That is pretty awesome they caught it on camera. Been there a few times, so caught up in the intensity but need to stutter step the beat a bit or pause for dramatic effect but need to keep the energy high.
Believe me even as a musicain it's a rare privilege to get such a tight, on a par ensemble (guess they all started early as friends making "some music") together..simply beautiful. Had such beginnings myself but life took me elsewhere...it is what it is...
My focus was clearly on the Drummer, Martin Horntveth, Fantastic, I was tiring out my wrists drumming along to this entire video. I absolutely am enthralled with this band, I am in awe of their work, they are a manifestation of anything, if possible, divine.
i'm stoked that starfire and the US tour have helped more of my fellow countrypeople discover my long-time favorite band :) they're currently doing a few stops in the US with tycho and the todd terje live band, but they're not coming anywhere within 1000 miles of austin. i did finally catch them up in chicago & michigan a few years ago though. happy listening!
it's quite a wonderful escape from the world's bullshit to come onto youtube and be absolutely shook with extra terrestrial vibes from JJ in the spirited pursuit of being another fuckin planet. absolutely love these guys.
VERY INTERESTING AND EXPERIMENTAL in Nu-Jazz-style-song MADE IN JAPAN First song - his live version from their NEW JAGA JAZZISTdouble CD - STARFIRE (2015)
Very disappointed with this LP after "One-Armed Bandit". There are just no decent melodies at all. This piece, in particular, offers no well-worked melodies, and overall, goes nowhere.
That lap steel line, though...amongst about a gazillion other sonic goodies. 🔥
check out that great moment at 5:20 where Martin pauses and literally shakes with energy before crashing into the next rhythm.

Sometimes you have to physically brace yourself to skip a beat.
These guys are Musical super heroes.
What a privilege to live on the same planet with this beautiful people and hear their amazing music.
