    Hey Freezai, love this kind of content, esp. commentary in tournament games, hope we can see more. It's unfort you didn't get the win, but could I suggest maybe slow down a touch and putting less emphasis on predictions? Between this and your randbats (esp the most recent video), I feel like you tend to overpredict the opponent, play fast and perhaps lose track of what both players actually need to win the game. You're a very smart, high-level player so I'm sure you'll be right back in the mix in the next tour!

    The sad part is that using Knock Off against Fini might've won the game, since the follow up knock off would've brought Nidoking into low hp range and then Kartana would pretty much have a free game. Knock Off would've killed Nidoking and also would've given Kartana the +1 boost neccessary to 1v1 the weakened Ferrothorn since that one can't actually heal back up against a Kartana spamming Knock Off.

      Thats a lot of knock off.

    • @aceguy1234

      Knockoff was the winning play for sure, he was worried Fini had def investment but knew Zera lived, Zera would knock off the scarf and definitely it 2hkos.

      If I know someone might switch for type immunity/advantage then knockoff is always the best decision.

    • @Amariuo

      Gonna dispel this idea. Freezai lost the game period. Knock Off would've done 64% max to Nidoking (not standard 252/252+, it's x/252+/256-x as you can see from Lele Damage), which OHKOs it with Earth Power (Flamethrower was only used in the game because he was locked onto Plasma Fists). Knock Off then gets the revenge kill and gains a +1. Ferrothorn was 252/252+, so it lives a Knock Off even at +1 and a crit. This means that Ferro can Knock Kartana off. After SR, 1 layer of Spikes, a Knock Off from Ferro and 2 Barb chips means that Superpower from Torn-T kills after even after a min roll (Note that Kartana is no longer faster than Torn-T 352 vs 348 because Scarf would've been Knocked).
      The best play would be to hope for a Sacred Sword double crit. Even after +1 Knock Off from Zera, Nido still lives a max roll Sacred Sword. If he crit that he'd gain the +1. Ferro comes in and actually lives a +1 Sacred Sword, but if he critted again, he'd knock the Ferro out, and still have scarf intact. His chance of doing so would be extremely low, but that was the only situation he could win from there.

    • @aceguy1234
      @aceguy1234 2 роки тому +2

      @@Amariuo Sacred sword vs Nidoking with 50 hp (just a random guess, don't think it'd be much more) does 24-29%, +1 knockoff from Zera does 56-66. So that is likely a kill, +1 Sacred sword vs 252/252+ def Ferro does 64-75, and ferro would be at 70 due to stealth rocks. So I don't think he needed a crit on anything.

    Cool video! May I suggest you to just play normally and then save the replays to commentate them instead? Maybe that can help you concentrate for the match because I understand playing a serious match while commentating is hard

    I would love a video about why Future Sight is currently used in the metagame. I've only been somewhat passively engaged with competitive Pokemon, but I just looked it up and it seemed like it was buffed to its current form all the way in Gen 6, but I don't recall it ever seeing play before this generation.

    • @lagio3195
      @lagio3195 2 роки тому +13

      it's always had a level of utility but teleport (with its buff this gen) added a safe pivot option for bulky users like slowbro/slowking who also became meta this gen

    • @joeylehman9649
      @joeylehman9649 2 роки тому +12

      So you know how some pokemon can only defensively check offensive pokemon if they’re above a specific % of HP? you can leverage hazards (stealth rock, spikes) to whittle down their check to your offensive pokemon.
      Similarly you can just pivot to a slow pokemon, set up further sight and more importantly teleport after that. You get your frail offensive pokemon like kartana out and if they switch to their check that check gets domed not only by your attack, but also by the strong future sight.
      You are seeing future sight more because of the teleport change than because of the future sight itself. It’s a potent wall breaker combo.

    As someone with a background in competitive TCGs and VGC, but no background in competitive singles tournaments, what are the rules as far as your teams go? Most TCGs have a sideboard to adjust your deck with between games, and VGC has the aspect of only bringing 4 pokemon of your 6 each game, both as ways to adjust to your opponents on the fly, while still restricting you to a specific deck/team. Here I just see you selecting another team between games, seemingly with no restriction. Do you have to submit a specific number of teams that you're locked into using for the tournament, or is it literally freeform as far as what you choose to play in any given round (assuming it's legal within the tier)?
