I currently have a Cupra and I can hands down say it's the nicest car I've ever driven and enjoyed owning. Had the standard Leon for 3 years prior and that was also a pleasure to drive, but not quite the same rocket

In this EVO test the Cupra was tested with cup-tyres which are Semislicks whereas the Type R is only available on normal street tires (Conti SC6). And that makes a huge difference.
There are several tests in magazines here in germany: With normal street tyres on all cars, Type R always wins on racetracks. With Cup-tyres on GTI-CS and Cupra, whereas Type R only has the street-Conti 6SC, Cupra and even the GTI wins. It's so simple.

I don't drive any of those cars, I drive an Opel. You can see the Seat starts moving 1/2 second after the other cars, the driver fell asleep or simple didn't dump the clutch at a high enough rpm compared to the others.
Well that's the problem with the Golf GTI, the Seat and even the manual Golf R, too: He mentioned it several times in the carwow-videos: You can not dump the clutch at high revs in the VAG-manual cars. It will drop automatically to protect the (supposedly too weak) clutch. The more power the engine produces the more this will become aparent.
Objectively (any ranking available) the Cupra is the fastest one from 0 to 200 km/h. It weights less. I don't say it is better, I say it is faster in long distances. Ordered mine already
sorry for my english... i bought a gti clubsport last june because i like it! doesn't matter if she takes 2 or 3 second from 0 to 100.. I drive it for going to work and bring my son to school..not for doing drag race! drive my gti is a pleasure and if i want more performance i will do a chip tuning.
Thanks for the review of three drivers in three hot hatches. Safe to say the sloth in the Leon could never be a racing driver or a getaway driver. I think he should stick to driving to the shops on Sunday.
GTI has the same engine as the R. But VW tuned it down so it wouldn't challenge the R. All you need to do is go to a tuner, remove the boost and go for a Stage 1 and boom the car has 365hp, and would destroy the other 2 cars. Also the interior is far more exclusive
The Cupra also has the same engine as the R and the GTI. So if you staged 1 the Cupra it would destroy the other two also, and an R as well since it has less kerb weight at the top end but same engine.
It comes down to taste and whether you can live with the looks. At 58 years old, I would feel a very silly in the Civic, although I love Honda cars. I've just ordered a regular GTI, through carwow and I agree with the presenter about the savings to be made. The 16 week wait for delivery is harsh though.
Tbh look at the launch. The seat loses a good second because it was fucking shocking. Its really between the Leon and the Civic. The Leon did amazing to catch everyone up and shouldn't have needed to.
For further purchase, will be the gti.... Reason being...is because the gti has so much restrictions on the car... When I mean restrictions I mean it. 290hp is what they tell you, realistically no it damn near 300-350, with knew pump and injectors, and tune around 2 grand will beat most of the cars 450-600 HP...I not joking...when I purchase the car, they took away the fuel injection pump and injector, so my car was pushing 210...let me tell you something 210hp 0-60 in 5.5 sec....hmmm let just sit that there.
I don't understand how the golf edition 40 lost when it has that power for 10 seconds from 3rd gear as how long did the quarter mile last for. There is no standing quarter mile time. How long did it take from 0 - 100km/h, and from there in 3rd gear till the finish. The time just doesn't add up.
When it came out I thought it was a nice looking car until I've seen it in person, now I think it's one of the most beautiful sedans ever made, for me up there with the Maserati Quattroporte V
koks I was a bit disappointed when I first saw the pictures. However, in true Alfa tradition, it became prettier every time I saw it and eventually grew on me. Seeing it in person, I had to conclude that pictures don't do it justice. It's gorgeous.

The Seat is the Golf with a slighter shitter interior and less sound deadening but more power. If you want a bit more refinement spend 2k more on the golf. If you're not bothered have a nice holiday with the 2k.

Riaad Hoosain exactly, the R is still the best model choice imo. The whole 290 overboost with the Clubsport is just marketing hype, in the real world it's a waste. I would have loved to be able to spec the Clubsport seats and alcantara steering wheel in my R however!

However i would have bought them if they were available on the R, they look special. In pictures the CS looks good but in reality, the bumper blades look awful, it's not nearly low enough, only has two exhaust pipes and that "spoiler", what is that? Its hideous. And that's before even mentioning the fact that it's still FWD..

had leon 1,4 140hp for 2 years, no i changed it to new len cupra 2019, so so difference :D love that acceleration
