Snakkes or sees are interesting because technically I think the "s" at the end makes them passive forms of those verbs. For instance, "Vi maler huset" (We’re painting the house) versus "Huset males" (The house is being painted). In English writing it's often called the passive voice, instead of the active voice. And you can also make jokes by saying things like "Mistakes were made," instead of admitting "I made a mistake." In the case of "vi sees" or "vi snakkes" though, the passive form gives the verb reciprocity, so "vi sees" would mean "we'll see each other." I like these phrases since we definitely use "see you later" or "talk to you later" a lot in English. Just my 2 cents on them! Thanks as always for awesome videos, Karin! I've learned so much!

I've been learning norwegian for almost 40 days now with Duolingo. It's really helpful to hear a real person pronounce the language (on Duolingo it sounds very much computer generated). It's a good listening training, at the very least. So... tusen takk og ha det! :)

Interesting… In Czech we use quite similar phases - we say "Have yourself fine!" as goodbye and also not "Vi snakkes", but something, what I can translate as "Vi høres" :)

This is so weird that I'm watching this. I randomly watched video a of yours, liked the way you talk (the ae, phi, and a0 video). Watched another video, couldn't understand a few things in (the sounds skj, kj, rs) so I found Norwegian language interesting - because it was a glaring blindspot that I couldn't hear two sounds as different (wrong and right way of saying skjole) Now I've subscribed to your channel, and I've no clue why I'm watching these videos :) Maybe because you seem like a fun person (I like how your videos sound/feel if that makes sense :)) and norwegian also seems strange and interesting, so, yeah. And one quick question for you: I have read somewhere that it is more common to say "ha det" to answer someone telling first "ha det bra", but that the opposite is not very "Norsk" (= you do not hear someone telling "ha det bra" to answer one who told "ha det"). Is Halla very common? I've gotten in the habit of using that as my go to, but I don't have a lot of Norwegian people to talk to as a frame of reference. It's hard to find uses of it online (google translate, etc) so I'm wondering if it's not a very common way of saying hello.

Do all scandinavians undestand each other at some degree? i mean sweden people with norwegian and danish etc? i can guess is like my native language spanish compared with portuguese that is pretty undestandable and maybe italian that its a little harder to undestand each other but without a doubt you can communicate.
Actually we don't. Icelandic and finnish is totally different from Norwegian, Swedish and Danish. Norwegians, Swedish people and danish people usually understand each other quite well except some hard Dialects. I am Norwegian and I have worked as a flight attendant so I have been quite a lot around all the different scandinavian languages. I do understand icelandic to some extent but there is nothing about finnish that I understand. Llevo toda la vida viviendo en españa asi que hablo perfectamente español y los idiomas escandinavos entre ellos son mas faciles de entender que español, italiano y portugues. :)

Based on these examples, I think we got more of our greetings from Teutonic and Nordic languages than we did from the romance languages.
I hope in Norway when you say "Hello" in Norwegian,they answer "Hello" too in Norwegian,I hope they are polite too

Norway needs to grow some balls and enforce Nynorsk as the written standard and of course speech would shortly start to follow.
