Holy shit I had no idea these updates even came out. Feels like nobody really talks about Vital as much lately. It’s my most used synth though so I’m hyped.
Likewise, but really there was quite some talk about it in the forum. It's not out for everyone yet though, only pro users and subscribers, Matt Tytel keeps promising to release it for everyone else "soon"
the name "data compress" and what it does to more complex samples reminds me of mp3 compression, that kinda sound you get after exporting at a low quality
Thanks for explaining in detail what the Spectral Filter curve and phase control do. I've seen a couple of videos demoing it, but failing to explain how it works. Using a plain sawtooth wave helps a lot as well.
After some tinkering, it seems basically that the knob will slide the shape you draw up and down the frequency spectrum, and the phase slider will expand and contract the shape. 😃
yep, somebody actually pointed that out already, I kinda had thought of that, but I failed to put it in words making the video, thanks for the comment :)
What would happen if you link an envelope to either morphing effect, and have it kick in after 1/3rd of a second after you press a note on the keyboard? Then add a slight reverb to this. Or a delay even!
I'm not too sure I get your point, I think what would happen is well... kinda the same thing that would happen doing the that with any other parameter, you'd have the modulation happen that 1/3rd of a second later, and then you'd hear all the reflections from the delay.
@@platipo It's the way I do sounddesign to compare how a modulation affects the sound. I like the new features a lot and am sure these in turn will help create even more interesting sounds and evolving melodic and non-melodic sonic textures.
Exciting stuff! I'm considering a paid version of Vital now. I was interested in the resynthesis already, but those spectral processors also look amazing and I feel I want to reward the developer with some income. How much CPU impact do they have?
Apparently like everything or so in vital they're not very computationally cheap. Yes, I myself got the paid version for this, up to this update, from a sound designer standpoint, there was nearly no reason to get a paid version, but in retrospect I have to say the added wavetables are quite nice, and the presets are interesting material to study.
It doesn't on my computer, and neither it does on the computer of many people I know. You might think of going to the Vital forum and reporting the bug
As I mentioned at the end of the video or so, it is for now a sort of open Beta, available to subscribers and pro users, though very stable, it was supposed to be released sometime in june, but that apparently didn't happen yet, as it is often the case with software
For now, the beta is only available to paying users, so yes. But well, the 1.5 should be released for everyone sometime soon, so it'll eventually be available to every user
Well, AFAIK Vital Audio is like a one man company, this has been obviously in the works for quite some time and well... it is imho quite a big update, it adds a bunch of interesting features many people had been asking for... Perfection doesn't exist, I myself had my own desires about Vital's evolution, and guess what, none of those were satisfied, but I'm still happy with what I got, I didn't know I wanted it, but now that I have it, I'm definitely not complaining :)

This synth is really going wild, who knows what'll it become in a couple years from now !
Hopefully, not bought out by NI only to have it wither on the vine like Absynth…
Epic pads! Im gonna check out your gum road
Excellent sounds as always, very interesting as all your tutorials. Cheers
Thank you :)
Just discovered your channel, very cool stuff!
Thank you :) happy you like it
3 to 6 filters always a big win
Also I've been missing your vids
Much respect for giving us the free content
5:41 Data Compress seems to work like a noise gate as I observed. It removes the quietest harmonics of the waveform.
Thanks. I had thought something like that, but forgot to mention it in the video :)
Wow! Interesting.

1.5.x isn't out yet. Pro and sub users can download an early access 1.5.1 variant of vital, including the new CLAP plugin for Windows for now
Yes, I mentioned it later in the video
These are awesome! Excited for that update. Will probably play for hours with those filters!
Definitely one of the reasons I haven't been making videos for a while :D
Thx for this video, I was waiting for someone to show 1.5 new features and I'm glad you did it :)
Thank you :) glad you liked it. I think there were already a few videos on the topic, but well... I thought I had a few missing details to share

My pleasure

Thank you very much. You just got a new sub for this one.
Data compression sounds like it's removing partials in order of magnitude

7 semitones = a fifth.
Sure thing, though I might disagree by 2 cents :D, why are you pointing this out here?
Waw that crazy
Yep!

@@platipo Thanks for the reply!
1.5.x doesn't work. GUI crashes on start so switching to Dune 3.
It doesn't on my computer, and neither it does on the computer of many people I know. You might think of going to the Vital forum and reporting the bug
@@platipo There are a few posts on the forum reporting the same issue but so far no fix. I'll keep checking because this is an amazing synth.
1.5.5 has sorted the issues.
On their page I can only find the 1.0.7 version?
As I mentioned at the end of the video or so, it is for now a sort of open Beta, available to subscribers and pro users, though very stable, it was supposed to be released sometime in june, but that apparently didn't happen yet, as it is often the case with software
@@platipo Thanks a lot for your answer!
Can't find the 1.5.1 beta download link
If you're a subscriber or pro user, you should find it here account.vital.audio/?product=vital
are these features only available for the paid version?
For now, the beta is only available to paying users, so yes. But well, the 1.5 should be released for everyone sometime soon, so it'll eventually be available to every user
1.5 and up doesn't work for LOTS of people..
But it also works beautifully for many others. I personally didn't find but very minor bugs
Not a big update, considering that the last version was 1 year ago.
