Capitalism leaves us ALL with dilemmas like this where there is no ONE solution as BOTH options are equally HORRID. The criticism is supposed to help you decide for yourself "What am i ok with?" not as a rhetorical thought question so as to excuse myself from applying precise and proper criticisms.

The worst part is that this entire debate is being publicized at the expense of Pokimane, who literally only said “Moving to kick would compromise my morals and doing that for money is cringe to me” (paraphrased). She never said she thinks twitch is good. It just doesn’t happen to compromise her morals. And she never wanted to debate it. She simply said that she is going to act based on her personal opinion and is now getting dogged on by major content creators for a thing that literally everybody does all the time and isn’t even bad to do. Like this Twitch v Kick debate is a valid one to have and probably needs to be had but that fact that most people putting forward an argument into it do it to critique Pokimane and not just to critique either twitch or kick or both is really unfair to her. And most of the flak she’s getting not only unfairly criticizes her but draws a conclusion that the argument doesn’t even prove: the she’s insecure, exploitative, or childish when really their arguments would actually just conclude that she’s wrong in their opinion. I’m not a fan of Pokimane. First time I heard about her was about her apology video for saying the n word and then through offlinetv, so I def am always very happy to be critical of something she says if it’s actually bad. And this is def nothing to be critical of her for.

Whereas Kick is an immediate & reactionary attempt to circumvent lost channels of revenue. The false equivalency between the two is absurd because it misrepresents what ethics means. Both are unethical. But it is possible to criticize, harangue, and challenge the growth of another monstrosity predating on audiences in the immediate.

Firstly her opinion wasn't as simple as "Personally KICK agree with things don't agree with" She literally tried to guilt trip XQC into thinking his deal was a bad thing and his morals are in the wrong place. Which is why people attack her as she came off jealous ESPECIALLY as when she was first asked about it her words where "to be honest.. I don't really care that much".
She was also extremely narcissistic the whole debate with Xqc asking her a simple question like "do you know what liquidity is?" and her response was "Of course I know what liquidity is... I run 2 businesses so I think I'd know"
Now of course as a man I can't physically relate to woman's struggles or misogyny and I'm not going to act dumb and pretend it doesn't happen on a daily basis because it does... I've witnessed it first hand. However, this isn't misogyny. There will be some incel losers who attack her for being a woman yes. But there opinions are useless.

i hope there's legal action against kick by the us government. these gambling sites should be illegal, especially because it's so easy for young kids to use the site. this probably isn't going to happen but it's frankly disgusting what streamers will do to make a quick buck. they know exactly what they're promoting and don't give a shit if it ruins people's lives. i agree with pokimane on this one, twitch isn't great but kick was created specifically to sell gambling sites. also she has every right to not be comfortable as there is way less rules and regulations and that could be very dangerous to her and her audience.
also all these people calling out pokimane? what about the countless streamers on kick there to promote gambling sites? we should be focusing on those douchebags.

Marketing a large part of the platform based on free speech, letting people do horrible things, and then mods forcing xqc to stop streaming for watching batman. It's a slightly different issue than comparing the morals of twitch vs kick, but heavily plays into xqc's roll in going over to kick. I think kick is going to inevitably end up with very similar restrictions as twitch due to legal reasons, the only difference really is going to be gambling and the types of creators that move over. Which isn't looking great for kick so far....
