As the infamous Tuco Salamanca would put it, "“Tight, tight, tight! Yeah! Arh, blue, yellow, pink, whatever, man! Just keep bringing me that!” & BTW... Extremely Nice Bass lines bro!
This is one of the top 5 bass covers ever for me ...This song has always been good but you made it an annual replay for a full half hour good THANK YOU
Need to tell you I watched this a little over two years ago and it introduced me to all of George Clinton, Bootsy Collins and it was the single catalyst that made me passionate about playing bass and introduced me to the world of funk. You changed my life dawg.
Mo funk than than the delics. You get it got it good. One of my favorite concerts was in '77 Parliament Funkadelic Bootsy's rubber band. Front row with 4 of my best friends and the only white guys in a sold out concert in Greenville South Carolina. I'm amazed how well you play and enjoy that music from an older generation. Thanks for your inspiration . dedication and motivation
I'm not trying to gush, but that is one of the cleanest, nastiest MM-pickup basses I've ever heard. The mid range is EXACTLY where it needs to be. Kudos on the nice collection sir.
Absolutely right. Not to pay any disservice to David, he's this good because he has practiced a lot. but not only that...he has practiced material that has kept his interest over time. And that's the key to sustaining your patience, especially to begin with: Learn music that *you* wan't to play, not what others tell you to. A good teacher should always ask what songs you are interested in learning.
This made me go back and listen to this jam all over again. A Funkadelic tour de force and should be mentioned right up there with Maggot Brain and Red Hot Mama!!
I agree man...well said!...when I picked up the bass a few years ago, i came to realize 2 important aspects...determination to learn a song regardless of how difficult it seems...and most importantly...the patience to learn something....its all about taking it as slow as u need to and getting faster and faster through practice!
mark of a great bassline is when you can play the same line over and over and still listen to it as though you've just heard it for the first time~...well done David! :D...that is one juicy hook
Wow! You finally changed your slapbass techinque! from the flea pointing thumbs up to the more traditional slapbass technique! Also, beautiful bass....
Hi, for sure practice leads to technique but not to skill, that's the point: talent is a gift (from heaven?)and obviously, David's really talented! The reason why we are so many to follow him :)
anytime i watch you videos brother, it gets me sooo hyped to play my bass!! i have learned soo much because i want to play like you do and i push the envelope every time i play! thanks for the inspiration and awesome cover!!
Well done fella,, Well Done! This was my first Funkadelic album...and the song blew me away! Back in 75 when I was a teen, I love the kick ass drums "Tiki" and Bernie's synths/organs on this monster. The guitars "MIke Hampton" is a beast of course with Gary backing him up because I think Eddie didn't play on this album and was no longer with the group.. But,,,BUT that Damn Bass drove this monster of a Funkadelic Classic....Cordell Mosson was kicking Ass.. Dude you were kicking A** also... I saw you feeling it...Great job
Actually, this is Eddie Hazel. Was told this by a group member years ago. The bass player is Reggie McBride, and the drummer is Barry "Frosty" Frost. The same 3 play on Stuffs and Thangs. Tiki and Boogie play on the rest of the album, except for Be My Beach, which is Bootsy. All are credited on the album as either "Funkadelic Alumni", or "Guest Funkadelics". Eddie would only get to cut loose like this, one more time on a Funkadelic album. That was on "Comin Round The Mountain".
George Clinton frequently used outside musicians on many tracks, as well as the large number of people who were part of P-Funk. McBride, and drummer Barry Frost were at the time, members of Rare Earth, who Clinton knew well from his days in Detroit. They played on Earhole, and Stuffs and Thangs. Billy Nelson played bass on Better By The Pound, and you never knew when Bootsy would show up on a track. Boogie was the main live bassist during this period though. RIP Boogie!
Wow! I did'nt know that!! Over the years, there have been a lot of times musician credits got attributed to the wrong musician. Thanx for the info, bro'!!

This is one of my favorite Funkadelic songs of all times. And as an amateur bass player, I'm impressed, to say the least...
Brother, you killed it!!! Boogie Mosson would've been proud!!!!

I'm not trying to gush, but that is one of the cleanest, nastiest MM-pickup basses I've ever heard. The mid range is EXACTLY where it needs to be. Kudos on the nice collection sir.

I've been waiting years for someone to upload a bass cover for this song. You did and you're the fucking man.
