      afilmdude what happened on Revolution exactly? Does anyone know! All they say is that a malfunction happened.

      @@Magicmountainguy We were just leaving and somebody told us that there was a malfunction on the Revolution. We looked over and the coaster was stopped at the top of the loop. People hanging upside down. They had to bring in a crane to get people to drop out of their seats. The bad thing that everyone was talking about was how fast it came to a sudden stop.

    Wow! Thank you for posting this! I am just curious, in this video they say that a safety control mechanism shut off completely,...was this the very same incident aboard the Revolution in which the anti rollback on the lift hill failed to keep a train from slipping backwards down the lift hill, giving riders a whiplash jolt? Revolution was a very pretty ride in those days! That sleek white steel track and those old trains with NO backrests! Gorgeous!

      I see your comment is 10 years old, but i wanted to reply. You are so right, the Revolution was BEAUTIFUL when it was new! Pure magic. And to this day, it remains my favorite roller of all time.

    Isn't this the same year that woman died on colossus?

    • @Trance_Kitsune
      @Trance_Kitsune 6 років тому +3

      It was creepy that the original track that caused that death was kept in place and they built over it to fix the hump problem. Too bad it's all gone forever now though.

      Yes! Carolina Flores passed away the day after Christmas 1978. I know it’s been over 4 decades but my heart still goes out to her family even after all these years. Her death is a constant reminder every time it’s brought up during any documentary about Magic Mountain and Colossus. I am sure they were happy to hear the news of its closure. However, my experience was nothing but pure unbridled joy! Colossus was the GOAT as far as I am concerned. Nothing will ever change that.

      @@Trance_Kitsunethey didn’t build over it! They reprofiled it. She was ejected after the second big drop. That speed hill at the bottom of the second drop and going up to the double up hill to the second turn used to be a lot taller. It was a camel back but after the accident it was reprofiled to a bunny hill, a speed bunny hill but it was a lot shorter and a lot less negative g force. It took you through that head chopper tunnel up into the double up hill. You might be thinking of the block brake they built over that double down camel back after that third drop. That’s not we’re she fell out. She fell out after the 2nd big drop where there used to be a camel back speed hill. I wish I could point out on an Ariel map

    There were a lot of problems with the park back then. After the Revolution was built it was breaking collar bones of smaller people sitting next to bigger people, less mass vs. more mass, after it came out of the tunnel. The track had to be fix to prevent the problem. The log ride would roll upside down at the bottom of the slide at the end of the ride. No one knew why.

      +Don K. Johnson what? roll upside down i hope there were no people on that log ride

      +Randall Pope, just a couple of families, they had to swim out. The loop was built 18 inches shorter than the track coming down to meet it. They had to break it down and weld 4 -18 inch segments to the loop base and built it again.

      Also, a gardener was killed during a test run of the coaster, hit him in the head.

    And they had just filmed the movie Rollercoaster (1977) where the final showdown was the Revolution ride 😬😰

    Was the other accident they were talking about Eagles flight?

    • @c4po705
      @c4po705 6 років тому

      The internet says that some witnesses saw them swinging the Eagle's Flight back and forth, it unhooked off the cable and one of them died. It probably was between Superman and Drop of Doom where they fell. I think it was in 1972 that the Monorail came down on a customer because a part wore out or maybe he got hit by a big mechanical part. Parts don't wear out anymore like that and everything is five times beyond strong enough. It was an innovative time and the Revolution was like taking big chances in those days but it has helped prove this science. The customers may have got a tad of whiplash on Revolution but it's a mild ride so they gave them a free ice cream and they called it even. The power cut off and it put the brakes on full stop. The braking systems are now completely different and infallible.

    This ride was only a couple years old, had a problem, but still stands today? Pretty amazing. I also found it funny as it was announced then that it was the "2nd largest steel roller coaster". HA, how far we have come.
