I think that there is an error about the die bonus at the warrior places. You get to do whatever action associates with the color of the die no matter if it has a light or dark background.
Yes -- having the option to chain a warrior placement with another placement (esp. placing a courtesan) by using the dark card options in the castle goes a long way towards making the game more satisfying!
At 47:26 he made an error and should get 1 Point, so both got at the end scoring 37 points. You first take the card and put it to your latern area and then trigger the light effect from the new card, that means the latern bonus with that one point. If there is a tie, whoever is higher in the order of turns wins. So she would win anyway.
Nice game! Such a useful video for me. But blue won actually, you counted the points wrong (you gave yellow 3 extra points for free when counting gardeners). Also, after 3rd round, players can no longer activate bridges actions even when there's remaining dice there.
Just got this! Usually play solo (but I like you two so darn much) I still had to check out your gameplay and general chit chat over it, always a pleasure. Happy Gaming!
Placed my preorder. A little concerned as we are not quick players and there might be some AP issues. 2 of 3 of us really like Red Cathedral which.we played last week.
Played 3-player this evening. I really think highly of this game, but I felt a lot of pressure blecause you need to squeeze out every ounce every turn and if you have a weak turn it feel like such a killer..
Anthony also lost out on another point on his last turn when he took the card from the second floor. He should have flipped his card from his player board first before running the lantern and that had a fan symbol on the back.
The Red Cathedral is one of our favorite games and I also bought Bamboo after watching your playthrough (but haven't tabled it yet). Prior to watching your video, I had seen a couple of reviews of the game and felt confused: it just seemed overly fiddly. Somehow, in watching your playthrough, I really started to understand the flow of the game. And I love the fact that each player has only nine turns. Thanks for posting! (P.S. Do you feel like getting your gardeners out early is the best strategy or are there multiple paths to victory?)
Played a 3-player game last week. I became increasingly frustrated with the game, as it seemed far too easy and these games just don't work like that. The other 2 players got all their meeples onto the board, and we were all pulling off huge combos. I managed a 'realistic' score in the 50s, whereas the other 2 amassed nearly 100 points each. Turned out I had missed the rule which states that you only gain the bonus meeple resources/actions if you use the 6 space on the player board; we used them every time we placed a meeple...
Gardner’s bonus shouldn’t be taken after the third round :) a very nice playthrough :) great game :) thanks!

I agree. Light or dark background, as long as color matches.

small box! One hour! Crunchy! This is what we want more of!

Great catch! Thanks

Thank so much! Appreciate you!

Kitchen table size games are great to see. So many new games are bloated in size. They won’t even fit on my game topper anymore.

End score should be 36:34 for Ant. You scored one yellow gardner (3 pointer) twice. Great game and playthrough BTW!
Thanks!
I love the combos this game offers. It looks like an AP player's worst nightmare though.
Yeah we struggled with AP for sure

I think there are multiple strategies that will work here
