I own the xsi and g10 and must say that the g10 competes for the quality. Though the xsi does pull ahead, its very impressive to see a point and shoot show such amazing quality. Unfortunately, shooting speed is slow, but if you are doing everything but sports, this is your camera. Another point to note, the digital zoom does a great job correcting the loss of pixels. I have taken many excellent shots at the 20x (5x o and 4x d). Enjoy!
Is this the best option for a consumer wishing to get more into photography but is still not ready to step up into the entry level Dslr market? I heard the luminix L3 is the G10 main rival? I want a light camera with the best image quality but has functions in which I have full control.
Wish the next one will have a vari angle LCD, Wider angle lense: at least: 27mm, more zoom, lower MP for better noise reduction. HD capability and AVCHD compression. Faster or multiple processor for better continuous shooting. Smaller size , fit in pants and rechargable battery. (someone please sent this to canon) if you agree with me
I have one question. when pushing down on the shutter button, is it instant? could you please compare the shutter speed of the g10 to a canon eos rebel xti or 40d
Thanks Mike that was very helpful, it sure sounds like a great camera, am just a bit worried that I will remember all that when I want to take a quick photo :)
a it does the same thing but when yu do digital zoom on full resolution you are losing resolution but in the other mode it is already low resolution so it doesn't go any lower its a gimmick for sure lol comment back
These G series are so overpriced. Only good thing i like is the compact size but an sx10 has alot better features. I can't believe the these UGLY looking cameras cost more than the sx10. They look like an early 80's toy camera. They perform bad in low light. For the price its Urrrrrghhh.
I must say that you did a good job on a comprehensive review on the G10 highlighting the important features
I currently have the G9, and am considering the G10. I wish they would have kept time-lapse video on the G10.
