S20 all the way.

S21. Does the link that u gave ships in the Philippines? I'm curious. 😁
Mike can you do a video about which last year smartphones will be a good buy in 2021 and should people wait for new phones or buy last year ones.
I'm staying with my s20. I'm so mad they got rid of the expandable storage on the s21, and I really hope they don't make that mistake again with future models.
I take a ton of photos and videos, and I want to be able to fit all my photography and memories on my phone - easily accessible when I want to look through them or show someone something.
It's not a mistake, it's done on puprose. This is one of the "floating" features. It gets added first and then gets removed and they skip a year. At least it was like this untill now. We'll see with S22
Yes you are not the only one I got the S20 Plus earlier this year instead of the S21 because of the expandable storage. I have about 10,000 pics and vids saved on my 64 Gig micro SD card and I am almost close to filling it up so that 128 Gig won't work for me because I also saved my apps to my memory card.
@Ahmed M i've already tried that and it doesn't work for me

I had both and like the S21, even though I've only used it for a few days. The plastic build, battery, speakers and fingerprint reader feels much better. The only big plus I notice on the S20 is the expandable storage but I've always had problems with the fingerprint reader
Here's why the s21 is a better deal:
1) 90% of ppl put a case on their phones, so it doesn't matter if its glass or plastic
2) I don't think anyone chooses the 60hz 1440p option on the s20 over the 120hz 1080p (including me), so you're gonna end up with the 120hz 1080p option anyways on both phones
3) the amount of curve on the 20's screen is the best, but a flat display would save you money and time that you'll put while looking for a reliable screen protector that actually works (not mentioning if your case is screen protector friendly or not)
4) your s21 will be supported for the next 3 android versions (12, 13, 14), when the s20 will stop at android 13
5) adaptive refresh rate = better battery life
6) you'll own the latest and greatest
in reality, the SD card is the only compromise you'll be making
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the S20 come with 1440p 60Hz enabled be default? (since 1440p is the native resolution.)
If so, most people will literally use it like that. Only tech enthusiasts that comprehend what 120Hz is will bother going to the settings to manually enable 1080p at 120Hz.
Most average users are fine with 1440p at 60Hz aka they don't care.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M aka we can't see over 60hz
bro.....i rest my case. thanks
1. This is actually true
2. I dont even use 120hz on my S23 Ultra
3. Curved displays look better imo
4. Android is barely changing. There's almost no difference between 12 and 15
5. It barely makes a difference, like an hour. Also, SD 865 is more power efficient than SD 888 is. 888 has overheating issues.
6. Who even cares
Nice one... I’ll be keeping my S20 plus as I want a SD card and the cameras are almost the same. I guess if your buying new get the s21 and if you have a s20 there is no reason to get a new one this year.

I'm fine with my S20+, no issues for me really. 5-6hrs screen on time at 120hz is enough for me. I'm excited for the next one though since they said it will proably have the Exynos-AMD gpu.
i get max 5 hours sot under normal usage on my s20+ (exynos) at 120hz stable. Its a great phone with awesome display and cameras and One UI so far is the best android in terms of stability and optimization, other than that its definitely not worth to upgrade to s21 yet.. maybe if s22 comes it is worth it.
@@tycoon7885 same here, i get 5hrs with 120hz bluetooth and data always enabled(though I'm mostly connected to wifi). I'm not really impressed with the 2100 so yes maybe the S22 which samsung say will feature the exynos-amd SoC.

It dial's the screen back to 48hz only the ultra does the 120-10hz
I got my s20 6 months ago I think performance is very similar even with less ram and better processor on the s21. The mic on the s21 sounds better but just a little. I love your content btw, you've helped me a lot to decide what devices to get with your reviews
S21 is a refined version of s20 with better software and hardware but they dropped some important features from the s20 like the display, sd card support and a plastic body which balanced the value of both phones. So you can go with either of them considering what u really want in ur phone.
Great comparison- thanks! One other point to add- both phones are very tall and narrow, but I think that the S21 is preferable because of the slightly better aspect ratio (slightly wider than the S20 combined with a flat screen which accentuates this factor a bit).
It's worth noting that the adaptive refresh rate on the S21 and S21+ is between 48-120 Hz ... so it would slow down to 48 at the lowest. The S21 Ultra can fluctuate between 10-120 Hz.
*Which makes it a beast in terms of battery life right?.. yeah I noticed*
Quick note: the only S21 that can go to 10 Hz is the Ultra, regular and Plus have a minimum of 48 Hz
Actually, a 1080p display on a 1080p screen looks better than a 1440p screen set to 1080, since 1440 and 1080 don't match up. So if you use 120 Hz on your S20 it would look worse than on your S21. But yeah, in 60 Hz, the S20 looks better, just like you said.
you got a point, its true the 1080p pixels dont align properly on 1440p panel and it might look more blurry than native 1080p thats very true but for lcd panels of computer monitors, for amoled panel of smartphone i dont think its that much difference and if you use 1080p on 1440p panel you will still get those advantages of 2k(3200*1440) oled panel because even if you use 1080p on 1440p panel the screen is showing all those higher pixels of 2k native oled panel. so i think even if you use 1080p on 1440p panel your display will still look bit superior than native 1080p.
@@tycoon7885 Hmm... Yeah, the same amount of pixels are shown, but they just have to render some pixels together, so that the "pixel areas" in 1080p are not the same size. More physical pixels also require slightly more energy to light up.
So yeah, idk. I'd rather have normal 1080p than 1440p set to 1080p.
I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that it's LCD or AMOLED, but just because that on 6-7 inch screens, 1080p or 1440p almost look the same, so it's hard to tell.
@@tycoon7885 that is some straight up copium right there
Yeah and what he doesn't realise is that the whole "displays that are not at native resolution look worse" only really applies to screens with rectangular pixels, not the pentile system on the phone. It's the same reason why old pc crt monitors looked sharp at any resolution: they don't have "pixels", only rgb color dots.
The microphone on the back of the s20 only works when you use the zoom on the telephoto lens.
In saying that you can adjust the sensitivity between the three microphone's in pro mode with any lens.
Thanks for this video dude. I subbed. Been debating for forever whether or not to upgrade to a Galaxy S21. .. You've reassured me to stick with my original decision & keep my Galaxy S20. It's definitely the resolution, PPI, expandable storage & glass (I hate plastic phones) back panel for me. I don't necessarily need the latest Snapdragon, considering the improvements in the newer chip don't outweigh what this newer model (S21) is LACKING- in terms of capabilities.
I traded in my s20 for the s21. I think Samsung made the right choices in what they dropped. To me the improved functions outweigh the downgrades. I even prefer the plastic back over glass.
SD card matters to some, but probably not to most. 128 gigs is way more than I need. Then there's the cloud. If the SD card was that important, samsung would have taken a large number of iphone users.
I'll agree that the SD card is important to a certain group of users that samsung could lose.
As far as the cameras in the s20 and s21, the hardware is the same, but with the newer processor and software improvements, photos are better on the s21. I'm not big into photography, but I believe the video stabilization and night mode have been upgraded. The display is a downgrade, but it's the same resolution you got on the s20 of you used the 12o hz anyway. Honestly, you have to look close to notice the difference.
Personall, I'd rather have the improved fingerprint reader, enhanced photography, the adaptive 120 hz, and all three levels of 5g. The s20 didn't receive mm wave 5g.
By the way, don't make your decision based only on what I say. Watch and read a variety of reviews by the experts.
Face ID functions great, but from what they say, it isn't as secure. Fingerprint reader covers 70 percent more area than s20.
SD card slot is a waste unless you are a photographer....
If the s21 had expandable storage it’d be my choice but its such an important thing to me. The 888 SoC helps me get over the ram difference and the display didnt matter to me. But for now I’m gonna keep my plans to upgrade to an S20 going. Also I guess I’d rather have a locked screen refresh rate as crazy as that may sound.
I’m doing the same no external storage, that’s the problem
Your review was spot on. I have the s21 & love it. It also does a really good job with night photography & video. As far as the video mic goes I actually prefer the s21 from your recording. It might sound different from more of a distance but close up I think the s21 sounded a little sharper & the s20 had a little bit of a hollow sound
Definitely one of the most informative channels . Liking the comparison videos !
The fact that the "premium stamp" on glass backed phones still holds weight, even against all the cons that come with it, is so bothersome at this point. I really don't care what everyone thinks is premium, because regardless (even though with a glass back ITS A MUST), a case will be getting put on my phone.
But S20 is 8g lighter than S21, and thinner, shorter, better battery performance
@@dwzhang2390 Sure, but I'm talking about glass back phones USUALLY being heavier, there being a greater chance of the phone cracking somewhere as a result of glass being fragile, and thus, the durability being less than. Again though, regardless of a phone being made of glass, plastic, or any other material known to man, I'm putting a case on it.
@@anthonybrazzle that's true. If S21 is lighter than S20, maybe I will switch to it instead of S20 since it need a case anyway

How can it be better. The s20 was not even a year old when samsung announced the s21

In January I knew s21 was coming but I still bought an s20. I would like a curved screen and compatibility for an sd card and I like the s20 blue
Finally, there is youtuber mention about rear microphone
They both have it
The s21 is definitely a better deal, 8gb ram is more than enough, and the flat display combined with the plastic back makes it a much more durable phone.
Can you do a presentation on the galaxy S21 ultra?
Firstly I didn't think I'll find a guy with kappel and payes on a comment section today but here I am. The thing for the s21 for me is the changed to a 120hz display at the expense of the high resolution so now its just full HD instead of quad HD and for me that's just stupid since I dont really care that much about fps and would rather have better quality so overall they removed alot of good features but mostly the small things like they made it non expandable storage, removed the charging brick, the ram decrease and the plastic back vs last years aluminum. but it is a nicer phone in general than the s20 its rockin the new snapdragon 888 and it does have way better cameras and prices so I'm not gonna complain but here's to hoping that for the s22 samsung is gonna bring back some very missed features
@@mordyspira3015 well the charging brick is most likely never coming back as well as bringing back expandable memory, the public perception of the plastic back was pretty good so very likely they will continue this trend, Maybe they will eventually add QHD with 120 FPS but I highly doubt it because the battery just ain't large enough on the smaller S phones to support both.
@@charleschaimkohl the thing is the samsung m51 has a 7000 mah battery which is almost double the capacity of the s21 so battery isn't really the issue here but they're just trying to get price cuts so for them to get 120hz with qhd and a bigger battery is gonna be just to expensive
They lowered the ram because the phones are more than capable to preform at their best with out 12gb or 16 gb of ram. And one ui 3 optimizes and smoothes everything for 8 gb and lower 8 gb is more than enough.
The S21 looks better imo, but the S20 is just a better phone overall. And carrier sales are putting the price of the S20 much lower than the S21 right now!
Thank you! This comparison helped me alot! I had already ordered the S21 and was worried that I made a mistake. I now know that I made the right decision, :)
Nope s21 lost too much
How's the phone? I'm not sure to wait for the S21 FE and the S22 being released
You are wrong. And you will get only usb in the box,no charger,no earphones...I made same mistake. 200 usd throwed in the wind. I should go with s20 plus 5g 12 gb,4500 mah
Not.
I have the S20 Ultra with 512gb. It was EXPENSIVE. I will be holding onto it as I do not see enough of an improvement worthy of trading in.
Probably the least incremental upgrade vs previous gen since then S8 to S9. I won't be updating my S20+ to the newer S21 line up. Maybe the S21 Ultra has tangible differences like better screens and cameras (SoC difference is something that you probably can't tell without running benchmarks), but not worth it to me, even though I consider myself I tech enthusiast. Will be waiting for the next Note line up if those still happen or the inevitable S22 line.
You mean most incremental.
The edge screen is way more beautiful. It makes it more premium and unique!
I agree idk why everyone hates it so much. When I had my s8 I loved the curved screen and accidentally touching the sides was never really a issue for me. I have a iPhone 12 now and I’m actually switching back to Samsung for an s20. I prefer it over the flat screen. Plus the galaxy phones are just better then iPhone all around.
I upgrade every year and this year is no different. I am excited to get my hands on the s21 from the s20. I dont really see it as a downgrade.
No £100 AKG headphones, no charger brick. Less resolution. No Micro SD for added storage. Plastic. Less ram. Does have a better processor, yes but the average user would never know. Camera's are not too different. I'd say it's definitely a down grade for the reasons stated. Both nice phones though.
@@colfor6167 I guess some persons don't just care and that is why samsung or any other phone company can do as they please. After all, majority of people don't care!!! That's bad though
dont upgrade this year becuase it might be actually a downgrade lol.
if you already have s20 its stupid to buy the s21, its more or less the same and it has little less premium build quality, how can that be upgrade when you're getting less than what you got on your phone that you are already using.
Better to go s21 ultra thats a real upgrade not S21/21+ from S20/20+
@@colfor6167 I don't usually use the headphones. I already have multiple bricks, I was already using the 120 refresh rate and I use the dual sim options so no SD card for me. I prefer the glastic back this year specifically because I will be using a skin. The design is too beautiful to cover it up with a case. I feel a bit more secure using a skin with this material as opposed to a glass back.

The camera module on s20 looks like an afterthought to me. I got this phone and it doesn't necessarily look bad but could be designed better
Great comparison! On my DT 770 headphones the S21 video sound has more clarity and is slightly panned to the left, while the S20 sound is slightly worse but exactly in the middle. I assume they use a lower quality mic on the back. In Germany now, i only see S20s without this extra microphone.
I like my S21, but there are some nitpicks though that are making me switch: I'm way to used to using an Alert Slider, it's just extremely convenient for me. Also battery life has not been good. I only average about 5 hours SOT....
S20 for me, I can't live without expandable storage . The camera/mic isnt a deal breaker for me I mean I mostly take pics of my dogs lol. The plastic back of the S21 and less RAM along with Lower screen res was what sealed the deal for me though.
S20 FE has a plastic back too, but the additional features make up for it imo

In my opinion just from watching this video. The S21s pictures and videos look better, and the S21s video audio sounds better too
S20 w/12g Ram and micro SD expandable memory makes the S21 a non option, as I won't even consider the S21. Samsung is keeping me as a customer with these features, AND with Samsung Dex. Without those 3, I'd go buy an IPhone 12 Pro Max as Apple is leading with Video Camera quality. I may buy one anyway to test. As far as Samsung, I actually liked my previous S9+ better than the S20, so as Samsung loses features, they'll be losing customers.
Hey mate good review but, why did u hold up the so20 when u were talking about the s21 and vice versa....?
I'm pretty sure the whit phone was the s20 yeah?
S20 looks so much better IMHO. I'm just not a huge fan of the curved screen
I love my s21 but dang I wish it had a better screen like the s20 or even s10 :(
It's not worth the upgrade.. Not worth the money that upgrade
Left out they removed MST, the most signature feature by Samsung
Lol true. Might as well just use gpay without MST.
@@LearnWithEase87 not all places have gpay, but most do finally
None of the points made matter, I "downgraded" from a Note 20 ultra to a Galaxy S21, and noticed nothing different. Everything runs smoothly. Case on , 120 hz, 1080 p is good enough, physical storage expansion not even missed due to google pictures, google one backup, samsung back up, etc. Buy it you'll like it.
Will you compare plus versions (exynoses)?
The s21 display is of a higher quality than the one in the s20 since its using adaptive display technology which is much more battery efficient.
Yes and in 1080p a 1080p display looks better than a downscale 1440p display. And higher pixel density also needs more energy to give the same amount of brightness
@@hoppebold02 you are just saying absolute nonsense but I will let you act as if you know what you are saying lol 😂
@@Hornetclaw No it doesn't. If you view a 1920 x 1080 pixel video on a 2560 x 1440 pixel screen, it has to put the rendered pixels from the video together in an odd fashion. You can use basic math to explain this.
Let's say you view a 720p video on a 1440p display:
(2560 x 1440) / (1280 x 720) = 4
So each renedered pixel from the video is shown as 4 physical pixels on the screen, which means watching a 720p video on a 1440p screen is optimal 720p video performance.
But let's try the problematic 1080p on a 1440p display (it would of course look better than the previous example, but just to prove a point):
(2560 x 1440) / (1920 x 1080) = 1,78
So basically what this means is, that when you have to fit 1,8 pixels into an area of pixels, it won't fit eaqually among all pixels. In order to do this, it has to be a square number. Therefore, some video rendered pixels have to fit into multiple psysical pixels, while other rendered pixels are shown on individual physical pixels.
Of course, this is not very noticable on such a small screen, but the reality is, that a 1440p screen cannot play 1080p content optimally.
An UHD (4k) display can though:
(3840 x 2160) / (1920 x 1080) = 4.
If you know simple math, this is surely not nonsense.
And I really have too much time to spend, you probably won't even read all this lol.
is it me or is the s21 panel also a bit more lively in colors? the s20 seems a bit dull/washed out.
Grab an S20 and don't look back. It's a dying breed. Removable storage was brilliant. I don't like my photos in the cloud. When I die hopefully my family will have my Google password 🤦🏾♂️. S20 was so good they had to make a downgrade 😳. These phone companies need to stop making 1080p displays. Jeez at least give me 1180 😆. I purchased an s20 for 500 bucks and I feel like a king about it. Your vids are very detailed. Thanks.
Don't forget Exynoss please. You've got some Europe subscribers :)
We have no 5G or 12GB ram 🙄
Exynos 990 sucks!
@@AtentoCC agree I'm gonna sell my damn s21 ultra bcos of this damn chip not gonna buy a Samsung anytime soon
actually the s21 series has crackling sound issues that comes from the hardware. no update can fix this. samsung trying to burry this common problem
Could you compare the galaxy S20/S21 ect... to the galaxy S20 FE?
Thanks, does S21 has flat screen? I think S20 is curved
How long is the battery life? How many hours can DOT be done in the s20 and s21?
Would you do 1 hour more with 60 hearts than with 120 hearts?
Thank-you!
I think the s21 looks like a better deal. though if i were to get it i would miss my waterfall display.
Water fall display ?
@@youngrios How the screen curves around the side.
Curved screens tend to scratch more easily than a flat one.
I'm upgrading from an S10 Plus to an S20 Plus.
Hey Mike, very good review. These trade-in deals are pretty great. I got the S21+ at a very reasonable 384.00 buck-a-roos. Not too shabby. But I asked myself, self would you purchased at full retail? Absolutely 💯%, probably not? And yes, compromises were made. No charger or micro s/d, 1080p display. Actually, with the 1080p 🔋power is much more desired. My eyeballs can't really tell. But it is an excellent phone!
Note 20 vs the galaxy 20 plus which ones a better phone in terms of battery life and better camera ??
S20+ WQHD + SCREEN RESOLUTION DISPLAY SD Card Tray
Bro which is better for Gaming among Oneplus 8 (8/128) vs Galaxy S20 SD865 (12/128)???
# I need a stable android device for overall UI and gaming..
Amazing video/comparison i haven't even watched the video i just always know u drop really amazing and innovative content on todays technology keep up the good work I've been a long time subscriber to your channel the future is EXTREMELY BRIGHT for you keep up the good work you're doing absolutely fantastic🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice. Thanks for watching! I appreciate your kind words
For us Verizon customers the S21 is almost a no brainer! It's only $500-600 compared to $1K even with a 256GB storage model and the S20 for us had no expandable storage and only 8GB of RAM. Only thing the S21 is missing is 1440p but it's barely noticeable with only a 6.2" screen.
how long will both phones be supported for ? As in S21 is at least supported till 2024 with Android O/S - How about the S20 ?
Great 👍🏿
Been waiting for this one
Having used both, I miss my s20 more. 21 felt off coming from the 20
I have read review after review. The most important question I still have yet to find is zoom on the cameras. I am big into videos and would like to make great steady high resolution videos on my phone. I am leaning toward the S20 with the expandable SD card. I am not a gamer, just into photos and making videos. Also does the S20 have low lighting video capture? Thanks
It's much more accurate to compare the S21 to the S20 SE and the S21+ to the S20. The S21 kinda fills that S20 FE role.
