As far as power from the high compression to the 150 hc piston. Was the power.jump noticeable?

I have almost the exact same build but I’m not sure if it’s my mechanic working on my bike but I’m having small leak on the head gasket I took it in to get the gasket replaced paid almost 500 dollars for the gasket and just labor! And it was leaking again! Have you noticed any issues like this? I have about the same amount of miles as u with this kit it runs super strong and all that it just has a small leak should I take the bike to someone else to work on?

@imNoobi3st Pretty common having the oil leak at the head gasket on the gen 1. It’s recommended to use thin layer of rtv on the copper gasket. I have over 2k on my second kit and have the leak now. I’ll be tearing it down this winter i have a ported head I’m putting on so I’ll make sure it’s sealed up then. Also Retorque your head bolts with being freshly put together and with engine heat expansion and retraction they may have loosened up slightly allowing seepage

Retorque your head bolts to the proper torque spec with a torque wrench, heat expands and cold contracts causing the bolts to loosen up.

Nice build! Could you please give a simple list of your engine mods? I'm buying a '23 and I have been totally confused about what that 149cc kit needs...too many voices out there. Oil cooler.. (Kitaco?); clutch springs, right? What kind of Intake? ECU flashed... or Power Commander? Oil pump? YOUR build there is the level I'm looking for.

Youll need the cam to go with the 149. Oil cooler is needed on 22+ because they made the stroke longer and it’s more susceptible to heat. The aracer is better than the power commander in that you can link it to your phone instead of needing a laptop. And you should have that with the AF2 plugged into your exhaust, because there’s too many variables to cover with just a flash. If you can find and afford the yoshi exhaust with the required O2 bung, it’s better than a cheap exhaust and having a bung welded in. I personally went with a dual high mount from LeoVince because of the bung and I wanted to be cool lol. But they also make single low mounts with the bung that are exceptional quality at half the price of a yoshi. But those are the basics you’ll need. 149 kit, oil cooler, aracer, AF2, cam, intake, 150 injector, and an exhaust with a bung. I can’t tell what intake he is running, but you’ll want a dinger or chimera because the mnthbx intake I put in mine needed to be modified to work with the kitaco oil cooler.

@@ghettosled1976 THANKS!! but a little too late; I went with a KTM 890R Duke instead! a BIG "Grom"

@@888jackflash that’s cool. I’ve always said the grom is more suited to people who have other bikes, or have owned other bikes for a long time. You appreciate how much fun they are that way. I’m 48 and been riding street bikes for 32 years. People who get them as a first bike or something to learn on typically grow out of them quickly and sell them. I grew INTO mine and I’ve been saying for years I’ll never get rid of it lol. If you have the room, add one to your stable in the future. You won’t regret it!

@@ghettosled1976 Thanks bud! I was really jazzed on the Grom for quite a while.. had done tons of homework, sat on them in dealerships.. was fingering my checkbook.. Finally I decided to leave that bike for later- #1 I'm a large guy (275 lbs) and that confronted me.. #2 I live in an area where traffic has become quite deadly (NY suburbs), and I've been having way too many close calls on my larger bikes as it is (FJR1300/Bandit 1200/KTM890R). People don't see me now- how much worse on a Grom? In the end it would just be a "toy", and also I would need to spend a lot on mods- (I KNOW me!)... So... perhaps later, if I move to a quieter locale. But- THANKS, I will absolutely keep your suggestions in mind! SHINY-SIDE UP!

So the bike and upgrades most likely adds up to around $8,500, is that a close call, I'm thinking about doing the same thing 👍🏆.

Sounds like you don't ride at all. I ride twice what you did in a year every month. Get on the thing and ride it.
