Birthday Song: (Hurra For Deg)
Hurra for deg som fyller ditt år,
Ja deg vil vi gratulere.
Alle i ring omkring deg vi står,
Å se nå vil vi masjere.
Bukke, nikke, neie, snu oss omkring,
Danse for deg med hopp og sprett og spring.
Ønske deg av hjertet alle gode ting,
Og si meg så hva vil du mere?
GRATULERE!
Hello!
Welcome to Norway and thank you so much for your comment on my video. I don't know when I'll be able to upload lesson #4, hopefully soon, but I just wanted to let you know that I do offer private Norwegian lessons if you are interested. Hope you are enjoying Oslo!
Best,
Michelle
I think I'm in love! Been studying Swedish for almost 2 years now and it's fun to hear how the two languages are so similar yet so different at times. You have a pleasant and calm way of speaking. Tack så mycket/takk så mye!
Hi Michelle
I'm writing from Barcelona, Catalonia.
I just wanted to thank you these Norwegian classes, Norway is a country that I admire. And tell you that to learn a language is very important that people who teach it, do in a fun and entertaining way, so students strive and learn more.
thank you very much
Jaume

Im so happy you post these! I'v been trying for years and one day would love to visit my family in Norway. This has helped me immensely. Tusen takk!
Your enthusiasm is so great! Its so much more fun to learn from someone who is clearly excited about it. Thank you for these lovely videos.
wow i love this girl. the way she smile! thanks so much
Thanks for including the "birthday song" during your class. More than the actual translation, it provides an insight as to the culture and perspective of the Norwegian people. It helped me to remember some of the things from family gatherings at my Great-Grandfather's house when I was a youth. I am enjoying your lessons and hope you continue to provide information an insight into the language, people, and culture of Norway. Respect to you, and my sincere thanks for your efforts.
You have an amazing voice and I love how enthusiastic you are about teaching norwegian
Hei Michelle!!! Keep your lessons coming! Jeg elsker dem :D Endelig har jeg fant veien til å forbedre meg i Norsk! Stor klem :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in Norway and that my videos were helpful! but yes it is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE here (Like i just payed 8 dollars for a coke at a restaurant expensive). It's taken a while to get used to, but Norway is a very wealthy country, that's why things are so expensive. Salaries are higher, but taxes are also very high and things are still expensive so Norwegians don't go out as often as Americans, but the Norwegian standard of living is among the highest in the world.
I just moved in bergen norway. Please do continue your lessons, i feel so at home when i actually hear someone speaking good english and all the more convenient to learn norwegian from. Thanks Michelle!
Hello Michelle,
I'm learning so much from your videos. I hope you continue to produce these. You make it very easy to understand and pleasing to listen to.
Thank you.
Robert
We will be visiting relatives in Norway soon, and this is so very helpful! Takk!
A very good teacher... Perfect diction and very clear. Thanks michelle!
I still think of those simple smiles and friendliness of the lessons, I see remnants of a tropical speak.
Hi Michelle :)
So glad to see a NEW video, planning my trip to Norway in just under 2 weeks and I have already learned so much from your other two video's! I will continue to follow you and I hope one day I can speak Norwegian as good as you! Hugs always, Jennifer xxx

These lessons are quite helpful, tusen takk!!! And you have a lovely singing voice!!!!
i`m in Oslo for a couple of weeks..and these videos help me so much..thank you..keep the good work.
my friend speaks english and another language so, i wanted to learn norwegian because i come from norway so, i found you on youtube and started to watch your videos. they are so fun and very interesting to watch
Boka is definitely the correct way to say "the book". "Ei" is just the feminine version. the improper way is how the Oslo dialect has merged "Ei" and "En" into the common "En"
Takk for this lesson. it is really helpful for me. i just started few week ago to learn Norwegian. you way of teaching is nice and lesson is well organised. we are expecting more lesson from you.
Love the way you teach miss Michelle..I've learned a lot...Tusen Takk Miss Michelle! :) Have a great day!

'
I am from Norway and Nynorsk is both written and spoken. In school we have to learn both. The reason is that if we receive a formal letter we have to write back in what they used. This is mostly just a "stupid" (I think so) thing we have to do at work.
Kristine Aalberg Well that's not really correct. Nynorsk is one of the official, written languages, and is simply based on how people speak (search for Ivar Åsen, those who want to read more on this). So people don't speak nynorsk, they write nynorsk and speak their dialect, which might be similar.
For those not familiar with nynorsk, it's basically just a language that came after we split from Denmark, and some people wanted a "norwegian"-language, given we had been under danish-control, and therefore been using danish as a written language. This is why we still today have the interesting difference in written and oral language, where we can easily communicate with Sweden orally, and Denmark in writing.
Btw: I think it's nice on paper that you will get a response in your own language if you write a formal letter, but some people are actually so bad at nynorsk that it might have the opposite effect. Where I work people writing nynorsk is known to have responded with "Please rewrite this in bokmål, so it's actually understandable".
Wow! Thank you very much for sharing your time and knowledge with us. You are amazing teacher, every lesson, every minute and every second with you is just a pure pleasent for the eyes and ears. You are not only beatiful but also very kind and sweet, I'm getting addicted to you;) Please dont stop making yours videos;) Tusen tak!
Thank you! I love Norwegian and I hope to do my exchange year in Norway. It's so easy to learn for me because I'm German and our language is so similar. Even the time is the same .)
I really enjoy these videos. It's a very amazing language.
Keep making these lessons... These are absolutely AMAZING! They've been extremely helpful to me, and I hope you will continue to make these. (:

Hi Michelle. My name is john and l have watched the 3 vidoes that you have made to teach us norwergian. When you made the first two videos, you were very relaxed and talking freely and l like the way you explain things and you are my favorite teacher through youtube. On your third video, l have sensed that some disrespecful people who wrote comments have disappointed you. Please ignor the bad people and continue with us who wait eagerly for your vidoes. You are the best and keep it up!!!
You have such a beautiful voice OMG!!!!!
Your lesson is very important for me...tusen takk
Hei Michelle, thanks a lot for ur video, it really helps me a lot during my Norwegian learning days, wish u can post lesson #5 soon, can't wait to see it!
Thank you for the lessons because I plan to visit on holiday in 2020
hi michelle you look great.. thanks for your videos its the best toturial ive ever seen in youtube.. very interesting id check all the other videos and i find them boring.. your the best.. tussen takk...I'll wait for your next lesson..
You are possibly the best Norwegian teacher on UA-cam in my opinion, but please please please, when listing things like numbers, days, months etc, just slow down by literally a second per each word, and leave the text up longer... you probably don’t realise but the text you put on screen literally stays for 1 second... for someone like me who wants to copy down things like days, numbers etc, it would be so much better if I could just copy them as you list them. I’m a fast typer but still need to pause and go back several times when you list stuff..
But thank you, you really are amazing, there aren’t very many GOOD Norwegian teachers on UA-cam, so I’m super happy to have you. :)
It is feb 6 2020 and I am learning the language with this!! Super helpful for this socal gal!!! Wish you had more videos. But thankyou for taking the time for the ones you did do(:
You have an awesome voice!

thank you for ur lessons, its great and i have been having 3 teachers including u, now karin which is crienxzy the norwegian teacher has brought the latest video saying the new way of country 30 like tredve. and also en og tredve means 31 . so i guess the more u watch the more u learn. I am looking forward to go to Norway this summer as my mum and brother lives there and I have been living in UK since 1988. so I hope its going to be a new start but don't take me wrong, i have been norway many times. thank u for ur kind videos and ur sweet way of teaching.
wasim bader
Its great to go through your 3 video, I am wondering of going through some more. I really appreciate for this. Please add some more installments............ tusen like!!!!!
thank so so much for uploading this video. It helps me lot....:)
Hi, Michelle! I'm so happy that you're enjoying our beautiful city of Oslo - and I completely agree with you, it is amazing here!
Just a quick note on the different "kinds" of nouns you've been explaining so well. In elementary and middle school, we're taught to differentiate between hankjønn (masculine nouns), hunkjønn (feminine noun) and intetkjønn ("no gender" noun). So the key is (like in most of the European languages) to know how each noun "gender" is conjugated.
Also add some more singing! That was great! Upload more performances as well.
thanks for up load these videos and need more thank you so much love your vedios
Tusen Takk! Wondeful videos really helping me get my head round the pronunciation. Could you cover the names of countries, and numbers above 20 please? Tusen takk
