Nice, have you discovered Vegetable broth..that's everywhere now..which means it's more convenient to do a partial intermittent fast because that's much easier when you exercise and stay active which is what all chronic disease patients should be doing so they don't lose immunity, muscle and bone. Even the partial intermittent can include such things as 2 to 4 soda crackers or vegetable broth bouillions etc. Lipton has it mastered. I am all for Lipton/Faux Fasting, hehe. Tea and soup, lovely. None of this I would do without BCAA, Best BCAA from BPI Sport. I need a plug, advertisement.
1/4 lb of fat is a lot of fat, should that be protein? A combo? Then it's less fat. I'm thinking about cheating days..or well, rather, how to avoid an emergency: Large Fries...that's 5 oz but there could be more fat and starch and carbs in there.
I do a 18:6 fast and have cut down carbs and sugars. It is easy to do, free and I seldom feel hungry while fasting. You start slow and over a few months you have your desired fasting regimen and your body has adjusted to eating less food and eating all day long. No drugs and no doctors insisting that fasting doesn't work. I think for most people, it will work. My food bill is at least 30% lower. My blood pressure is lower and my acid reflux problems have gone away.
Morning I ate 5 almond, 4 walnuts, 2 dates Two white boil eggs or Scramble eggs Wit spinach, carrots and mushrooms or Oats milk shake wit berries or Oats banana pancake Lunch Orange and green apple Something add any one more fruit Dinner Veg or non Veg gravy with Wheat bread or Chapati or Quinoa Drink 3 liters hot water Now started exercise for 30 minutes in the morning.. hope loss 8 kgs more I update my weight lost in end of April
I feel Intermittent Fasting was the most effective thing I did to transform my health over the past 2 years. Combined with a Ketogenic diet, I came off all meds and brought my A1c down from 9.9 to 4.9 WITHOUT meds.
@@kaitlin2400 Why when you can lose and feel great eating delicious meats and cheeses etc?! People that eat vegan can look and feel great and so can people that aren't vegan. It's the processed carbs and sugars etc that makes someone look and feel terrible.
@@freebornjohn6876 I plan to eat this way forever. I just flew to Colorado Spring for a big two day event. I only at dinner. Fasted the rest of the time. So much energy. Focused. Didn't have to worry about eating. Liberating. But, yes, you can eat continually in your window if you choose. But you won't want to. I eat two big meals a day now. 10am and 5pm
From 250 to 190!and still going I literally just started to eat a chicken salad every day one time a day with water all day some exercise and 3 months later 6 inches of my waist
5 months of IF, and lost 20 kgs / 44 lbs! Started with 16:8 and now on 18:6, still chasing my target. First couple of weeks I was a Grinch, but now my relationship with food is so positive it's almost miraculous 😀
Great class. I'll definitely subscribe. I went from 230 to 180 (50lbs.) in less than 3 months. Every doctor should know this and teach this. Unfortunately there's no money in the cure. I have been doing keto and 18-6 fast for 10 months. Other small items people should know 1. Lots of leafy greens for potassium yo help your liver process the fat. 2. Apple Cider Vinegar helps alot 3. Sugar and carbs are not necessary nutrients and high fructose corn syrup is highly addictive. 4. After about 2 weeks of zero sugar you may become physically ill (keto flu) as your body begins using ketones as fuel instead of sugars...don't give in, this is where people give up and fail. Once you break through your life will completely change for the better.
How many days or hours does Keto Flu last because I’m really interested about trying this ? And for my first day what time window do u think I should try to eat in & what is exactly ok to eat food wise & within that window how many times am I allowed to eat ? That’s the part I’m still kinda confused on. But my normal day to day I usually will only eat once a day & usually eat that meal until after 5-6 or 7pm so I think this will possibly be a good diet for me.
It's different for everyone. You should search keto flu and there will be lots of tips to avoid/limit the flu. I personally didn't suffer from it. a few tips are to stay hydrated and increase your salt intake. Also, slowly entering a state of ketosis is helpful. Instead of drastically dropping your carbs to less than 20 immediately, you can try reducing them gradually. Good Luck!
I've been doing no carbs, no sugar and no snacks for about 4 weeks, Wow , I have lost 12 pounds 😊.I'm going to do keto as soon as I'm adjusted more. Thank you so much.
I do 19:5 every day, I'm 63 years old and I have been doing 19:5 for 22 months and plan to do it for the rest of my life. I have lost 43 lbs in total and have kept it off for over a year. I try to eat real unprocessed food and cut way back on added sugar most of the time.
Aggrobiscuit not sure why you say that. Depends on how much you eat in that window. I 16/ 8 most days with a few one meal days inbetween. Gives your insulin a rest. I was prediabetic. Not any more..... and i am 66
I'm doing 16:8 and seeing great results, but I don't do keto. I absolutely despise being restricted to certain foods. Like, if I want to eat a cheeseburger I'm going to eat one. I'm losing weight because I only eat twice a day and stop at 8 p.m., which means I'm no longer drinking a bunch and snacking at night. All these docs who keep pushing that you also have to do keto need to stop, because this can actually be effective if you're like me and drop "diets" that restrict you after a couple weeks.
Just started as well I usually have rice veggies fish and nuts I am currently on my 4th day of omad See Dr. Jason jeung It's a life style basically you want to reset the body to keep low insulin levels The processed sugars in modern foods got our bodies programmed for secreting excess insulin
There is a big different between a fasting diet and a keto. The reason doctors recommend keto isn’t because they want to bust your balls, it’s because how bad for your most of the calories you are consuming are for you. It isn’t so much about weight loss. It’s about preventing diabetes and if you weren’t aware check the number of Americans who are diabetic or pre diabetic it’s scary and not restricted to just overweight people. I was insulin resistant whilst walking 16-32kms a day for work. Insulin resistance is something that accumulates over years of HCLF living.
Same here. I've done 16:8 IF (2 meals) without restrictions for over a year now. I was able to get rid of my NAFLD and the icing on the cake is I lost 30 lbs and 3'' down on my waistline. Still doing IF but sometimes I snack to maintain my weight.
I've been doing the 16:8 as well, lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I've lost 1 inch on my waist and stomach. I eat what I want but my first meal is always low carb and my second depending if I'm cooking or eating out, Love that I'm not restricting what I like to eat and it's working 🤗 good luck all
My eating window is 12 noon to 6 PM. This is working great for me. I'm never hungry and I'm losing every week! I also exercise before I eat also and I think this helps too!
I do the exact same 12 to 6. Low in carbs, no sugar, exercise, small portions during the week and I eat bigger portions in the weekends including more carbs. It works out perfect for me😁
I have been doing 12:12 for about 6 weeks now and I cant believe the results I am having. I feel better and dropped 17 lbs. All I do is count calories(about 1200-1500 daily), avoiding the obvious no's as much as possible and excercising ( so far just walking). Keto is not for me.
That's awesome great job...I've been doing 16:8 for a month and I incorporate Chloe ting daily exercises and bike riding(not long trips yet). Im only down 11lbs but it's a start
Yes, my husband and I are going to start the 16:8 tomorrow using our usual Mediterranean diet as recommended by his oncologist. We will be adding walking/yoga alternately. I'm glad to see someone not doing the keto diet. Thank you Maryann.
Hey Dr. Becky, thanks for your great video...I've been on I.F. 8 - 16 for two weeks today, cut out all sodas, only drinking black coffee in the morning (first time in years without sugar) my starting weight 198, I'm 5 foot 10 inches tall - 63 years old. No underlining health problems, don't drink, don't smoke. I.F. may not be for everyone but it sure has worked for me to loss some weight...so far so good...today's weight 185.
@@jonogren5567 OMG! feeling great! Lost another few pounds down to 180. Currently I've been searching for the best tasting coffee, watching lots of videos on what you need to make great coffee at home, learning lots about coffee, coffee grinders, pour over coffee makers...crazy. Drinking coffee black, you need great coffee. Also, I have make a few minor changes to my fasting, now I fast for 6/18 and twice a month I do a 40 hours fast. One of the biggest things I have notice is that food tastes so much better when you come off a 40 hour fast...crazy. Hey Jon, is this working for you?
That is amazing!! I just started a day ago and already feel better. Doing 18/6. Eating whatever I want right now. Putting mct oil in my coffee in the morning helps me to wait until noon to start eating. Will check my weight in a week to see how it is going. Will tweak it as I go along. Definitely feel better though after 1 day. 18 hour rest from eating helps I’m sure.
Hello Becky ! Extreme Intermittent Fasting is what I am doing successfully and losing a lot of weight. I do not eat for 21 hours. My eating window is only between 8:00 pm till 11:00 pm. I eat proteins and carbohydrates during that time. When I am not eating, I only drink water and coffee without sugar and milk. I lost 35 pounds in 2.5 months. I go to the Gym 3 times a week.
Been doing a 14 hours fast for 2months now. A light breakfast and eating a normal lunch and dinner. Same as before. No sweat snacks/cookies anymore. Just some fruit and nuts. It became a routine pretty easy and lost 4kilo's already. Not feeling hungry at all. No keto or cutting carbs. Its just not practical with cooking for the entire family. Besides I like my bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. I am happy with the results so far and also confident I can keep it up.
As a woman who has been doing low carb for almost 2 years now that just turned 50. I have lost 55lbs total, 14 in the past 3 weeks. Nature made magnesium high potency soft gels 400mg, and switching to Himalayan pink salt has made a huge difference in how I am loosing weight and how I feel.
Doc, I’m in the middle of an extremely extreme fast. Three weeks ago I started out at 182 lbs. I have been limiting myself to 200 calories per day. What does that look like ? I have a few combinations but a can of sardines and a punnet of blackberries add up to 200 calories. I am now at 159 lbs a loss of 23 lbs in three weeks. Best of all I don’t feel hungry and I feel great. I’m a diabetic.....I used to take about 60 units of insulin per day now I only need 5. We have been taught to believe that if we go without food for three days we will die. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many of us are carrying around our waists a 50 day ration pack.
Since last few months I am on intermittent fasting: one meal in 24 hrs. Lost 25 kgs in three months. Feel highly energetic, can play longer and am feeling lot more healthier.
It's the carbs and the insulin response from eating carbs. When you take carbs out of the diet and go low carb, keto or carnivore, your satiety signal goes through the roof and you no longer have any desire to graze and eat many times a day. I was a gluttonous volume eater my whole life, went keto a few months ago and the difference in hunger and satiety is night and day. If you haven't tried it, give it a spin for a couple of weeks and you'll see what I mean.
I've been doing one meal per day lately .Being handicapped and prone to a more sedentary lifestyle I find this works for me. I can and do alternate at times to a 16/8 intermittent fast mostly for social reasons to have lunch with friends or whatever. When I'm not socializing I just eat supper. Mostly I do it to improve my insulin resistance in order to keep blood sugar low lose fat and because I'm technically type 2 diabetic and I'm determined to fix that through intermittent fasting. P.S. I don't find this difficult and it seems to be working.I feel I consume adequate nutrients and I've just eliminated day long night long grazing.
it's like finding not just a doctor who 'gets it', it's like finding an educated bff who is only a click away! Thanks, Dr.Becky, you calmed down my over active 'why me?' mindset and shown me i'm not alone and without answers.
Great video Becky! Look, all I needed to do was lose 10 lbs, just 10 lbs. I'm 63 and I did the low carb last year and dropped 10 or 15 lbs and so I low carbed it again about 3 months ago to finish the job and get down to my target wgt but my weight didn't budge at all. So I took 2 weeks and did one meal a day. It was brutal but the weight started to drop! I don't eat until noon and I make it a nutritious variety. I now nibble a little to make it through the tortuous evenings and as of one hour ago, I am only 1.5 lbs away from what I've wanted for years! Becky, fasting works!! Once the goal is reached I will add food little by little. Keep up the good work Becky and thank you for the hard work you put into these videos.
I fast every day for almost 20 hours, I love it. Been doing it for over 3 years, I also do heavy weight lifting every other day in a fasted state of about 18-19 hours and eat after my workout. I don’t do intense cardio fasted, but I have gained muscle doing this
i thought i could never do 16:8 but drinking water a bunch helps TREMENDOUSLY!!!! i eat from 1pm-8pm... two meals a day. one for lunch at 1pm and one for dinner at 6pm(5 hours apart) i eat enough in each meal to fill me up between times, and i don’t have to snack...it works! i’m use to snacking all day long because i’ve been like that my whole life, but i have seen weight loss results tremendously
Good info! I just began a 16/8 fast 10 days ago and I dropped 4 pounds already. I'll eat either from 11 to 7 or 12 to 8. I just want to lose another 15-20 pounds before summer time and I'll reach my goal. I'm using a caloric deficit, not reducing protein grams, just cutting carbs and sugar. I cut rice and pasta out. If I eat bread, I have low carb bread, 16 grams a slice. Also I take BCAA's, MCT Oil, and I use my Total Gym 3 times a week, lift weights twice a week, and do a lot of walking. I hope I can keep it going.
I watching this as I’m going into my 21st hour. Since starting keto 6 months ago I don’t feel hungry most of the time and only eat when I’m hungry and don’t let the clock dictate when I have to eat. I’ve gone from XL to M in this time
I have done the same as you. I was wearing an XL now in a M (and the M is loose) I have gone from 89 kilos down to 60 kilos. Still a little bit more to lose as I am only 5 feet tall.
westfield90 If you don’t let the clock dictate when you eat than how is that fasting? I’m just trying to learn all about this so I can try. Nothing else is working for me.
I would say that westfield90 is fasting and started at a certain time which you do need to, to get to the goal of hours that you want to fast. I fast every day. Sometimes it is a 23 hour fast and other times it can vary with a 16 hour fast and a 18 hour fast. Anything above a 16 hour fast gains you many benefits.
I started 6 weeks ago at 16:8, now at 20:4 and works well. I'm not hungry too much during the fasting period. I've been losing about 1/2lb a day, and also controlling calories to around 1200/day when I do eat. lost about 20lbs so far.
I lost a lot of weight when I stopped eating at night. I maintained that for a while, but during a stressful time in my life I just ate all day long and gained a lot of weight. Even now, after just one day of eating only between 12-8pm, I feel great the next morning.
In combination with doing the 16:8 eating plan, I am also trying to eat slower. Eating slower is a major factor in either weight maintenance, or in weight loss. It answers the major question: How do we eat? How much we eat is constantly being addressed, how fast we eat is not. There are several studies on speed eating, and the benefits of eating slower.
Thanks for your informative videos. After looking at dozens of channels that claim to know all about intermittent fasting, I now get my information and motivation from just two - your channel and Jason Fung. I like how you give really good practical guidance and get straight to the point. No clickbait! After being hungry all the time and yet still stalling in my attempts to lose about 50lbs (at 67 years old) on a 'low calorie' diet, I went straight to 23:1. I eat a high fat meal once a day at about 2pm. After 2 days I didn't feel hungry and I really enjoy steaks, lamb chops, salmon, liver and kidneys (I live in the UK so organ meat is readily available at the local butchers shop), all cooked in butter and accompanied by avocado, blue cheese, asparagus and occasionally some almonds. Grass fed free range meat is expensive, but when you only eat once a day the cost is manageable. I haven't tried the fat fast but if I need a boost to my fat burning I'll give it a go!
I SO recommend this!!! I am in a wheelchair and was putting on a significant amount of weight! I am 61 and had already eliminated starch, carbs (90%) fats, desserts and snacks. So I was left with eating virtually meat and vegetables for lunch and supper plus whole grain toast or a very, very small bowl of cereal with two boiled eggs. Also I have a VERY slow metabolism. I am unable to exercise to as my legs are non weight bearing. I have M.S. so I have virtually no strength or mobility in my right hand and arm and very reduced in my left. So exercise of ANY sort is out of the question. But with Intermittent I have Breakfast and lunch using the same parameters. I drink PLENTY of WATER infused with lemon. The thing I take are my meds but don't eat till breakfast the next morning. I've been on it for 9 weeks now and have taken off almost 3 INCHES!!! YESS!! THANKS to Intermittent Fasting I DON'T have to feel guilty anymore if I have a dessert or go out for supper cuz what I'll do is I wot have lunch but then can have supper!! YES!! I FINALLY have control over my weight!!
John Karperien Thanks sharing for your amazing and encouraging journey. It’s great Dr. Becky has helped you. If you can find time, look at TED talks “ Minding your Mitochondria” by Dr. Terry Wahis, you may find that a great encouragement too. All the best.
Beth Jasso It varies, I try and do low carb/keto a few days a week. On days where I have carbs I limit them to sweet potato or whole grains. I limit my calories to between 500 to 1000 daily
j p but, lots of other diets are based on the whole idea of “calorie deficit” You consume less calories than the body burns = weight loss Though I would agree 500 calories is a bit extreme.
j p starvation is 0 calories. Even with the morbidly obese people, like on “My 600 pound life” the doctor puts them on 800 calories. Sounds crazy but again, there’s fat storage. The point is to make your body tap into it for energy. All weight loss regimens entail caloric restrictions. It’s not forever.. it’s just a “jump start” ❤️
Doing 18 : 6 and OMAD for the past 4 months, together with (mostly) LCHF. Lost 25 pounds. BMI down from 29 to 24. During fasting, I drink coffee with heavy cream, 2-3 times a day. Plus water and lime juice. Today I will try to eat nothing until lunch the following day, that would be 42h fasting. I topped up on a lot of veggies (leafy greens etc) and fat (butter, cream etc) to make sure I can make it without suffering too much.
I'm 68 yrs old, fit, and not overweight, but have that doggone Belly Fat!! I eat Carnivore, with a bit of Keto, (Ketovore) . I just started 12-8 fasting...not hard to do! I find that I normally eat too frequently out of HABIT, and NOT HUNGER! So I do need to change the habit of wanting to munch every time I take a break. Eye opener! Eating less frequently should flatten my belly (seeing progress after 3 days) and changing a habit I was not aware of before! Again, not hard to do, but I've been doing Carnivore, the most satisfying diet I've ever found, for 2 yrs, and am not hungry all the time. Thank you for all your helpful video!
Best explanation of IF I've ever come across. You're a phenomenal teacher! I bet your university students love your classes. Glad I connected with you.
Dr. Becky you are amazing... All this makes so much sense! I no longer eat all the time! Been doing this for a month! Losing weight, no blood sugar spikes or being drowsy( which I HATE)! This has changed my life!!! Meaning I FINEALLY have one!!! Love you for caring and sharing!! I'm also working with a really great coach!😘❤️‼️
Your nutrition teaching style is superb. I have never heard a tone of condemnation or criticism in your presentations. Just great informative teaching that doesn't offend. Your technique surely reaches more, with the ability to change more lives. Great work Dr. Becky!
I guess I've been IF my whole life.....my mom never let us eat after dinner (6:30ish). We never ate breakfast until around 7:30am. Now I'm on a 12 noon- 5pm window of eating. It's so easy when u aren't spiking your blood sugar with carbs.
I have been doing 12-14 hrs daily . Some days 16/8. It helped me to loose wt . 21 lbs in 6 mths. I m 68 yr old. I have stopped sugars+ lowered carbs. It works well. I m preparing for 24 hr water fast.
I did an intermittent fast from 1800 yesterday to 1200 today as I had rummaged through a big stew dish - and filled the dish up twice. full of vegetables, liquid and a neck of lamb. I enjoyed the midday meal far more than if I'd had a morning breakfast. While I do have 3 meals a day normally, I often go somewhere between 12-12 and 14-10 with the exception of later evening gym workouts and the nights I go dancing. I've dropped to 2 slices of whole meal bread from 4 during the past 5weeks and I've drastically cut down on refined sugars. I still have oats (I really benefit from them being a Celt)with raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. The problem is however, if I cut out all carbs then I will wind up looking ill and ridiculously thin. I've already dropped half a stone in about a month reducing the things I have already and I'm now about 9stone12 when I wake up at just under 5'9 (straight out of bed nearly 175cm maximum)and I generally have been going to the gym to build up a reasonable muscle frame for over 20 years, and being naturally skinny, I don't want to revisit those under-developed looking days again. I do need to tweak my diet however and go more palaeolithic in nature while siding with whole foods and vetoing the processed carcinogenic foods and I've got it around 90% right, but the older I become, I find that the mistakes outweigh the benefits to a higher degree. I have Aspergers so I think I'm more emotionally sensitive to the wrong foods and refined sugars create far more erratic moods with higher anxiety overloads. I've done a bread fast this week being off work and I can assure you, I haven't missed it in the slightest. I may try sourdough spelt bread as a last resort at the end of the month however and if I don't benefit from that then I will have to find something to replace it during the days I work (which is almost every day), and that's easier said than done when I have no time to cook food at work, as I work outdoors.
Thank You!!!!! Gratitude galore! Thank you for your wonderfully delivered info. Very quick clear and straight to the point along with lots of great wisdom too. I’m 48 and experiencing “the changes “ and becoming ever increasingly aware my workouts of yesteryear no longer doing the trick as I’m beginning to have for first time in my life “health issues”. Ive started fasting while also searching for your channel exactly. Thank you again💕
Thank You & Your Husband for sharing his trip through Intermittent Fasting. (They can find the videos on his UA-cam Channel). Great to see you two come together and I'm having high hopes for both of you. Like to see how he's doing in six months and 1 year. God Bless You both! I've been 16-8 for a year now and will never return to the days of sugar. I have never been overweight, but it was my BP that made me switch a year ago. Now my numbers are amazing. Life is good & I'm Blessed.
If you're already doing 16:8 it's pretty easy to go to 18:6-20:4 once you've had a couple weeks and I think adding those 3-4 extra fasting hours really makes a difference.
OMG, I see this video is 5 years old but she mentioned her husband losing 53 pounds in 22 weeks. I lost 52 pounds in 22 weeks. You can't make this stuff up. How amazing was that?
I lost over 40 lbs and have kept it off for over a year now. I do a 14 hour water fast every day. then I have 2 cups of coffee, with a little butter and a little heavy cream. I don't eat until after 12 noon. I average 17.5 hours of fasting (per day) every week. I had to add a few carbs back into my feeding window because I lost too much weight and looked sickly. My High weight was 206, Low weight was 159. I am maintaining 165 for the last several months. Feel great, great blood work, and have strength back.
@@Aayshahmed It may sound disgusting , but it doesn't taste it. about 1/4 teaspoon of Kerry Gold grass fed butter (real butter, not margarine). helps you feel full, and doesn't spike your insulin or blood sugar. win win.
@@MR-oj5jy During the time I was loosing the weight, almost none. I had a torn rotator cuff & Bicept, that I finally had repaired in Feb of this year. So the whole time I was loosing weight, it was pretty much all diet. Randa Mohammed About five pounds a week and I don't do any carbs right now. Strictly doing keto to see what the difference is. I've never had an issue gaining or losing weight I just packed on more than I thought and wanted to see the difference in time dieting this way. I can normally and healthily drop 40 to 50 pounds in 3 months no problem. I'm currently 6,3" 260. I was 285 when I started 4 weeks ago. Lost 10 pounds the first week but most of that was water weight. Been steady at 5 a week the past 3 weeks. Due to my height my weight goes every where so it's hard to tell that I'm that weight as well.
I'm also doing the same thing. The first few days are tough, but after that I didn't feel hungry at all. The only problem is that during my one meal I get full really fast and I can't incorporate all of my calories in that. What do you do for that?
Mili Dogra it would depend on what you're eating. In my case I eat 7 eggs scrambled, 1/2 lb ground beef, 1 medium avocado, 1 tbsp avocado oil, two scoops of wheat grass, and a bunch of vegetables, mainly zucchini and kale. It's easy for me too down that plus that's with me now being 240. You don't have to do one meal either. You can very easily do two and just have a short eating window such as two hours. What I would recommend is eating all the vegetables and most fats for the first meal. Then two hours later eat the protein and whatever else you have.
Fa-Ann .P Maybe you should try breakfast at 10 and dinner at 3. Very very low carbs, lots leafy veggies, to bed by 9 or 10pm and you will definitely lose lose lose! Oh! and water throughout. Good luck!😃
I got into intermittent fasting by accident, didn't even know I was doing it till just recently. I have hiatus hernia so can't sleep flat with recently eaten food in my stomach, I eat supper at 6PM and don't eat again till about 9:15AM. I was a healthy weight, but lost 5 pounds in a short time. Now I learn I'm actually doing something beneficial especially as I'm diabetic also. :-)
My eating window is 1pm to 8pm. No more than 800 cals. Plenty of water throughout the day. 10,000 steps a day plus planks and push ups. 7kg loss objective achieved in 12 weeks. BMI now 21. Lean is good
I decided to follow a 5:2 diet and so far it's working well for me. And on my low carb diet I can do 16:8 without really trying, as I never eat breakfast. When I was eating more carbs I could never resist late evening snacking, but now on my low carb diet my dinner satiates me for the rest of the evening. You're a great presenter by the way, love your videos so far.
Ive noticed low carb gives me good energy all day. Fasting longer than 16 or 18 hours sure is tough. I'm not ready for omad just yet but working up to it.
Hi Doctor. I love the way you explain and your soft voice. There’s something I would like to know, I have read a lot of these comments...but I have found that, the reason they do IF it is because they have a health issue...what about people who have no health issue, no diet disease, no daily medication, normal BMI, and quite small builds..because that is me, and some of my friends told me that, it is better not to do the IF everyday... or if someone with this knowledge please let me know. Thank you and greetings from Hong Kong 🇭🇰
I've heard that OMAD is not very good for female reproductive system. But I don't think that 2-3 healthy satiating meals a day are bad for you tbh. And 8 hours are enough time to process the food if you eat every 3,5 hours or so during the window. Cause your gut needs about 3.5-4 hours to digest the food properly.
I’ve been IF for almost a year. I lost 30lbs in 3 months and have kept it off for about 8months since. I started off fairly religious with an 18:6 but I’m not as strict anymore now that I have a better relationship with food. I’ve also done a few 36 hour fasts and I’ve found them to be a challenge but rewarding.
To ease into 2 meals, try MCT oil in your coffee mid morning and skip breakfast. It helps reduce cravings and won't spike your insulin. I haven't tried the bullet coffee, but same idea.
@@NoName-qt6wb medium chain triglycerides. Or coconut oil. I hear some people use butter but that's too weird for me. I have little understanding, so you probably should look around. Dr. Berg has great videos on it.
I’ve been intermittent fasting for about a month (only been super strict on it for about 2 weeks) - my schedule is I fast from 8pm to 12pm next day - and also I’ve been exercising (running and weights) and counting calories a bit and I’ve lost 10 pounds in these 4-5 weeks. I also feel better during work, less tired, more productive! I have a cup of black coffee every morning that helps suppress the appetite and help with energy! So far I am liking IF however it was kind of easy for me to implement It because I’ve never been a big breakfast eater to begin with
Dr. Gillaspy, I am on a diet very similar to your husband. On two weeks thus far and had some great success. I fast 16-18 hours a day and eat high protein and high fat. I will update you following my 90 days
I do one meal a day and wow, do I enjoy that meal...worked my way to it and it works so well...I never feel "bogged down", rarely even feel hungry...I am clear minded, no indigestion or gut issues anymore. Feel younger and some say I look younger (my hubs and my grown daughters) I will be 59 in a couple weeks and so glad I have changed my eating habits. Life changing.
Hi thank you for your help in understanding the fasting I wondered if I can I do this keto diet, as I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago look forward to hearing from you
Its really east to understand what she is saying, straight to the point, and down to earth. I like it because the video is not too long besides it spoke about all the details that a person should know to start such a diet! Thank you humble Dr.
Hey y'all! I've been intermittent fasting for 3 months and have gone from a Levi's size 30 to a 27!! I'm 54 and nothing else has worked! I cycle (to keep my metabolism in check) between 3 normal, healthy meals a day maybe once or twice a week, OMAD 3-4 days a week, and 18/6. I don't bother with weird restrictive diets. Watermelon's good. Ripe juicy peaches are good. Can't eat those on KETO. You can NOT get all your nutrients on Keto. You think you'll be able to just supplement potassium? Good Luck taking 20 pills a day for potassium alone. I eat lots of fruits, veggies, beans, grains, nuts, seeds, and occasionally stuff my gob with some pizza or grilled chicken. This is a way of eating I can stick to. I tried Keto and was miserable - you know when something just doesn't *feel* right? Plus, fat trying to escape out of your skin should be a red flag. I watched a video about "health influencers" of the past 200 years. High fat diets as well as carnivore diets have, on the record, been around that long, they just go in and out of style. And all of the promoters of these diets had died too young of cardiovascular issues and cancers. Soooo just sayin' Y'all stay safe out there 😁
So true. I ate from 12-8p and lost 20lbs in 3months last year, starting back up again doing 8-4p🤩 went from 170 to 147🤩 goal weight 140🤩 I don’t crave sugar anymore or constantly think about food
I love your practical approach to health. Thank you for a sensible not gimicky style of coaching. So many channels seem like they're selling me something and overstimulate. Cheers!
I would also like to share that at night I fall asleep listening to a hypnotherapy app on weight loss. The next day I’m literally not hungry. The apps are free to download from the App Store and they work. I’m gonna follow the 12/12 fasting, eating low carb, keep walking and listening to my app each night and let u guys know what happens in two weeks!
I do weight ww program with intermittent fasting I fast 16 hrs plus a day. im one month in and almost lost 15lbs I have done this before and lost 80lbs the first round during covid gained but I stand by this method cold heartedly. It worsk 100000%
One week and 1,5kg tells you nothing, because it depends on salt/water/etc. in your body. 12-12 is not good enough and no real fasting - I did this for years and gained weight - now I do 20-4 to 22-2 with lowered carbs (no real low carb) and it works.
Tip 1: Change your mindset about food. Find a reason why you should fast daily. Tell yourself: "I dont need food to be happy or active. I always feel better when i do not eat..." If you are a Christian then you can add this: "It helps curb my desires and gives me more time to think and pray" Tip 2: Intermittent Fasting is a must do. Forget about keto diet, etc cos they are temporary and not habitual... IF is habitual and sustainable. Do not fast less than 16 hours a day. I do 18 or 20 daily, and drink water regularly... Tip 3: Meal prep is very important... Make sure you prepare your meals to last for at least 1 week, and they are easily microwaveable. It will stop you from eating unhealthy or unplanned meals. Ensure you add alot of veggies to your meals like carrots, beet, greens, ball peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc... They boost metabolic burning process and make your food rich... Tip 4: Less cardio, more strength exercises... Cardio makes you exhausted when fasting, but strength makes you feel stronger and muscle building increases your daily metabolic burning rate... I am 1-2 months in, already burnt more than 30% body fat, fitting into old clothes, feeling healthier, lighter and stronger... CONSISTENCY IS KEY!!! I wish you the best 👍
I slowly eased into a 21:3 a day fast and during those 3 hours I eat a huge salad and one snack and the weight is falling off!I feel great but, surprised by family members who try and derail you.
I don't understand how 12:12 is even fasting when most people normally consume all of their food within 12 hours anyway - for example, breakfast at 8:00 a.m., lunch at noon, dinner at 6pm. I guess it would cut out late night snacking but that's really it.
Unfortunately they don't eat this way, they keep eating right until they go to bed which obviously is bad to do. Which is why 12:12 is beneficial for some. I know a lady who said she eats her main meal at 9pm and then has a snack at about 11:30am before she goes to bed at 12pm. Then gets up at 7am and eats again. So that's hardly any time without food at all and she is overweight.
Most people are just jumping into intermittent fasting way too quick. It's a gradual process you need to implement over time, and the reason you are starving doing it, is because you have taken bigger leaps than your body can adapt to. 👊💥
The medium option works great for me, I don’t have to worry about adding a few more carbs in my large meal at night (Veggie, nut/seed carbs). I believed in the past you needed to eat breakfast everyday but my body/mind say different so i’m pleased.

What is 5% fat? What does 5% fat look like?

Sounds amazing! Did u eat whatever you wanted in your 6 hour window? How many meals?
Great class. I'll definitely subscribe. I went from 230 to 180 (50lbs.) in less than 3 months. Every doctor should know this and teach this. Unfortunately there's no money in the cure. I have been doing keto and 18-6 fast for 10 months. Other small items people should know
1. Lots of leafy greens for potassium yo help your liver process the fat.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar helps alot
3. Sugar and carbs are not necessary nutrients and high fructose corn syrup is highly addictive.
4. After about 2 weeks of zero sugar you may become physically ill (keto flu)
as your body begins using ketones as fuel instead of sugars...don't give in, this is where people give up and fail. Once you break through your life will completely change for the better.
We can loss fats 8kilos in 10 days from taking herbalife like my guest did as some others.
Good Luck!

Sir can you give me 1 information with intermittent fasting exercise is compulsory or not if compulsory which type of exercise for fat loose
Just started as well
I usually have rice veggies fish and nuts
I am currently on my 4th day of omad
See Dr. Jason jeung
It's a life style basically you want to reset the body to keep low insulin levels
The processed sugars in modern foods got our bodies programmed for secreting excess insulin
Tony Hardman you might not be aware of this, but the keto diet is very important to Type 2 diabetics. I'm quite sure this is why it is significant.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing your routine and success, Adam!
Well done. I'm considering a similar routine, how's your diabetes now?

Hi Judy, how are you doing

This woman explains it, far better than anyone.
I love your style of explaining. I do intermittend fasting 16-8 and keto about 12 weeks and i lost 20 pounds.
I watching this as I’m going into my 21st hour. Since starting keto 6 months ago I don’t feel hungry most of the time and only eat when I’m hungry and don’t let the clock dictate when I have to eat. I’ve gone from XL to M in this time
well done I'm getting ready to start
Good for you!!

I've been doing intermittent fasting for a while and it works indeed. I feel more energetic plus I have lost weight.
In combination with doing the 16:8 eating plan, I am also trying to eat slower. Eating slower is a major factor in either weight maintenance, or in weight loss. It answers the major question: How do we eat? How much we eat is constantly being addressed, how fast we eat is not. There are several studies on speed eating, and the benefits of eating slower.
ya Richard i think so too
No time to eat super slow, if you have to eat enough in a two hour window for 22-2. ;)

I've been doing Medium, 16:8 and the fasting includes sleeping; it's easier for me than 12:12. It's been helping me so far.
Been watching low carb vids for about 3 1/2 months now. You are by far the best teacher/presenter on all these channels.
Doc, I did IF 16/8, I lost 12 Kg in 3 months. See my photo (result) 😊 Now, I'm trying 20/4 for maintenance. Thanks, Doc 👍🏻

Totally agree. So many videos take 12-15 mins before getting to the point.
John Karperien Thanks sharing for your amazing and encouraging journey. It’s great Dr. Becky has helped you. If you can find time, look at TED talks “ Minding your Mitochondria” by Dr. Terry Wahis, you may find that a great encouragement too. All the best.
9 weeks of OMAD and 35 pound down
Adele 73 what do you eat the one meal?
Beth Jasso It varies, I try and do low carb/keto a few days a week. On days where I have carbs I limit them to sweet potato or whole grains. I limit my calories to between 500 to 1000 daily
Adele 73 500-1000? That’s starvation. You’re losing weight because you’re starving your body. Unless you weigh 80lbs, that’s not even near enough.
j p but, lots of other diets are based on the whole idea of “calorie deficit”
You consume less calories than the body burns = weight loss
Though I would agree 500 calories is a bit extreme.
j p starvation is 0 calories.
I love coffee ☕️ 7 creams 7 sugars. Large cup
❤❤❤ Thanks
Hi Tami, how are you doing
I am 47 and intermittent fasting is the only thing that helped me start to lose weight!! I started end of May last year and I am down 30+ pounds
Wonderful Tara!! All of this inspires me. I just started IF two days ago and looking forward to seeing "less" of me!
Oh my God that sounds so disgusting, Coffee with butter! How?
@@Aayshahmed It may sound disgusting , but it doesn't taste it. about 1/4 teaspoon of Kerry Gold grass fed butter (real butter, not margarine). helps you feel full, and doesn't spike your insulin or blood sugar. win win.
What is your exercise routine?
@@MR-oj5jy During the time I was loosing the weight, almost none. I had a torn rotator cuff & Bicept, that I finally had repaired in Feb of this year. So the whole time I was loosing weight, it was pretty much all diet. Which proved to me that while exercise is Great for you body and overall health, I Do Not see it as a primary weight loss tool any longer. It can help, but what & when you eat are WAY more important.
I'm good. Fast 23 hours a day. 1 meal a day. Works great and I'm never hungry.
Evan Thomas and did you lose weight fast or slow? And how you break your fast on high carbs or low?
Good luck!😃
i eat from 8am to 4pm daily, been doing it for more than 10yrs now. its so good and healthy.
Thank you very much for this simple and concise explanation. I just started the 16:8 two days ago, so far so good. Excellent video.
To ease into 2 meals, try MCT oil in your coffee mid morning and skip breakfast. It helps reduce cravings and won't spike your insulin. I haven't tried the bullet coffee, but same idea.
What is mct oil?
So far I am liking IF however it was kind of easy for me to implement It because I’ve never been a big breakfast eater to begin with
I find One Meal A Day the easiest because once I’m done with that meal then I’m done for the day. No ambiguity.
Thanks. I just started the 16 8 and i'll see what happens. You are straight to the point with very little chatter. love it.
Dr. Gillaspy, I am on a diet very similar to your husband. On two weeks thus far and had some great success. I fast 16-18 hours a day and eat high protein and high fat. I will update you following my 90 days
this is litterally the best explanation on the intermittent diet. Thanks
1MEAL. 1 PLATE. 1 BEVERAGE. 1 TIME.
EAT AND BE DONE WITH IT !!!
OMAD ! ONE-MEAL-A-DAY ! IS ANOTHER WAY TO DO INTERMITTENT FASTING ..
Franco Catucci can I lose the fat?
Tamieka Katrina yup
Thanks forgot what Omad was :)
Warrior fast = (20 : 4) is another method
I do one meal a day and wow, do I enjoy that meal...worked my way to it and it works so well...I never feel "bogged down", rarely even feel hungry...I am clear minded, no indigestion or gut issues anymore. Feel younger and some say I look younger (my hubs and my grown daughters) I will be 59 in a couple weeks and so glad I have changed my eating habits. Life changing.
Hi thank you for your help in understanding the fasting I wondered if I can I do this keto diet, as I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago look forward to hearing from you
Hi Maria, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy! Anyway I just want to ask if you are a fan?
Its really east to understand what she is saying, straight to the point, and down to earth. I like it because the video is not too long besides it spoke about all the details that a person should know to start such a diet! Thank you humble Dr.
I love how simple you make this.
Agree
Yeap..
Hi 👋, how are you
Im doing the 20:4 for about 1 and a half month and it works great for me..
Soooo just sayin' Y'all stay safe out there 😁
P.S. I don't eat at night on fasting days because the research says that helps with insulin resistance.
I follow keto and get my potassium requirements from avocado.
She has a rather calm & soothing voice. Very informative and simple explanation. I'm now a sub.
So true. I ate from 12-8p and lost 20lbs in 3months last year, starting back up again doing 8-4p🤩 went from 170 to 147🤩 goal weight 140🤩 I don’t crave sugar anymore or constantly think about food
I do 20:5 fasting. I look absolutely fantastic 😁
Does your breath stink if you do this? And what do you do to prevent this?
You're looking great in this video, Dr. Gillaspy. And I appreciate your clear communication.
Just finishing up a 24 hour fast! It’s amazing how much less hungry I am than when I first started fasting a few months ago. Your body adapts
Hello please pardon me for intruding into your privacy! Anyway I just want to ask if you are a fan?
i've just lost 1,5 kg in 1 week ❤ 12-12 together with excercise
One week and 1,5kg tells you nothing, because it depends on salt/water/etc. in your body. 12-12 is not good enough and no real fasting - I did this for years and gained weight - now I do 20-4 to 22-2 with lowered carbs (no real low carb) and it works.
U r a great woman having ability what to talk and how to talk to the point. Thank
Tip 1: Change your mindset about food. Find a reason why you should fast daily.
Tell yourself: "I dont need food to be happy or active. I always feel better when i do not eat..." If you are a Christian then you can add this: "It helps curb my desires and gives me more time to think and pray"
Tip 2: Intermittent Fasting is a must do.
I am trying to get off sugars, I just have a sweet tooth and would love to do keto and intermittent fasting!
I found it easier to quit smoking then to quit auger but I have succeeded at both
Thank you so much for being clear and concise. All the other videos I have experienced can be a bit confusing. I am so glad I found you.

I just started 21:3 fasting I will let you all know how it works out. Currently I'm 230lbs. 5'2 I'm hoping to drop fast.
Most people are just jumping into intermittent fasting way too quick. It's a gradual process you need to implement over time, and the reason you are starving doing it, is because you have taken bigger leaps than your body can adapt to. 👊💥
Thanks for the heads up on trying the high-fat intermittent fasting regimen as an alternative to use periodically instead of water-only fasting.
I just reached the medium level already lost 50lbs

Hey how often do you exercise
Ss...easy to stick to.
I'm doing the 14/10 method , average about 3lbs a week
The medium option works great for me, I don’t have to worry about adding a few more carbs in my large meal at night (Veggie, nut/seed carbs). I believed in the past you needed to eat breakfast everyday but my body/mind say different so i’m pleased.
