I needed more HP for where I ride.
Good video. Take care Scott.
could u recommend something similar for that height? first time in my life i wish i wasnt so tall
I'm 6 foot 1, a touch under 200lbs, and I daily my 2017. Not the best for long hauls, but I like it
@@kylebrodie5860 Well, I'd like to think it is up to your own personal perspective and demands.
That's my Bike, my baby and I love her too 👍👍
Here in the U.K. this is what the bike is to me
A great step up from 125 to a2, can be unrestricted for full A
Cheap, £1000-2000 for a good one
Light
Sounds good
Gen 2 and after look good
Bullet proof. I have spoken to many owners and I haven’t found one who’s had an issue
Loved how you had something to prove with that Harley. Ha ha
It would've proved to be a bad video/review if we had to plod along behind the Harley.
Exceptional review. Great work!
That motor is sweet🥰
This is my wife's motorcycle and she loves it.
I bought the X model, great bike👍 long time rider and still a fun bike
I love Suzuki sv650.hi sir I'm from india..where are you from sir? Btw this video shows how you loves this bike..
Your laugh going around that Harley... priceless. !!!
It's the little things in life that make life worth living and passing a slow Harley is one of them. 🤣🤣🤣
I've watched a lot your your reviews and this one has the most laughs. Perhaps the most important metric.
If a bike goes on that long, it means that it's perfect and that's from a 70s all time Kawasaki guy . This will be the bike my wife own as she's ordered one . She's having it lowered for her short legs .
I was impressed and I'm pretty sure that I will be borrowing it from her.
Great review of the Gen 4.
Got the RLTSNTP t-shirt off Teespring. Wait for the embroidered polo shirt to appear.
My good friend,

Please continue with your wonderful doing
Thank you

bikes great i got a 17 version love the bike first bike no issues with it at all they are great bikes
First time here, enjoyed your review which the style like you say, nothing to prove or scream about. Hope you could make a comparaison with the MT07 as well as the sv650x, wanna know if there is any different except the ergonomic. Keep it up!
Thank you! I will try to do the MT07 soon, maybe in two weeks or so!
Ride safe,
Scott
They’re very different but similar. Check out the Motorcyclist magazine comparison.
Just bought a brand new one of these. The new white/black/red combo is amazing tbh.
WHat was out the door cost? I am getting raked over the coals because of the bike shortage in this area.

Looking forward owning that bike
This bike says "riding is FUN...period."
take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProve Well, I bit the bullet, and bought one last week! I went to my local dealer and they gave me a very good deal on a 2021 red and white one. It maybe a bit basic, but overall what a great bike for the price. The first thing I noticed was how smooth the gearbox and clutch were compared to my 2021 Yamaha Tenere 700, which will be going soon. And, it was far less fatiguing to ride. I'm very happy with the bike so far, and the L-twin engine sounds fantastic even with the stock exhaust fitted.
This is another cassette style transmission? I’ve been enjoying learning more about bike transmissions on your videos
I thought you’d make a little mention on how it compares with its Japanese parallel twin rival Z650 which I think you reviewed recently..
It’s old school and modern in the right amounts.
i have been waiting for Sv650, finally thank you so much for your review.great choice!
i love this bike wether your a newbie oldbie. engine sound is just amazing and addictive
The 650 V twin has so much to commend it, however, the cut down front mudguard serves some sort of purpose, one supposes, but not in the wet. The pillion passenger, will need to be fit and able, with an arse like concrete, and feet super glued to the foot rests.
The answer is always Miata.... or should that be SV650?
On two wheels, yes, it is.
both owned lol
1st and 2nd gen were great. After that, they made it way too small! Catering to those 5'5 and shorter and under 150lbs. Anyone over that, forget it.
I am 173cm 75kg and feel second gen is perfect size. The new one felt smaller when i tried it in the dealer. Is it really smaller?
I'm 6 1 and comfortable on my 17, but I guess it's all preferance
It’s a great bike but Suzuki shouldn’t wait too long with some changes like a rear single side arm. Better suspension and a monster style exhaust headers wrapped around the motor and a size bigger in displacement.
Great review Scott! Great bike for the wife too. If only they made it new like the old half faired with a screen as a small capacity tourer. The V-Strom probably fills this void though. 👌👍
beautiful music good vibes
Amazing that it sounds identical to my 2009 Gladius. Such a great bike. 2009 was the birth of the new generation.
The only OEM that does this consistently for me is Moto Guzzi, the V7 & V9 come to mind right away, I will own one, one day, when I can afford to have a "play" bike 😁
Ride safe my friend and take care,
Scott
Ride safe,
Scott
Is there going to be a major revision in 2021 ?
No.
Thank you for uploading this really nice video about a really nice iconic motorcycle
I think for the 2020 model they finally gave the SV a 4 piston caliper on the frontbrake, until 2019 the SV only had the standard 2 piston caliper...
Greetings from Austria!
The brake-upgrade came in 2019.
That's how I justified buying a brand new bike last year :)
@@KaldBikkje ah ok😁 I wasn't a 100% sure if it was 2019 or 2020....the frontbrake was my only negative point about the SV650 until now
It is really looks lot smaller for example compared to Fazer 600.
Can someone tell me why u dont need the clutch to shift. Is there a quickshifter and blipper on board?
No quickshifter on these bikes. But he simply unloads the transmission by backing off the throttle briefly and shifting. You can do that on nearly any bike. A quickshifter will enable clutchless up shifts without backing off the throttle.
the engine its so good even if you abusing still will last 100k + miles i did have 2 gen
It looks like a Monster 620
That's because Ducati started the "naked" group back in 1993. 👍😁
Good enough for the road and good enough to race.
Love my SV650, great first proper bike 👍🏍
Ride safe,
Scott
I have about 6k miles on my g310r after a year of ownership. Looking at this bike when I’m ready to upgrade. Did your son get it?
Is it the chain or the gear box that you can hear while accelerating?
nice camera angels:)

How about the comfort of the seat
Changing gears without clutch and a quick shifter? Wouldn't that kills the clutch or worse the gearbox?

The preferred beginner bike it seems. I do think the MT-07 looks (and sounds) nicer and maybe is a bit better just for street (power-wise). The SV650 seems like a better fit if you're sure you want do a couple track days.
Have your tried the newer MT line?
Yes, all of them. In a week or two the MT07 review will be up too...I hope.
@@NothingToProve Excellent, thanks. Looking forward to watching your opinion.
I wish they would've just given this bike a tiny bit more power, reduce the weight by 1-2 kilos. Give it upside down forks and better brakes. It would be a fantastic bike then.
Hi Scott , I have not checked back on your reviews yet but have you done a Ducati Monster.
I’m just curious if that turned out to be a setting (bitrate or resolution setting maybe) on the 360 or if that’s how All footage on it comes out
Na, that's just the Max, it sucks. :(
@@NothingToProve amazing because the new GoPros have AMAZING footage but they’re plagued with issues and reliability problems. On the hero 10, you have to be a bit of a tech nerd and know what firmware version is solid because if you’re on the latest firmware it makes that Insta360 you felt was unreliable seem like it’s running flawlessly.
I loved mine but the saddle is awful. Traded in for a Ducati Scrambler 1100. Fond memories though, the engine is a peach!
love the bike, it has almost a timeless factor to it. the engine is tried and true and still performs extremely well. styling is very neutral but doesn't look old or too try-hard futuristic. I always hate the colorschemes they have on it tho. Almost ever year it looks so tacky. maybe it would look better in person tho idk.
