I wonder if you still would've got stuck even if you had not just your front locked up but also having rear lockers? I know the front is locked but having front & back locked I'm not sure cause I think when your in some good mud either way its gonna be slippery. Having both front & rear lockers are best on dry surfaces like dirt or rocks from what I've learned on UA-cam aha. I've done a tad bit of 4 wheel driving but not as much as I wish. I once had an 04 GMC canyon, it was 4x4 with the 5 cylinder. But just the front got locked & the rear didn't have lockers but I didn't know as much about how lockers worked.
I to have a Colly, what did you use for the reciever up front? id been thinking about getting a trailer hitch and flipping it, to mount to the rails, cant find a single bar or mount already made.
look at dodge dakotas,chevy colarados, gmc canyons, toyota tacomas, and ford rangers. or just go on google and look up midsize trucks. most midsize trucks are gonna get good mpg! depending on what model or size engine they have.
noah that will depend on the model year as well. my frontier is a 2000 crew cab v6 4x4 and I get absolutely AWFUL gas mileage. haha 12.4 mpg and it has like a 17 gallon tank or so. all together I get like 220 miles per tank of gas. it sucks lol. then again, I did lift it 2" and put 31" mud tires on it, so that didn't help any.
the Colo has an auto-locking rear diff that engages when one of the wheels is spinning significantly faster than the other, hence spinning the wheels when stuck to engage it

I got an 05 2wd 5 speed z71 with the 4 cylinder and it does well off road if you use 2nd gear and momentum. I jumped a creek one time it was awesome

Will say that I have a 2006 Colorado with the 3.5 Z71 and it goes through almost anything and I take that through mud holes with highway tires on 😂

My 4x4 05 Colorado is amazing and have taken it on those kinds of trails and it is awesome never had problems with it though

a Colorado with a 5.3 would be raw, but if ur talking bout a silverado I went from a 1500 to a canyon 5cyl and the canyon is way better
