First video I've seen where the LCD panel was removed by gravity. That's a very good idea! I'm going to attempt to repair a 65" TCL and have been very nervous about cracking the LCD. Definitely going to try your method. I just hope the LCD isn't glued to the frame. (I've read that some are)

@@chrisdurant19 65S517. I have since discovered this set is edge lit and even better, the backlight LEDs can be removed via a metal plate on the back. The LCD does not need to come off! I've replaced the TV so at the moment, the old set is sitting in the new set's box awaiting further diagnosis.

What settings did you put the multimeter on to test the backlight strip to make the led light up?

I am repairing edge lit tv. When I probe chip led with diode test it reads 0.7 as normal but when I apply 3v to the same led chip it takes about 1.4 amp and doesn't glow, is there imbedded circuitry inside these strips that make that behaviour happen? I tried testing several of the chips and all the same.

they are all probably defective.

@@tevzTVTevatronics 8 parallel lots of 8 in series. 3 in one of the parallel lots read Bad. I guess led chips can read like a diode but still be faulty and sink more current as heat as the voltage goes up. I'll order new strips and see what happens. Cheers

All LED strips work in my tv, but when I attach power they fail. When only connected with ground, when I touch the + they go on! What is this magic?!

There's one led bulb that may be open. It's not magic your hands are an example of a conductor, so when you touch those terminals it will pass the electricity to your hands and energizes the LEDs.

@@tevzTVTevatronics All the LEDs work both separate and as a group, except when I power the entire strip. I think I have too little voltage for all at once. I knew I was a conductor, I was just wondering where the power comes from when I touch the terminals.
