How to crochet a granny square

Here is the written version of the pattern (using standard US crochet abbreviations):
Ch 4, sk 3 ch, sl st to next ch to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, [3 dc in ring, ch 2] 3 times, 3 dc in ring, ch 1, join with sc (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp) to top of first dc. - 3 sts on each side + 4 ch-2 sp
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp, [ch 1, sk 3 sts,* (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times, rep from * to ** once, 3 dc in first ch-2 sp, join with sc (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp) to top of first dc. - 7 sts (6 dc + 1 ch-1 sp) on each side + 4 ch-2 sp
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp, [ch 1, sk 3 sts, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp] across to corner ch-2 sp,* (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times, rep from * to ** once, 3 dc in first ch-2 sp, join with sc (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp) to top of first dc.
Repeat Rnd 3 until desired size is reached.
