@@JohnJohnson-hn9fx both use sony sensors. What makes the difference is the ISP. Both Exynos and Snapdragon have different ISP, hence why both produce quite different pictures
My S8+ just recently started slowing down. The battery wouldn't last half the day. After tons of research, I decided to purchase the S20 FE and I do not regret it. I thought I would really miss the curved screen, which I loved, but there is so much more to love with this phone. You will not be disappointed. This phone also takes much better astrophotography photos than the S8+. What can I say - I'm an astro-nerd.
Nice video but some mistakes about the specs found in your video, just a small reminder. 1. S20 is equipped with Dynamic AMOLED and the screen on S20 FE is SuperAMOLED. 2. The Ultrawide cameras of S20 and S20FE are DIFFERENT. S20's = 12MP 120° 1.4um, S20FE's = 12MP 123° 1.12um. The pixel size of UW camera in S20 is bigger but the viewing angle is a bit wider for S20FE. 3. The telephoto camera of S20FE is a real 3x optical zoom camera, but the one in S20 is a '1.1x optical camer' but it can achieve 3x lossless hybrid zoom by cropping the 64MP 1.1x camera. S20FE is expected to get a better result for high rate zoom i.e higher than 10x. But the advantage for S20 is that the 64MP telephoto camera actually kicks in when zooming more than 2x. So the 2x-3x zooming range and the 2x portrait shot would be better in S20. 4. The S20FE 32MP front facing camera is by no means better than the 10MP front camera in S20 in specs perspective. The 32MP camera is for mid-range phone so you can find it in M51, A51, A71 etc because this camera does not have the auto focus capability. Other than that, the optical quality, built generation etc... are better for the 10MP one. 5. You did turn on the filter (beauty mode) for your front facing camera as the magic wand icon at upper right corner turned yellow when you took your selfie. You could click the magic wand icon, then click 'face' and click the smile emoji at lower right corner to turn it from 'auto' to 'on' and, finally, to 'off'.
hey, could you please elaberate on your 4. bulletpoint about the front camera? I dont quite get why an 10 MP front cam can be better than a 32 MP one. It would rlly help me out deciding to buy a new phone (still struggling between Apple or android)
@@alexxxran the 10mp on the s20 has auto focus while the 32mp is just a regular 32 mp and also low light shots are better on the 10mp camera of the s20
Also point 6 - The cooling systems on both phone are different.... S20 has a graphite pad and a copper vapour chamber system while the s20 fe has only the graphite pad as its cooling system Point 7 - Finger print tech is different, s20 has a ultrasonic scanner while the s20fe has a optical scanner
I can buy this phone for $369 ($300 for s9 trade in and $30 education discount). This ultimately makes this phone cheaper than what I paid for the S9 a year and a half ago )$400), which is insane to me!
Incredible video, I haven't said this but I should have. It looks like you put so much effort into it and I believe you do. Love the shots, camera angles, and just the over commentary and everything about it!
@Techdaily i agree! I would only add up some numbers above the image when you say those comments. Love the reviews, but that would make them even better (e.g. some numbers on top in the camera showing them while talking about them) ;)
I have a Galaxy S8 and have been reluctant to upgrade due to the prices of newer flagships rising. I was going to consider A71 model but there were so many drawbacks compared to the flagship. The Galaxy S20FE is definitely the phone for me. I'm going to wait for a price drop likely around the Holidays.
@@stephenj1118 I know that this is an older comment, but I think that Samsung makes pretty good phones. I'm currently using a S8. Still works great and I haven't noticed any lag. Going to upgrade to the FE tomorrow, but would still be happy with this phone for a long time if I had to keep it.
Just wanted to let you know I really value these reviews. I watch a TON of videos before making a big purchase, but I always end up liking these the most. You get to the point, are unbiased, and your voice is good for long reviews! Keep up the good work 🙂
Yea I am looking into upgrading from my s7 to 'A' s20 but idk which one. I dont even know why I am wavering because the s20 fe is the only one offered free to me from verizon.... oh well, shopping is more fun that actually buying!
Why does that bother you? I've had this phone since launch. I never notice it. And its really only there on the lock screen. Probably helps in facial recognition.
I think Samsung intentionally did that to distinguish from their S20 Flagship. I don't like it (from watching reviews on it) but I'm sure in use your eyes won't even see it.
Thank you for the comparison. I've been a Samsung Note fan for years, but I'm about to replace my Note 8 with an S20 FE specifically to avoid the curved glass. I see no gain from the curve, especially when I put a case on it, and mine is the first phone I've broken glass on in decades.
I've had so many phones break on my kitchen floor and recently I've gone through my old phones and realized that only the curved phones have a broken screen while the other old ones just have some other getting old problems.
@@BelieveVs does 5 g really make tht much of a difference? Im definitely getting the s20 but not sure if i ahould get the s20 or s20fe. Im leaning toward the reg s20. @@vperkv6554 Coming from me, its up to your personal preference. Basically the same phone but display and design are different. The s20's display is more cinematic and bezeless while the fe has as much bezel as mid ranges like the note 10 lite and a71. Also has a more "note series" shape to it which im not a big fan of. The s20 is smaller as mentioned unless you go for the s20+ which is the same size and more screen to body ratio compared to the fe. I'm actually having the same issue as you with the 2 phones. My current choice is the s20 but the price is way more then the fe for me. Im only 14 and not working so my father is buying it for me. Its going to be hard convincing him but ill try. Also if you think about the future ill say the s20 as a less of embarrassment for the display. But since itll be hard to find someone to fix it the s20 fe would win. If you dont know why, it is because the s20 is discontinued. This means you have to make your decision fast as they are running out. If you have the money s20. Final answer. Side note: i dont know where you are from but seeing from the money conversation, its not the usa probably. (Please do not bash me for this as im a more mathematical illustrated person, im not so geologically talented). If your getting the exynos version its an automatic pass to the s20 fe. The s20 exynos variant is harsh if you plan to have it long term. The battery will go bad as fast as a lit birthday candle (fast).

@@JohnJohnson-hn9fx ultrasonic in s20 is better, cause it works even if there is moisture, oil, etc on your finger, also does not require light to scan and is more secure as it takes in a 3d mesh of your fingerprint....
The FE is a no-brainer, especially with trade in deals Samsung has now. Traded almost 2 year old 10e and got an unlocked FE for $285. Pretty hard to beat that anywhere, considering the FE is pretty much state of the art everywhere it counts.
I know im like almost 4 years later but that S20 FE was secretly a mini s20 Ultra. Not even joking. The zoom was insane for the price and specs of that phone. I feel they purposely made it sound weaker on paper so they can bring price down and get money and compete against other phones. Quite good thinking from Samsung. The s20 fe was a mini Ultra with just a lower res screen
Nice. I'm still using my S8 haha. I'm waiting until next year when I'll be working more to get either the FE or the S20. Do you have the FE? Wonder if it's worth it to get the S20 over the FE.
I've decided on the s20 as I could afford that! And it is just as good as the others seem to be I watched a UA-cam clip with all 3 n the difference n the same and then the conclusion that helped me!
According to me i think so Samsung is better for the innovation in the devices I just love the new hardware that they make every year and apple even with good hardware has outdated design
In Norway, right now both phones costs the same, around 825 USD. FE version seems better and there is a definitely huge difference in the front camera, but the size is a problem for me since I have small hands. I still have a hard time choosing between one of them.
Snapdragon is the way to go if ya'll game a lot. But if u use a phone in the day to day life then I think Exynos won't matter that much. But I don't have any idea coz that's what I hear from some reviewers and some of my friends tell that too. We always get Snapdragon in our region!
Great video. Here in the UK the S20 line-up has the Exynos chipset whereas the FE is the only one with the Snap-dragon 865, which makes it a clear winner.
the base ram should just be at least 8gb. having it at 6gb only gives you 2gb free to use due to all the background apps that stack up to 1.1gb immediately after clean up in memory.
I own both. and i prefer the S20FE. The most annoying feature difference for me was the fingerprint sensor. I had to try 4 or 5 times to unlock the phone on the S20 but the FE opens every time on the first try with 3 fingers flawlessly. . A second feature i prefer is a better stand by battery life with a 4500mah instead of 4000. Larger phone feels good in hand with case. Screen is good and i can still swipe the screen and text with my gloves on at work...very few phones will do this. I prefer plastic back over glass as it only takes one drop to crack the glass on the s20. For those who work in manufacturing or outside, glass back is a hard no. FE is very snappy at 120 herts. Even though this review is 4 years old if you can find a new one or refurbished in excellent condition you should grab it. It works for me enough to leave a positive review.
@@ziadal6998 Thanks man, I think it's time, with the amazing new things the Fe has compared to the S9+. Now would be a great time to upgrade, that's why I did it. Just go for it man, don't think you will be disappointed!
Just got two s20 FEs for 6$ a month each and with the family plan we each get 8$ off our bill. I Haven't had a Samsung in years just Google and iPhone. They have came a long way I'm actually really impressed.
I’m on an s20+ and considering switching solely because of the lack of curved screen. The S20 made the curve less obnoxious but I still can’t get a decent screen protector for it. I like the matte look a lot.
You dont need or even use 120hz refresh while watching videos in qHD therefore it is still a relevant feature. If you're not watching videos and just web browsing you can switch back to 120hz. Depends on what you're doing on your phone.
I have the S20 5G and I absolutely love it! Especially now that I have OneUI 3.0! Everything is so smooth and animations look so good! My favorite thing is how compact the phone is with a 6.2" panel! I won't buy anything less than a full flagship!
Just got the S20 Fe few days ago. So far it's awesome phone I love it. I got a good deal with it too. The regular s20 was $999 and FE was $699 so it was a easy choice for me
Just upgraded to the FE from a S8+ and the first thing I noticed was the display. Ima be honest here, the S8+ display (1440p vs 1080p on the FE) looks better. Like noticeably better. Colors are more vibrant and clear. UA-cam videos are more enjoyable and you don't really notice the pixels on the S8+ but you do on the FE (because the screen is so big). The only thing is, the FE has the 120hz display and it makes the phone extremely smooth but it isn't life changing. However, you really are getting your moneys worth with the FE but if you're a display guy like me, I would go for something with a 1440p screen and sacrifice the 120hz. I really was, originally, just going to settle (if you want to call it that) for the S10+ from last year but the infinity display was something I disliked about my s8+ and the s10+ has the exact samething. This is why I chose the FE (for its flat screen). I Was also thinking about the s20 and s20+ but the price they're going at just wasnt worth it to me. You really have to sacrifice something in the cell phone world we live in now. Unless of course you have to cash to really go for the high-end flagships and in that case you won't have to sacrifice anything.
been watching your channel since the Google Pixel 4A as I needed to replaced my original Pixel XL. Then decided to wait for the 4A 5G because of 6.2" screen (5G wasn't my main concern) but Google is taking too long to release that so now I'm definitely considering the S20 FE, especially for its price range. Would have been a dilemma if Regular iPhone 12 was starting $699 but that's not the case.
Thank you very much for your review. I am looking to upgrade from my S9 and was looking for comparisons between the A71 and S20 options. I was not very familiar with the FE so finding your review was actually EXTREMELY helpful especially considering that camera operations are not my priority as I seldom use them. This was a great review and very helpful. Thank you.
After one month: S20 FE: Battery - all day, great. Size- not an issue, got used to it right away. Only downside, maybe the fingerprint sensor, gets finicky. I use a dongle for the wired earbuds I still have, easy.
Upgrading from Motorola G7 power to Samsung S20FE. I'm going to miss the long battery life but the G7 power is slow. My previous phone before the G7 was a Samsung Galaxy S6, had that for almost 3 years. Hopefully I have the S20FE for around 2 years.
How did you like the switch? I've actually bought 2 G7 Powers because of the battery life, but it's getting slow.. thinking about buying the S20 FE in 2022
I paid for $500 for my S20 FE.. that's Australian dollars mind you. It's as good as I expected the S20 to be. Best value for money I ever spent on a phone.
I am looking at upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy s20 fe. I currently have the Galaxy s8 and is still running fantastically after between 2.5-3 years of use. The reason for the descrepency of time of use is that i had a different phone for a short time after switching service providers. I very much prefer Samsung phones.
Your same as me. I've had the s8 for almost 4 years now, and it's still working fine. Other than the charging port which has a bit of issues and I need a rubber band to keep the headphones locked inside lol. You commented a year ago, let me how the phone is if your bothered to reply
S20FE peaks at ~680 nits of brightness and the S20 peaks at ~850 nits of brightness, that's a 25% difference and based on user reviews so far is pretty noticeable in every day usage especially in sunlight. Keep that in mind.
I got a S20 for $400 brand new. Originally, the plan was to just sell it and make a few bucks off of it, but I may keep it. I still have a OnePlus 6 that's running strong.
I have a note 9 too but i ll go for the fe as for the headphone jack u can always use a dongle. I guess wat me and u will be missing is the spen. I really love s pen. But the note series are becoming insanely expensive i cant afford it anymore. And the note 9 design is getting outdated with the placement of the camera.
Excellent video. Thank you! I'm going to get the fe tomorrow. The only downside I seen was I have small hands but speech to text has came so far that I don't have to type as much anymore
I still have my S9+ and I truly love it, but the battery is almost down to 55% so in a few more months I will need to replace the battery for around $100. At the ridiculously low price for a Certified Renewed S20 FE direct from Samsung with a brand new 100% battery for $225, I decided to try the FE. I know it's a little larger than my S9+, but it doesn't really look too large. And with 5g, I should be well prepared for the future. If I really don't like the size of the FE, I can always return it and put a new battery in my otherwise perfect S9+. Oh well, we'll see...
You've sold me on the FE I think. Camera quality and load speed are my hot buttons so since the two compare almost equally, the deciding factor is cost; in this, the FE wins out. Thanks for the great comparison review. Beautiful hands BTW :).
@P.S. Rouz wtf? Samsung makes the best displays out there even apple oneplus and a majority of companies buy displays from Samsung so do you research then come and say shit
The irony is, that here in Europe the S20 FE 5G is actually the flagship, because it is the only S20 series phone that comes with the Snapdragon chipset which is superior to the Exynos one. I am currently watching second hand listings and already saw people trading in their S20 series phones for the FE 5G, you can get the Ultra for 600€, a few months old, already. I probably wait until next year, prices might drop again.
@@hags5490 thanks.. i'm thinking to go for it but i'm doubtful as i heard it smoothens the faces n brightens a bit too much and not keep it natural..is it so? This is the thing which is stopping me to go for it

Very useful video! I was considering the FE and had no idea it's actually bigger than the flagship. Nope! I prefer my phones on a smaller side. I'll stick with the S20. :)
I dont think so its a deal right now specially the cost of regular S20 has been reduced already, and the price for it less than S20 FE nowadays. For me I will go for regular S20 because of premium body material, amazing dual pixel front camera and for ultra sonic finger reader.
I have the regular s20 and am very impressed by it. I think that if someone buys the regular version he won't be wrong and will still get one of the best phones, even though the s20 fe is cheaper.

Good deal
Not even mad about the price, s20 is an incredible phone. I would hate to have it bigger anyway
I like the smaller one as well s20 regular
S20 is smaller yet it has better resolution 1440p. Vs fe 1080. Its a win win
Me neither I just do small payments
Just a quick tip for photographers here: Exynos variants of all S20 series (S20, plus, ultra, fe) actually take better pictures with higher detail and better colour reproduction.
Is that true so the s20+ exyenos has better photos then a s20 fe 5g snapdragon. I heard that snapdragon uses a sony sensor.
Also point 6 -
The cooling systems on both phone are different....
S20 has a graphite pad and a copper vapour chamber system while the s20 fe has only the graphite pad as its cooling system
Point 7 -
Finger print tech is different, s20 has a ultrasonic scanner while the s20fe has a optical scanner

S20FE should be the king but unfortunately the designers are getting too stoned to add a silver ring for the front camera.
Unfortunately I have small hands and even smaller pockets so the size is a deal breaker for me 😞
You get the better edge screen tho and a qhd option..
Software wise I see no difference Sometimes I don't even know what Samsung phone even comes out
I almost bought the s20 in April 2020. I'm glad I waited. Thanks for sharing this comparison. Well done!
Personally, I prefer the smaller size of the S20!

@@BelieveVs does 5 g really make tht much of a difference? Im definitely getting the s20 but not sure if i ahould get the s20 or s20fe.

Plus its only 50.00 more than the s20fe.
What would u recommend?

4g??
05:49 why is the fe background is gray while there's 20 is clean pure white??!
been watching your channel since the Google Pixel 4A as I needed to replaced my original Pixel XL.

S20FE peaks at ~680 nits of brightness and the S20 peaks at ~850 nits of brightness, that's a 25% difference and based on user reviews so far is pretty noticeable in every day usage especially in sunlight. Keep that in mind.

Is the picture quality front/rear camera the same in both phones or which one has better camera quality?
Honestly so mad about the S20 FE, much better deal than the S20 I got on launch
Got this as a xmas present upgrade from my old S7... feels like 10+ years of a difference.
I have still the S7 have you get the s20 or the 20fe ?
Thanx for good advice , I will go for the Samsung S20 FE after this review :-)
@P.S. Rouz wtf? Samsung makes the best displays out there even apple oneplus and a majority of companies buy displays from Samsung so do you research then come and say shit
@@terminator5084 he dumb lol
@@FatboiReborn yeah bro ofc
The irony is, that here in Europe the S20 FE 5G is actually the flagship, because it is the only S20 series phone that comes with the Snapdragon chipset which is superior to the Exynos one. I am currently watching second hand listings and already saw people trading in their S20 series phones for the FE 5G, you can get the Ultra for 600€, a few months old, already. I probably wait until next year, prices might drop again.
After owning the s20Fe for 3 days I can proudly say that it is wonderful and I'd highly recommend it to anyone! Samsung is just simply amazing!!
How is the front camera?
@@fatimahussain669 its amazing. The 32 megapixel camera is just so great. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
@@hags5490 thanks.. i'm thinking to go for it but i'm doubtful as i heard it smoothens the faces n brightens a bit too much and not keep it natural..is it so? This is the thing which is stopping me to go for it
Right now on samsung.com Black Friday deals the s20 is only $50 more than the FE and it comes with an extra $50 credit on the Samsung store so essentially the same price. This deal does require a trade-in
Very useful video!
Lmao my poor ass still stuck on a 3-4 year old Galaxy S8.
I have an S8 as well. Still a really great phone
im stuck with a5 2017
Do you have the S20 with Snapdragon or Exynos?
I love the the FE back its just nice and the camera design is also beautiful!!
How did you display youtube when you went back to the homescreen? My Note8 used to do that but suddenly I dont know how?
I have the regular s20 and am very impressed by it. I think that if someone buys the regular version he won't be wrong and will still get one of the best phones, even though the s20 fe is cheaper.
I dunno which to buy
Because the fe seems like a better deal
But it's big and bulky
I like compact phones
I'm watching this 2 years later. Turned out the S20 FE sold like hot cakes. Good value for the money but the screen is so fragile. I'm working in a repair shop and this is the phone I've repaired the most these last years.
