Using troops as cannon fodder has been the only feature of the so-called Russian Art of War since the Napoleonic Wars. Sometimes it works like in Stalingrad, sometimes it fails.
Ukraine has mobilised over 12 times and are trying to force Ukrainian expats in other countries to return to fight on the front . That indicates massive manpower shortages . So there is cannon fodder but it’s not Russian

I went and looked up our Gen. Zwack cause, "Zwack", I had to make sure I wasn't on the Onion channel by mistake. But if anybody knows the score it's probably this guy. Been in and around military before and seen or heard of very few people who have punched so many tickets in one lifetime, as a guy like Zwack. Speaks 5 languages, made it 3rd from the highest rank of US Army, Ranger tab, served everywhere on the planet plus fought & survived several wars.
Boy is this guy under-employed nowadays.

From my POV an interesting question is how people of the middle managements and below deal with the current situation and how they go on: On the one hand side there is a risk of being punished for bribery or stealing something, on the other hand side those people "need" to keep their lifestyle which is not possible if they simply follow rules.
There is a joke about a worker who always passed the facility gate with his barrow when going home and somehow the security guys knew he was stealing. This went on and on until this worker retired and the security guys finally asked him: "How did you do it? What did you take with you?" And his answer was: "Barrows".
When people need something, but cannot buy it somewhere or afford it and have no other options left they will take it from the company. This may be something simple like a ballpen, a printer cartridge, printing paper, some components for the own or the children's PCs, a SD-card, screws, metal parts, motor oil, etc. Only small things that no one really misses but if everyone does it it slowly crippels the company/administration, the mindset, etc.

Sober realisation of not just Ukrainian resilience but also Russian and that it is here for the longer term. Ukraine now has to face a Russia that can keep up this effort throughout 2024 and realistically in Ukraine's 2025 counter-offensive optimised period. This war is thus attritionally for Russia not manpower or equipment and ammunition replacement not altering and probably increasing yet further. Yes this is 2 years in to minimum 4 year war and Putin could replicate a similar Chechnya length conflict. They are now no longer thinking or expressing war as movement in campaigns in batches of months to achieve stage posts but a war at least as long as the one so far. This is the way it goes they are now realising what I said on a day one a failed invasion followed by an increasingly larger war lasting many years and the country first to that action can gain the advantage. Ukraine under Zelenskyy has yet to manufacture 1 tank either updated Russian or western tooled tank production lines. I think he should realise that reserve of old legacy Soviet tanks are not the answer he needs to produce the Russians already doing 1500 last year.
Don't forget though, Russia has another "enemy" to fight the Ukrainians don't: International sanctions. It's surely true many nations are breaking the sanctions but Russia is a vast and heavily industrialized nation, and they are at war, that devours goods of all kinds like a black hole. And you cannot support such a nation with an underground economy for long!

He is jumping around alot. Can't figure out to stay on subject. Further when it comes to fortifications at the border near kharkiv. It is simply not possible to build. So of course they could pretty much just walk in. No heavy equipment would survive even an hour before being bombed there. Russia could use artillery easy. But ukraine could not since most are supplied by the west incl ammo and therefore for allowed to hit russian territory until a few weeks or days ago. So all fortifications near the border had to be build at night with shovels. The real fortifications are placed close to kharkiv. Wich is why Russia have problems moving forward now. But seriously this guy needs to stop going out on long tales and stick to the question. Rarely have I seen such a bad interview.
