So beautiful. Their voices resounding through out the church, presenting a hauntingly angelic sound with the acoustics. A joy to see Mandili again, special for today. Great reaction Harri. Enjoy your family and Happy Easter to all. 🐰🐰🐣🐣 Thanks Harri and Cosmo.👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Harri, thank you for posting this today, on Good Friday. Or, "Red Friday", as it's called in Georgia. This hymn, "The Prayer", was written by a famous Georgian poet a couple hundred years ago, and is somewhat similar to our Western/English hymn, "The Lord's Prayer". The poet was named, Ilia Chavchavadze, and he was canonized by the Georgian Orthodox Christian Church under the name, Ilia The Righteous. I'm glad you found the girls' performance as moving as I do. While the song is not specifically about the crucifixion (Good Friday) or the resurrection (Easter), it is certainly appropriate for either occasion, as you will see after reading the lyrics and my note below. Here is the English translation: *The Prayer*
Our Father, which art in Heaven, I’m on my knees, pitying, before Thee! I ask Thee no wealth, no glory, I don’t want to profane with it the Holy Prayer. I want instead my soul to be enlightened by Heaven, And my heart to be lit with love commanded by Thee! And even for my foes that try to pierce my heart with dart I ask Thee: “Forgive them, oh Lord, for they know not what they do” “Forgive them, oh Lord, for they know not what they do” *Note:* In two of the film clips I edited into the song you can see Jesus saying, *_"Forgive them, for they know not what they do."_* Which is the last two lines of the hymn. And really, the foundational lesson Jesus presented to us. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this video was uploaded on the day the war in Ukraine started - such an adequate response to the conflict that broke out.. Then the charity foundation Mandili Cares was launched. the date is February 24 and unfortunately coincided with Mariam's birthday 😢
