This article is incorrectly titled. Other states have full-service gas, but only in NJ is it mandatory (and self-service banned). And now that NJ has raised their gas tax to the point where their gas is no longer a bargain, they should allow self-service to possibly bring the price down.
They can get more customers and more fuel sold and it would bring back out of state drivers and there will be more gas tax revenue. The orange cones at the stations would be gone. It’s a win-win for EVERYONE even for the Jersey Girl Who Doesn’t Pump Gas.
I am a NJ resident and I rather pump myself I am at Costco and these guys are freaking slow and I am waiting waiting and I could do it fast and get out of there.
Me too. Scumbag Scutari doesn’t understand that we’ll have an option if we pass the legislation which he won’t do, but all he does is pass legislation to increase the gas tax.
Here in Brazil ALL gas stations have full service throughout the country. I found it a bit strange when I heard that you could pump your own gas in the U.S.
Self service gas stations doesn't make sense. NJ has one of the lowest gas prices in the country, with full service. people say self service will make it cheaper, OH REALLY? YOU SURE? Why aren't other states cheaper than NJ then? Shouldn't NJ's gas prices be the most expensive when there is full service labor? Self service being cheaper is a lie.
It’ll decrease wait times and the stations will be able to open up more pumps with orange cones blocked off. Are you denying that there is a problem with orange cones?
Hu? This is incorrect. It passed the house in Oregon, but the governor still needs to sign it. And by the way she is talking, I dont think it will happen.
In my state(Missouri) theres still some stations where they pump gas for you. This is NOT full service though, full service is when they will also wash your windshield, add coolant/oil if needed, and add air to tires. Most full service stations also do at least minor mechanical work like replacing hoses and belts, rebuilding carburetors(although most cars on the road now are fuel injected), etc
I do not want under any circumstances to get out of my car. We actually voted years ago to remain a full-service gas pump state and I want to keep it that way!
Wouldn't it be nice not to have to wait for someone though? The only time I would like to wait is in Minnesota it can get very cold (but then too cold for attendants to be out there all day anyway).
😂This explains it I pumped my own gas in New Jersey … I thought I was going to have to fight the guy at the pump pump …I pulled up to the pump and I got out to pump my gas I had entered my card and had just placed the pump in the tank a guy then comes from the car in front of me and say that he will pump my gas he proceeded to come towards me and demanded that he was going to pump my gas I told him that I had it he then walked up on me and got within arm’s reach which is to close to me at a gas pump with his voice raised I then proceeded to create distance between us so I pushed the man back once he got within arms reach you know with a little bit of strength so he knew I wasn’t playing and he started to raise his voice in a angry tone … I simply said to him in stern voice That he needed to lower his voice and to move around meaning take it somewhere else he just stood there visibly upset and he went into his pocket and I didn’t know what he was going to do so I was about to try my best to take him out with one hit but he then pulled out a-lot of $1s & $5s😅 and started counting I guess to try to show off his money… This was Literally right before 2020 I went for new years to watch the ball drop in NY.
This is great until your fuel cap isn’t replaced or the minimum wage jockey pump has into your diesel. I’ve seen them scratch peoples cars. Steal their cards. It’s just dumb.
It's pro local POWER, ELDERLY, FAMILIES, DISABLED, THE COST IS ON THE OWNER OF THE GAS STATION. THE GAS PRICES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SAME AS SURROUNDING STATES.
The bigger questions, when Jobs are eliminated, who is seeing the difference, hint it’s not the customers! Not only gas, even hospitals when they eliminate jobs, the salaries that would go to actual employees goes to the pockets of the board of directors and CEO in bonuses The rich stay rich and the poor in numbers keep rising
I love it!!! Wished every state would do!! I have got grease or something on my clothes Or brushed up against car. The weather at times... This would be great!!!!
There's should be no reason's at all that NJ State stayed in the distance of doing full service while all 52 other States have done away with All that long time ago. It's the Damn drivers responsibility to self service there gas ⛽ ⛽ Besides Man power loss to wages for that job has drop in value badly and there's no used to send Gas attended out for that shit.
What I don't understand is how New Jerseyans are allowed to drive their own motorvehicles? How is that considered safe?

Yes it's the same in Bolivia my friend. When I came here I was freaking surprised
new jersey should bring back the elevator operator
Surprised that isn’t the case already because of the large Jewish population here
I get my windows washed, tires checked, etc. 1 quart free oil, if needed.😂😂
Japan still does it
It’s dumb ! I rather pump my own gas then wait in lines
Well the description is wrong, someone is filling the gas tanks, that eliminates no one
Stupid law
Don’t Forget New York Too
Miami should consider full service gas stations I bet it will drastically reduce thr skimmers at the pump.
Buy 10 gallons bulk fuel, stored in 5 gallon containers.
There full service in NY too
That is how they do in Turkey
Just pumped my own gas in Oregon without being yelled at and/or threatened with arrest. It was glorious.
No way u could actually be arrested for that?
Full service would check the oil level
