Hey guys, I just wanted to check in and see how you guys are all doing? Things have escalated quite a bit in the last weeks and I really hope you’re all staying safe and healthy. I have already filmed a number of Sydney food / travel guide videos all of which will be posted in the next few uploads. I know it seems a bit out of place to be posting these videos when travel for leisure, or going on a holiday is probably the last thing on people’s minds right now… but hopefully it gives you a bit of entertainment and takes your mind off things a little? And who knows, when we get through this, maybe you’ll come visit and check out some of these places in person! 😊 and in the meantime, stay safe, take care and I will catch you guys next week.
Its been awful tis past few days. A few countries going into lockdown modes, peeps are panic buying & etc. No matter how dire things are, i hope that we don't abandon our social responsibilty towards each other and be selfish. Stay safe and healthy Janice. Wishing for good health to everyone!
I think your vlogs are needed at this time of isolation and lock downs, it shows people are in this together, wherever you are located. Support those who are at high-risk and stay healthy too!
Thanks for continuing to post. Soon this will all be over and travel will resume. Love the idea about Altitude/Blu. As a combo it sounds like a great way to spend the first (jet lag adjust) or last day (to reminisce) of a vaca. I'll vouch for the ferry to/from Manly. definitely a great way to see the harbor as a whole; and you can get a great selfie with the opera house and bridge in the background.
I've been scouring videos in preparation for an upcoming trip to Sydney, and yours was the first to mention any of these ideas. Thanks for a great (and pleasantly enthusiastic) set of tips!
the old coal loader tunnel area at Waverton is a great alternative to explore , there is a couple of cafes , walk around balls head reserve, great alternative views of the harbour, can also walk back to the harbour bridge with a stop at Wendy's secret garden
Coal Loader is indeed great and you can combine it with several walks and amazing Harbour views too. Smoothey Park, Balls Head, Berry Island, Caradah Park and Sawmiller's Reserve are all close by. All hidden gems most people don't know about.
Really enjoyed your vlog, Janice! An alternative tourist attraction that Eddy and I have experienced is the I’m Free Walking Tours - there’s a city tour and another tour at the Rocks. They’re really informative, and a nice way to see the city while getting some exercise! It’s free in that you give a tip of your choice, if you wish.
Well done great content, attractions, food , views, all round great job well done. Glad your back to your best, your really going places ur talent is really showing keep it up janice
Hey Janice, I missed some videos lately from you. But i was always on the lookout for Sydney Harbour views. I hav'nt been there but this came up on my list. UA-cam is really connecting me , and thanks again for another superb video.
Great video Janice - you nailed it. Told a number of Flight Attendants on their first Sydney trips that the Manly Ferry is the must do bargain if they only have a short layover. My only suggestion is maybe a picnic in the Botanic Gardens as another lunch option. Enjoyed seeing your new assistant! Think it totally appropriate you are still posting - inspires us for when all the distancing and isolation is over. But you and your family stay safe
Well done, JF ... suggest the following : North Head (spectacular views), Palm Beach + Barrenjoey Lighthouse, Cremorne Point and the short walk to Mosman Bay, Balmoral Beach on an uncrowded sunny day (maybe in Winter, or a working weekday), the parks above Mona Vale Beach (near the hospital), the bottom of Blues Point Road, McMahon's Point (facing the Bridge, the Opera House, CBD and Darling Harbour), and Wendy's Secret Garden at Lavender Bay/North Sydney.
Good suggestions. I'd add the bus to Palm Beach, which will give great views on the way there. When you arrive, take the climb to Barrenjoey Lighthouse from where you can see around Broken Bay, into the mouth of the Hawkesbury River, and into Pittwater
I'm traveling to Sydney in two weeks with my mom and absolutely binge-ing all of your Australia travel videos, even though I lived for half a year in Sydney in 2020 LOL. These alternatives to tourist attractions are SO CLEVER. thank you so much for putting together such a comprehensive list! that bit at the end with your mom is so cute haha i've done the exact same with my mom and the chinglish. LOVE FROM CANADA!
Currently binge watching a lot of your videos! I'm from Sydney too and recognise a lot of the places that you visit. Great to see content from a Sydney based UA-camr :)
The main attractions as in most cities are expensive , these are great ideas of places to visit I've done the Manly Ferry on the yes yes it's a great experience but missed the South Tower on the bridge walk across it but missed it ( How did I Miss it lol ) a really great video . I am just back from Perth Australia visiting friends ( not my first time ) it's was hot and humid had a great time love Perth also when I visited Sydney a few years ago it was fantastic. Nice vlog as always
Wow, as a local these tips are amazing where only locals would know. You are definitely showing hidden affordable gems of Sydney that would not be in tour brochures. Janice... you should branch out more and do other topics such as working life in Sydney, interview locals from the south-western parts of Sydney (if you dare to go there), outer boundaries of Sydney and local animals and insects.
Hi Janice, thank you for another nice video. It was so nice to see Sydney and beautiful views , good to know about alternative tourist attractions :) It`s also nice to see that people are walking free around the city, we are in Norway and nobody is out because of the lockdown.
We’re heading your way in late September (just two years after we planned !). Great to get the ‘insider’ view on alternative places of interest for the traveller.
Janice, another really good and informative vlog today. Whilst it is true doing a travel related vlog at this time may seem a bit out of place due to all the increasing Covid19 related restrictions on travel at this time. I think it is actually very important and helpful as it gives those who watch your vlogs (like me...😁) a chance relax and have a break from all the negative news related to the Covid19 pandemic. Please keep up the good work & most importantly stay safe...😁👍
Visited the city way back in New Years 2008when I was still a 15yr old kid. Now really want to stay there someday! This video is great! I don’t know why I’m watching this being so far away. Still motivating!
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
I really miss your second weekly videos. Everything here is closing down because they don't want to be put in a situation where choices have to be made on who lives and who dies, and I think it's the right thing to do. That being said, take care of yourself and stay safe.
My wife and I have plans to be in Sydney for 2 months Oct15-Nov15. Hopefully the world will be back to normal by then. Love your videos. They are super helpful and we will be using many of your suggestions. Maybe we will even run into you one day. How many people with cameras and selfie sticks can there be? LOL
I'm a William blue student graduate so when you said William blue fine dining I was so shocked 😂 our fine dining menu is also the cheapest compared to standard price because we are all students. But our food quality is good. So if you want to make a booking to reserve you need to wait 2 weeks
Great suggestions for touring on a budget. The student restaurant was a very good one, I wish I had known when I was in Sydney a week ago. Alas I am back in Houston - I was worried about a lockdown (-;
What a brilliant video. Well done on giving the alternatives to the tourist traps. I have always thought the ferries are the best and cheapest way to see Sydney Harbour. Even better if you can befriend an old Sydneysider who can tell what you are looking at. But you can also google a lot of information.
Thanks for all the informations ! I plan to come to Sidney in August, please tell me how is the weather temperature ? Do I need to bring the heavy jacket? Thanks
Hi DT,example if u have a jacket like the Uniqlo shop sells..yes bring one of those and a jumper just in case..at the moment it’s starting to get cold but for me I’m still wearing T shirts around..hope this helps
I'm totally hooked on Sydney... such a cool city and your views from the Shangri-La, I’d be hanging out there every night 😉 Unfortunately can’t do that now, all bars, restaurants, and theaters closed except for food delivery or to go. Hey JF...another great travel video !! The pylons on the bridge don't actually do anything to hold the Sydney Harbour Bridge in place other than look good. !!! The views are sensational though !! Sad to admit I am a Seniors Card holder and it makes the CQ to Manly trip attractive on any day !!! Well done on the Shangri- La Hotel bar...one of the best in Sydney. My son and I were planning to visit family in Perth this summer and of course visit Sydney, but it looks like that won't be happening this year. We are currently on a shelter-in-place, schools are closed for the next 3 weeks, and no non-essential travel.
And yes, it looks like I won't be seeing toilet paper, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, alcohol, and paper towels until everyone has stopped hoarding them. And even rice at the Asian store!
Yeah it’s pretty crazy..I hope you and your family are keeping safe and healthy!
Amazing tips!
Is there any one day pass AUD 2.8 for the ferry from circular quey nowaday?
Very helpful
Aloha Janice, thank you for the great tips! Is the $2.80 you mentioned regarding the ferries the total price for the whole day, or the cap per each return trip?
For Sunday it’s for the whole day!
Well done Janice on sharing a few of the hidden gems in our city. That’s exactly what a local in the know would do. I've been here for do long and I don't even about it yet walk everywhere she went
Such a crazy expensive city
Awesome video 👍👍
Have checked on the Williams Blue fine dining and was sad to know that they had permanently closed 😔

Hi Janice,
Could you give me a recommendation of best taxi services and best cost price?
We have 6 to 8 adults passengers need a private taxi for transport us from SYD airport to White Bay Port, and from White Bay Port to SYD airport.
Also from SyD airport to Holiday Inn hotel and hotel to airport..
Base on you live in Sydney for a long time, Il hope you can advise and help us on this.
