Great competition that year but Bette's brilliant Baby Jane descending into total madness should have won! Then Lee Remick in"daysof wine and roses" a close second !!!
She does, she carries the screen, she brings the emotions, absolutely outstanding. Hollywood held grudges against her, because she the great talent was in their face. She put her work above all else and in showed.
There will never be another Bette Davis. She's a true legend. Her voice was not 100% clear because of her stroke and her years of heavy smoking. Years of smoking will do that to your voice. That doesn't bother me at all I understood her well enough. I wonder if she and Lucile Ball ever met and if they hit it off good as friends.
I read that Bette turned down the role of Vera Charles in the 1974 movie "Mame", infamously starring Lucille Ball. Not sure of Bette's reasoning other than possibly she wouldn't have wanted to play second fiddle to Ball. But the movie turned out to be a huge flop, anyway.

She most certainly did deserve the oscar for baby jane!!!!
Poor Bette she looks like she has difficultly speaking more than on any post stroke interviews ive seen of her... but its really impressive her strength during those years, that's why so many love her and so many feel inspired by her..
The absolute best there ever was..may she rip.
Sharp as a tack - strong as iron - delicious personality - 👏❤️....’I’d like to kiss you but I’ve just washed my hair’...🥰
One of the Greatest Actors of the 20th Century. Thank U Bette! Thank U so much!
“All time!”
How could a mother disown her own child that she gave birth to? That's just beyond understand!!! No matter what they child did or said?!!! Her daughter is not an evil person. She was maybe very frustrated with her mother. She said she tried to reach out to her. She made the mistake of writing that book, but still it was her daughter. You have to forgive your child. Maybe they both have their own frustrations, but still mother and daughter. Amazing this lady could've been so cold hearted.
Awww Bette said BD was the love of her life 🙁
Bette is a legend, love her.
Golden age!! Love you Bette!
