Jaynaya is a proud Gunditjmara woman who always aspired to working in law enforcement. Supported by Skillinvest, Jaynaya undertook a Jobs Victoria Youth Employment Scheme traineeship with Victoria Police in Warrnambool and completed a Certificate III in Business while working. Jaynaya’s hard work and motivation to be a leader for the younger Aboriginal generation led to her winning the Victoria Police/Skillinvest Outstanding Leadership Award in 2021. Jaynaya says this opportunity has helped to shape her future, and she encourages other young people to join the Youth Employment Scheme.
