Can anyone here tell me why so many of the new M2's haters are actually BMW owners themselves?. The looks have grown on me personally, and it seems like such an exciting drive.
They’re literally just mad that they don’t have the new one and that theirs is more dated especially with all the new features and the newer power plant. BMW owners always hate the new gen until they can get it, then they love it. It’s clock work lol. I have a new M2 on the way, used to have an E92 and it was the same thing when the E92 came out, then when the F80s came out. Now everyone loves them.
Proper weapon clearly, but I really struggle with the looks. That colour doesn't work at all on it for me. Look forward to seeing it in different colours.
My question; no reviewer will answer but you are probably best equipped to is… The Original m2 costs around £30k, is this £35k more car? Equally the same for the comps at around £40k is it £25k more car? Is it worth the money? I don’t doubt that’s it’s a great car, but cars like these are getting far too expensive!!!
I had the original M2 and purchased it in April 2016 when it was launched, it was £51 with the DCT box and didn't come with many standard options, no carbon roof, no HUD, no HK sound, normal sports seats, non M engine.... That's a fact.

I’m in agreement these cars are really getting to silly prices. Can’t wait to see th M2 face to face. The M240i has quite a bit of a presence so this M2 should be good.

Unfortunately looked at another review of this car form one of you compatriots (won't say his name), and I wasn't able to watch it to the end because of the shrieking, immaturity, sexual innuendos and bad "acting" - I guess his audience is more in the teenage group. Never knew the exhaust changed from Sport to Sport Plus. Great video Joe. Saw an M240i on the road recently and it had a lot of presence, so can only imagine how this looks.

Market conditions are being artificially manipulated to maintain used car values and the excuse that manufacturers want to ensure demand outstrips supply, these conditions allow manufacturers to dictate higher prices, prices that a minority of wealthy consumers are willing to pay and can easily afford!
Joe, were the other larger channels watching you and taking notes just to get all the proper details on the new M2...because they would be wise to do so!
1800kg for a 2 series is insane. Sorry but I’m just not interested in this sort of bulk on what should be a small car. This is 5 series weight 15 years ago.
I'll never ever buy a BMW built in Mexico. Also the body is so rude. I prefer to invest money in real German BMWs built in the past. In my opinion BMW reached the peak with Chris Bangle. Do you have £100k to spend? Then buy a nice E36/E46/E92 M3. Do u have even more money? Then buy a E30 M3 or a E9 CSI.
I saw a comment on another video that said "it looks like a Grand Theft Auto version" of a BMW. That is to say it looks like a poor attempt to avoid copyright, it's a massive step backwards from the previous M2's design. Looks like a plastic toy around the front particularly.
The m2 is dead it went from 3400lb to 3800lb and much bigger, the whole point of the m2 was the lighter weight and small wheebase. Plus its hideous, too refined, too grippy
"its so good" no, no its not. its heavier, its longer, the rear seat cant fit a person in that back that's even less then six feet tall! the previous M2 will fit a adult at 5'11 , no problem. the shift knob on it is "rubber'y" the civic type R has a better shifter. its less playful and is absolutely HIDEOUS! i own a M2 comp and went to BMW to test drive it and its an absolute disappointment! i do enjoyh your videos joe and am a fan of the channel but this review is def biased haha
The Type R probably has better handling and steering too. BMW really started going downhill when they started orientating their cars more towards grand tourers instead of sports cars. A coworked owns a first gen Z4 and was dissappointed how soft and sluggish the never Z4 is, the salesman apparently said "thats what people want". Theres a reason Albert Biermann left the company for Hyundai/Kia.
I can imagine the interior with the carbon buckets would be a lovely place to sit.. and it still has that glorious straight six which is something special in this day and age. However, the exterior is just so jarring. I just don't understand what BMW are doing. You shouldn't need an adjustment period - the car should be stunning , period. I remember seeing the F87 M2 and instantly wanting one. Sad really, but I am sure there's plenty of people who will still buy it.

@362chop made in Mexico has a bad rap, but just like made in Korea or China it doesn't mean they can't improve. Labor is just cheaper and allows them to sell a car very similar to an M4 for $20k less. So far I haven't heard too many complaints. I put a small deposit on a 2025

Brilliant vid as always. Delighted to hear the new M2 is a gem (was concerned about the increase in weight). That said, if the base M2 is 460hp, the Competition version is bound to be very close to the M3/M4, which.....
The car would be perfect if they just did all the updates but kept the original design the same. Otherwise just can't get over the design and all the color choices suck too. What man wants a pastel m2? Is that the type of a guy that will go for a manual? Are they trying to compensate for the aggressive design by offering pussy colors? I just don't get the direction here.
lost its soul a lil bit. i dont mind the looks that much but the increased weight combined with automatic transmission/soft manual doesnt do it for me, not to mention the colour choices.
After watching throttle house's review of the manual and auto , they preferred the auto, which I thought such a shame that BMW didn't do a manual box that they enjoyed. They really liked the auto saying the car came alive and felt faster. Emira or M2 or Cayman GTS?
Glad to get another perspective on the m2 as its been mostly bad or meh reviews so far (too heavy, too ugly, not that fast, bad gearing, too much turbo lag, manual not as good, etc)... still think I would go manual supra over m2 if I was looking in this segment but the thought of being able to do a quick ecu tune on this true M engine (finally) would be intriguing... Then again prob would just pay a bit more and go m4/m3 xdrive and get possibly the best daily all rounder on the market (and also better looking as long as you go dark colors to blend in the grill)
Only the side profile is attractive. Front isn’t - looks like it is missing the bottom front body colour trim…no protection from stone chips for the radiator. Lights at the back - Sloth from Ice age. An M car should be WOW and lust after one. The M4 until 2020 - a real stunner - head turner IMO. Beaver tooth front grill on M3 and more so on M4 IMO looks pretty awful. Only if the colour is a dark colour ideally black will it blend ‘relatively’ fine.
the front lower bumper across being black is horrible ... needs to be the same color in blue i think ....and that dashboard / screen .... needs to go ... looks like a big tv just thrown in there .... porsche classic interior is much needed in this >>
It was always clear to me that the car will perform amazingly. When I first saw it, I almost started crying, denial kicked in. This can't be the final version, it looks like a cheap 20 bucks eBay body kit slapped onto an actual M2. People told me, it'll grow on me, but it hasn't ... I'm so sad 😢

You are one of the best and most concise reviewers I've ever come across on UA-cam! Unlike many others, you go in so much detail in regards to the way the car drives. I'm so impressed with the car that I've already placed an order for one.
I think it looks decent. A few things made me cancel my first on list build slot. Number one. The interior screen and graphics are absolutely gastly. Second the rear lower bumper looks like a “yeah that will do” effort. And for the money including ultimate pack. For £2k more you can get an ultimate pack M4. So that’s what I did. Three. That blue will be disliked as much as Yas Marina blue on the f82 launch nine years ago. 😂
Beautiful car and so want 1 but the thing is the new law is coming out in July where all cars are going to be fitted with speed limiters on so you can't exceed the speed limit. Apparently you can by pass it but the government are looking to see if it has made any difference to accidents etc .If it finds out everyone has switched them off through the data they have they are going to make them all fixed so basically we can't have any fun anymore .I get that speed kills etc but the punishment for being a complete spaz should be life in prison if you kill someone and not to take the enjoyment of cars and having a bit of fun. All top car franchises will go but as everyone will be buying 1.0 fiestas as everyone can only do 70 mph and no more .Basically in a nutshell and sorry about the rant but its all SHIT .🤨

So what is the real price in $s? Pounds are irrelevant in this country. Also, one of the most performance data metrics is 5mph-60 mph. Because this reflects turbo lag, and is much more relevant to everyday driving. No body uses launch control except at the drag strip. So the 0-60mpg data are meaningless. So I am considering trading my Jaguar F type V8S, which has instant on SC power. I am trying to research either a M3C or a M4C , or even this M2C. However, I am really interested in what their 5-60 mph times are to compare with the Jag. Data I have seen on C&D reported 0-50mph 3.1sec, but 5mph to 60 mph is 4.2!!! Any words of wisdom please. I would hate to trade the Jag and be disappointed. thanks
My God, I'm sure it drives wonderfully.🙂 And it does look like a great package...with only one and I think very unfortunate exception: the exterior design. The BMW design team strike again! They really must've been either very drunk or extremely high. when they decided how it will look like. No doubt it's a wonderful machine, and am absolutely sure I would love driving it, but boy what a f*cking awful design choice...again!

The transmission sounds snappier than Auto in the M3/M4; almost DCT-like. Did they make some improvements here?

Weird nerds are constantly complaining that this box is too slow and should have been DCT. It performs brilliantly

Only the side profile is attractive. Front isn’t - looks like it is missing the bottom front body colour trim…no protection from stone chips for the radiator. Lights at the back - Sloth from Ice age. An M car should be WOW and lust after one. The M4 until 2020 - a real stunner - head turner IMO. Beaver tooth front grill on M3 and more so on M4 IMO looks pretty awful. Only if the colour is a dark colour ideally black will it blend ‘relatively’ fine.
My neighbour has an M240i and it looks a lot nicer than this monstrosity.
The M3/M4 front end starts to look acceptable compared to this one.
The back is horrendous also in any colour other than black.
the front lower bumper across being black is horrible ... needs to be the same color in blue i think ....and that dashboard / screen .... needs to go ... looks like a big tv just thrown in there ....

would love to see the CS, as we can all agree 1700kg for an M2 is not ideal. Glad to see it doesn't feel that weight though!

It was always clear to me that the car will perform amazingly. When I first saw it, I almost started crying, denial kicked in. This can't be the final version, it looks like a cheap 20 bucks eBay body kit slapped onto an actual M2. People told me, it'll grow on me, but it hasn't ... I'm so sad 😢

I think it looks decent. A few things made me cancel my first on list build slot. Number one. The interior screen and graphics are absolutely gastly. Second the rear lower bumper looks like a “yeah that will do” effort. And for the money including ultimate pack. For £2k more you can get an ultimate pack M4. So that’s what I did. Three. That blue will be disliked as much as Yas Marina blue on the f82 launch nine years ago. 😂
Beautiful car and so want 1 but the thing is the new law is coming out in July where all cars are going to be fitted with speed limiters on so you can't exceed the speed limit.
Apparently you can by pass it but the government are looking to see if it has made any difference to accidents etc .If it finds out everyone has switched them off through the data they have they are going to make them all fixed so basically we can't have any fun anymore .I get that speed kills etc but the punishment for being a complete spaz should be life in prison if you kill someone and not to take the enjoyment of cars and having a bit of fun. All top car franchises will go but as everyone will be buying 1.0 fiestas as everyone can only do 70 mph and no more .Basically in a nutshell and sorry about the rant but its all SHIT .🤨

So what is the real price in $s? Pounds are irrelevant in this country. Also, one of the most performance data metrics is 5mph-60 mph. Because this reflects turbo lag, and is much more relevant to everyday driving. No body uses launch control except at the drag strip. So the 0-60mpg data are meaningless. So I am considering trading my Jaguar F type V8S, which has instant on SC power. I am trying to research either a M3C or a M4C , or even this M2C. However, I am really interested in what their 5-60 mph times are to compare with the Jag. Data I have seen on C&D reported 0-50mph 3.1sec, but 5mph to 60 mph is 4.2!!! Any words of wisdom please. I would hate to trade the Jag and be disappointed. thanks

My God, I'm sure it drives wonderfully.🙂 And it does look like a great package...with only one and I think very unfortunate exception: the exterior design. The BMW design team strike again! They really must've been either very drunk or extremely high. when they decided how it will look like. No doubt it's a wonderful machine, and am absolutely sure I would love driving it, but boy what a f*cking awful design choice...again!
