Everyone told me to lie but I went with my gut feeling that if I thought that the opportunity was right and within the merits of US immigration laws I will consider. They appreciated my honesty and my visa was approved.

I know a person who went to US on a tourist visa and overstayed and worked illegally for 10 years, until he was assaulted by a US citizen who robbed the gas station that he was working illegally. The guy applied for U visa as a viticm of crime and got his Green card through that process, recently he became a US citizen.
