10:48 Prakash- Why USMLE though tiresome is still better than Indian PG

17:21 4th Reason - Why India is much more happening than US, US gets boring!
23:42 Indian Residents are paid better than US!
25:20 US residents live hand to mouth !
28:20 But Salary of US attending/consultant is much much more than Indian Professor !

You are the comparing the best case scenario in India (AIIMS PGI) with the US. Compare state and private colleges (where you might have to pay for residency) with a mediocre residency program in the US and you will realise how much better it is in the US. Even assuming better finances while in residency in India, the attending salary is so high that you earn 10 years worth of Indian salary in a year in the US.
I always highlighted my reasons to stay in India- and as said towardss the end - the decision is personal. Youre right - avg residency program in US> State Medical college in India. Also salary comparison is unfair even as attending due to higher cost of living. Attending salary should be compared with someone in Private practise as attending in US in private institutes.
@@DrAditya2935 Absolutely. At the end of the day, this is a personal decision and clear cut reasoning cannot be given since people's priorities are different. I disagree regarding the money part because even with high taxes and high cost of living, savings will be much higher in the US allowing you to retire early, if you want to.
You raise valid points, we have only covered our perspectives in the video. But we also highlighted in an earlier video, going to US is a very heavy expense in itself and not everyone is able to afford that, even if they are meritorious. Hence, portraying good salary later on is half of the story. Not counting the emotional and sociocultural toll it brings you on the way. It’s best to consider many other things if finances are not an issue for you.

In US doctors have much more respect than what an average doctors gets here
Some of the absolute best content in the academic fraternity here at youtube.
Very well said and discussed. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the initiative, effort and time spent in educating others and putting up such videos.
The broader point being, such videos are so informative for someone who is planning to take up medical field after 12th, thinking of settling in US. Thanks to both the doctors for sharing their perspectives.
The education, intellectual level of doctors are high here with both being AIIMS caliber. And thats < 0.5 % of medical students each year. And to hear their perspectives and imbibe these into someone who is not AIIMS caliber and is an avg student is best left to the persons interpretation.
I thoroughly enjoy Dr. Aditya's blogs. I really appreciate the time and energy Dr. Aditya puts, to come out with such videos, given such a hectic life he has. Hats off !! and looking for more such video contents.
Extremely helpful...Thank you!
I personally feel although US does provide u financial gains , later in life when u are mature enough and financially stable , money doesn’t make you happy anymore . You miss your parents , your friends , your people and you really question ur life decisions but you can’t do anything about it. Speaking from personal experience. Thankyou!
You can always return u known, no one is tying you to US
But it is something a little bit harder

The points you’ve made is very accurate tu about comparison between Delhi and a sun urban areas of the states but getting into any medical school In Delhi is highly competitive. So purely as a matter of lifestyle, an average person would have a better lifestyle in an average American city than an average Indian city because that’s where most of the population is going to go
they are comparing brightest of Indian MBBS, among .1 percent
Avg Doctors even dentists in US drive Tesla / Porsche . In india avg doctor life is middle class .
Except dentists/orthodontists aren't looked down upon at in those countries. In fact getting into dentistry is really competitive over there, unlike in India. Dentists aren't even considered as doctors worthy of respect. We really do have some toxic limitations that needs to be eradicated.
@@Nancy-pw5lv the reason for that is dentistry is considered a separate field. In India, most people doing dentistry are those who couldn’t get into MBBS. Unless this changes and the public perspective changes, the mindset will stay the same. Dentists earn good in both places.
@@Nancy-pw5lv exactly!
@@Nancy-pw5lv Look down forget that in US even a plumber is given as much respect if not more as doctors. There is no discrimination among profession.
In India plumber isn't even considered human ( I don't know what they are considered) sick twisted mindset that's what explains all the fights concerning religion and all that crap. The country going down the drain very sad.
While younger upcoming generation are busy in TikTok and Instagram bs.
Leadership is missing if this continues soon we will see people walking pass someone bleeding in the street and don't bother at all while others look around and capture photo to put in their what'sapp status or Instagram or other social media crap.

Interestingly, you both look slightly unhappy while discussing these points of India vs USA. At the end of the day, happiness is a state of mind, it comes from internally. Rememebr, grass is always green on the other side. I am grateful to you both to share this video with us.
Man, these videos are made after a tiring day of work, we are not professional youtubers, nor do we have the time or money to invest in mic/ dslr/ professional video editing. That being said, instead of focusing on the video’s mood, you should focus on the content. Whatever content the video has, is gained after many personal experiences that cannot be acquired from books.
@@jonaskahnwald7394 as a viewer, I will notice everything from mood to affect to thought process and thought content. I see my friends who are in USA drive BMW or Audi right from residencies and I drive Baleno after saving tons of money. My seniors in India treat me like shit. USA residents have iPhones and I have OP. My friends and family members are jealous of me bcz I am a doctor. My patients yell at me and their relatives can beat my anytime. Sir, first year book list please.
Hey Aditya bhaiya, just a little suggestion
Whenever you upload a long video like this, add timestamps.
Sabtar please check the pinned comment by Sir.
Excellent video Dr. Gupta. This is the most relevant content for our scenario. My daughter wants to pursue medicine. She is currently in 10th grade. We have USA green card and living in India. She is clear that she wants to become a doctor(Neuro surgeon) and also clear about settling down in India. But we are in dillema between doing medicine from USA vs India. What would you suggest? I think getting into AIIMS or any other top med school in India is super hard, compared to that getting into an equivalent med school in USA is not that hard. but considering she wants to live in India post her medical education is making this decision difficult. how hard will it be for her to come back to India practice in India pot her USA education(undergrad etc.. from USA). Or it's better to give NEET UG and study in India itself.
take the india route if you want her to practice in India. it will save her 2 years(6vs8 in US) and a hell lot of money. also remember that degrees only upto US MD(equivalent to mbbs) and mbbs are inter-reconginzable in both the countries.

Awesome discussion..but i still feel confused
Me too.
I would rather stay back in India .
I don't know why but I just can't go outside to live I can go for vacations buttttttttt still I am attached to India and I just can't leave her (India) she is like my mother and I can't leave my mother. You would most probably earn more there but I can do with less money but satisfaction is imp ,I just can't sleep peacefully in any other country............: /
So true....
You can definitely sleep peacefully here with the fear of getting beaten by some patient's relatives.
