- At nearly 5000 feet, this 2015 RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction) Iron Horse conversion is the America's longest steel hybrid coaster. The former classic wooden coaster now stands 121 feet tall with an 80°, 128 foot drop that sends the coaster through a circuit that features two inversions, a top gun stall and zero-g roll, at speeds up to 57 mph.
You can also watch the Colossus on-ride POV video we posted to see what this thrilling coaster looked like before the conversion: • Colossus front seat on...
Six Flags Magic Mountain is located north of Los Angeles in Valencia, California.

It might sound lame and look lame, but this is one of the best coasters I ever been on. The drops are smooth and swift. The blue and green track inversions are really big hanging time. The seats don't mash hips together.
I went on July 3 and it was well worth the last day of my vacation (from pa). Worth skipping breakfast for. Worth getting up early. Worth the boring trip from Anaheim. Worth getting in early. Worth braving the stampede for early ride time. Well worth the day. One of the best rides ever
Jacob, you are totally correct on your statement.
Jacob Bacci don't forget about wicked cyclone
Jacob Bacci imo, I still think Twisted Colossus is the coolest and best RMC.
I know your comment was written before Steel Vengeance debuted this year but I'm sorry but "Steel Vengeance" at Cedar Point easily outdoes this hands down!!!
Wait, from Anaheim? It’s an hour trip from Culver City (Where I live) either to Disney or Six Flags. Wouldn’t that be a two hour trip your way?
i like how they did this coaster their giving you 2 different ride experience with out having to go through the line again
So freaking sweet
Loved the maniacal laughter throughout.
Hahaha I was thinking the same thing
dogwoodfan777 It was annoying as hell, smh. I don’t get how people can laugh on scary ass roller coasters lol. Then again, it might be out of nerves. But this got on my nerves 😂
Joss the laughing was indeed annoying. But I don’t get how people are scared on coasters either. You’re on a track and buckled in. If your life’s not in danger, why are you scared?
Missing Tourist You’re being sarcastic, right?
Caroline Anton Lol. Tell that to the poor young girls and guy who lost their legs on the Smiler at Alton Towers in the UK. Rides break down all the time. Yes, they’re safer than carnival rides and cars on the road. But that doesn’t mean shit can’t happen one day. It totally can.
The camera makes the drop look so much less intense
dude fucking foreals was on it this sunday those drops dont play
Sav omg ikr
Ong tho
I went on that ride and legit after i got off i was shaking because the drops were so intense.
I've only been to six flags once and when I first went on this ride some girl was in the row in front of me and during the loop you just see a black rectangle thing and when the ride was over the girl was looking all around for it and I told her that I saw it fly out
This roller coaster is an absolute masterpiece. Looks innocent from the outside but crazy once you’re on it. The prettiest one in the park too.
it’s such a fun ride. one of the best 🥹
I have never underestimated a ride SO MUCH. This ride might seem lame and plain, BUT BOY the first drop was so crazy. This is an AMAZING ride.
agreed
Omg foreals
so good
exactly 😭😭
This was the first rollercoaster I went on. I was so damn scared of this ride at first! the drop was way too steep it made my stomach hurt, but I got used to it, and ended up going on it 10 times! It doesn’t even feel like you’re upside down when you go on it. Its faster than it looks! 👏🏼 Best ride ever.
did you even go on anything else? lol
I only got to ride it once because it was down nearly everyday I went to MM
The one day it was open a train got stuck at the top of the lift hill while I was boarding the next train and I was trapped at the station for 45 minutes and they didn't even give a free food voucher or anything
We don’t believe you lol but okay 👌🏽
@@DooneyfromEastATL why?
This was my first as well! It’s a wild ride lol
Where do I start.... First I thought this was two coasters side by side taking up little space in the park. Then I thought the two would race each other to a Finnish line. Then when I saw the blue paint go green thinking 2x up the main hill.... So cool.
same here!!! hahaha i went this past tuesday agugust 6th
Its amazing
It used to be 2 coasters
Same
Same lol I almost passed out when I saw that we were riding the green track too.
Goliath was my favorite ride in the park until I rode this. I love the little bumps in the beginning and the fact that you get to the ride twice essentially on both sections of track is so fun. I can ride this ride forever and never get bored of it. I also love that first drop on the lift hill and the hangtime upside down on the green track. I also was lucky enough to race with the train, which brings me to the point about how I like they slow the chain down for the 2nd portion so the first train can catch up to us and race us. Phenomenal ride. :D
GamingFanactic911 yeah I liked Goliath also until I rode this
Jonny B they shouldn’t have removed dueling dragons that ride was good they should have removed Hollywood rip ride rockit
The drop gets me every time on twisted
Same her
I only went on Goliath and twisted collusus
I couldn't stand the drop. I felt like I was about to fall out. However, the drop is the reason why I love the coaster so much. Btw this is WAY better than Colossus
Sat in the back...almost died
Jeremy Ayala back row is so amazing is called airtime and it’s perfectly safe
Jeremy Ayala Lol GP
That feeling you get is called airtime, and it’s nothing compared to my problem, I’m 6’3 and I always feel like ima get decapitated so I duck lol.
Digital Electronic Creative key words “I feel like”.
God i rode this ride and the drop seems like forever
It's not even that tall
@Jitter Fr it feels forever but it’s not even that tall, it’s just the angle that you feel like you would fall out of the seats if your shirt but you don’t yk? 🤭😎🤷🏽♀️
@@BUNNY-dq6to bro im short and i was holding on for dear life😭🤟🏼
If you want a drop that lasts forever then ride Millennium at Cedar Point 😄
I know right!
Every time I'm on this ride I feel like I'm going to get decapitated cause I'm 6'5
I'm 6'5 as well and I ducked for all the parts where it goes into the track. It was fun as hell but definitely not without concern for taller passengers
Facts. I’m 6’3 lmao
Klutzy Bee haha, my brother has similar problems, some rides have heigh restrictions about being tall, so everytime we go on them he slouches when we’re walking past staff 😂
SAME
YES
The drop is VERY intense. Not as high as Goliath of course but feels a lot more steep. I love Twisted Colossus.
Yes that drop is intense
Just goes to show tall dose not equal a fantastic ride
Good to know.
Iron gwazi's drop though 💀
I rode this on front row and it duelled on the blue track sections with the other train. It was simply amazing. I live in the UK and despite the long flight, this ride was completely worth it. It's smooth and the inversions are perfect, the top gun stall especially is good hang time but doesn't spoil the pace. My number one ride, Twisted Colossus :3 Really hope I get to ride again in future.
Sam Williamson
Sam Williamson I 100% agree. It was a 5 day drive and the racing aspect is amazing. The Zero G Roll is very whippy and that airtime hill under the top gun stall gives amazing ejector. This remains my #1 coaster.
@@coasterdog2593 what about X2
Today i learned that this is Tyler, the Creator's favorite coaster
anonymous5401 interesting
went to six flags
Diego Rodríguez six *** came up and and said “Ayo, can we get a pic?” I said no.
so
it was colossus not twisted colossus
I don’t think you can tell through the video how aggressive this ride really is. Actually riding this ride is really, really bonkers and extremely unique. The way the ride rapidly throws you from side to side and the unexpected and bizarre loop combined with the drops where I swear you are lifted from your seat (honestly I think this ride does need tighter/better restraints, you move around in your seat a lot). I’ve never been on roller coaster like this.
the sensation of lifting off your seat is called airtime, quite an awesome experience!
i pulled my lap bat so tight i didn’t move at all but at the end of the ride my thighs n hips hurt so bad 😩
I need to pull my lap belt tighter next time because sitting in the back of the ride, I was out of my seat the entire ride. Scariest ride of my life!
In the morning it’s a bit slower, but later in the day at night it’s fuckin amazing.
Just went on this today. Best ride at park. You get whipped through the inversion and hills so hard. The ride is built around giving you tons of hangtime and airtime. You constantly feel yourself being whipped downward by the small lap bar. Worth the wait for sure.
I was like "this doesn't seem so bad" and then the video continued.
I fucking swear i got off this ride like 6 hours ago and I was practically levitating on this thing.
smolcamelllamma I was there a couple of hours ago and went on the ride. I got motion sickness and I have a headache. Other than that it was a fun ride.
smolcamelllamma btw I was like u with the levitating thing
it's called airtime it happens when you hit negative gravity
Its awesome, airtime is safe, don't worry.
I love air time
I remember going in this with my friend. I felt so sick after the first lap, and my friend said that the look on my face after seeing that we were going again was priceless.
haha love that evil laugh when the first drop comes!
Leigh-Ann H that laugh sounds like my dads
That twisty upside down turn at 3:25 was actually an amazing cool feeling. This ride and full throttle best rides at six flags! Love how unique they were
zero g stall
I have health issues that prevent me from riding roller-coasters, which I enjoy. So this POV vids are fun for me to watch even if it's not the same as actually being on one. So thanks for posting!
I love that both sides are one track so you get to enjoy the whole ride without having to wait in line twice
Legend has it he is still saying "he he he" till this day
This is my favorite ride in six flags magic mountain
CaptainSnappyGaming sameeees
CaptainSnappyGaming same
I loved this coaster. Had lots of ejector airtime crammed in this one ride. You even get to ride it twice!
I remember I was going there because it look not scary but when I was there I like oh no then second time not again
I was holding on for life UP SIDE DOWN
Lmao. That's how I felt. But was worth it. Also it feels you did two laps making the time and money worth it.
Same
The GP is strong with this one
my older brother dragged me on this ride and it was horrifying i only agreed because it looked not scary but when it hangs you it feels the worse so in conclusion
I feel your pain
A backseat ride on this is insane!
The back seat is always better (IMHO) . The front is a good portion down the hill before it attains full speed, the back is accelerating Hard as it crests the peak so, in effect, it is travelling faster down the hill.
When this races, it's a 10/10 world-class coaster that I can't stop laughing the entire time like the guy in this video.
When it doesn't duel, it's still a good coaster; just not quite AS good. 9/10
Last time I went, it was a slow day, and the ride ops were actually being really quick. I got to ride it 5 times in a row with no line, and got 4 dueling rides out of those 5. That was an unbelievable experience.
HOWEVER: I do wish this ride would do what the new coaster West Coast Racers is doing: I wish on the second time around, it would just stop at the chain lift until the other side came around, then they go up at the same speed. That would eliminate all the variables and make sure it duels 10/10 times, thus making it a bona-fide world-class coaster. It just doesn't make sense to have an unbelievable dueling RMC like this duel maybe 25% of the time, if you're lucky.
We I go on it we typically don't race :(
Just went on this for the first time this morning and got a race on both rounds. It's the only RMC I've ever been on, but it's now easily my favorite coaster. This thing is relentless!
Amazing coaster. Must watch again and again to see the blue/green swap.
And this is CLEARLY one of those coaster where you want to be in the last row.
When I heard they were closing OG colossus back in the day, I had no idea they would keep it's spirit alive and turn it into something way more amazing than expected! Mobius coasters are seriously the best
This was way more intense than I thought when I got on
I agree .
Twisted Colossus.......AT NIGHT!!!!!! THE BEST DAYMN EXPERIENCE YOU'LL EVER HAVE........HAAAAAANNDS UP!!!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Sean Lewis 💯
I beg to differ, Full throttle at night is dope af.
BubbleArcadia tasty at night>>>
100%
@@BubbleArcadia Hey, ALL coasters @ Magic Mountain are dope, @ night
After riding Twisted Colossus the video does not do it justice as to how intense the ride is.
I was just about to comment this! It was the first ride I went on and it was the most intense out of all the other 11 rides I went on. I wasn’t ready for those drops 😂
I’m madly afraid of heights , but this ride gives you adrenaline without going super high. My fav ride
I'm afraid of a ferris wheel but love the tallest roller coasters. Doesn't make much sense to a lot of people but I love it! 😄
@@AdamSVwc OMG I’m the exact same! 😂 I can do rides like X2 and cannibal, yet when I go on a tall Ferris wheel I’m sweating balls
All my friends were hyping me up about how incredible X2 is, but honestly Twisted is the ride I remember the most from recent visit to magic mountain. Such a fun and chaotic ride, probably one of, if not the, most fun and wild roller coasters I've ever been on
That drop is seriously intense
I loved the original Colossus, but this one seems so much better! Definitely my favorite park while living out there!
the drop is steep
yes
Aren’t you the guy that threw Taylor in the trash
Still can't believe I choose this for my first roller coaster, did I regret it? Absolutely not! It was amazing even though it scared the shit out of me.
A great first coaster choice
This was also my first and the first drop was insane! I’m afraid of heights so it terrified me lol
My dad put me on this ride because he thought that it was still the original colossus when i was 7. And that is how you become a coaster enthusiast.
LOL
Haha. I love this. My 7 year old got on this yesterday and now cannot wait until he’s tall enough for the other rides!
This coaster is so underrated !!! It might not look cool, but once you ride it, you're gonna wanna do it again !
God, I'm dying from this audio-
All the women on the ride: **screeching in relentless fear*
That one dude: **maniacal laughter intensifies*
This is by far one of the best roller coasters I have ever been on! I love the reboot of the classic colossus
I went on this ride and it kicked my ass. I wont be riding again unfortunately. The new west coast roller coaster there was fantastic and had better restraints.
Best fucking ride ever.
Do not be scared, trust me - the first drop, (you 100% feel it) but it is not scary or too intense. Just really fun. Trust me, ride this, it’s an amazing coaster. Put your hands up, your gonna love it :)
I like how you enjoy the ride twice. First if you on the blue side then it turn green if you on the green side then it turn blue extra 😎
This was the first coaster I rode at grad night. Wonderful way to start off the night! My friend (who had never rode a roller coaster in her whole life) thought the opposite...She almost lost her mind when we switched tracks. I stayed off some rides with her just because I felt horrible for scarring her mind.
Wait grad nite is also hosted at 6 flags? Usually it’s hosted either Disneyland or universal
I got to duel the first time I rode this and had no wait!
A whole new take on an old classic.
But classic colossus lift Hill sounded Better:)
I always get excited when I see a non mounted coasterforce pov ! Great stuff as always :D
I usually don't see you anywhere else but your videos.
I hate it when its a non mounted video because they always shake around alot and its really annoying
Big Money Bogdanoff Jerry (East Coast General) has an incredibly steady hand, better than most out there. I'm a big fan of his work.
James C yeah and in the mounted povs that rattle noise really bothers me
You get incredible amounts of air time in this ride than any coaster in the park.
Escor[io you do and X2 more g force
@@timothywait9457 yes but Tatsu's loop is forceful.
I remember the old colossus where it was late in the evening and the park was about to close and we just kept riding it over and over because there were no lines and the ride operator was at the end of his shift. We rode like eight times in a row. I haven't been back to Six Flags in a long time. There is a new Revolution and Twisted Colossus now. Looks fun. Also, afterward, we went over to Goliath and rode that three times in a row.
I love that guy's laugh.
I was thinking the same thing. It's so cringy LOL!
looks boring but it's actually one of the best rides ever and it's my favorite even tho there are bigger and faster rides at the park, idk it's just great i love it
I hardly feel butterflies on coasters because I’ve been desensitized, this one brought those feelings back
Wow never seen one with two tracks that allow you to slow climb twice. And wow sometimes I really feel like people are going to hit those poles that seem to come within a hairs breadth of the the coaster carriages
I rode the original colossus once and I do have to say this was a massive upgrade
I sat on this today! Front row! Loved it! And agree with the others, the drops are actually very intense IRL.
This is one of the best rides of all time. Super smooth and fun to ride!
Really good video.
I didn't even notice that the track changed color, I had to re-watch. Absolutely genius
This ride flows in a way that I haven't felt in any other rollercoaster.
That 180 stall tho 🤩
This puppy has EVERYTHING
The Drop in the beginning seems like nothing. But let me tell you!!! The drop is 80 degrees! A normal wall in a house is 90 degrees! So when you drop it feels like you’re gonna fly off!!! My Favorite Rollercoaster at Six Flags!
The drop was really scary i rode it in friday
This roller coaster looks like SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL for anyone who hasn’t been on this ride before it is higher than it looks
i love the sweet little wave from the other cart as she plunges to her accepted fate.
The best place to sit on this ride is the very back because you get pulled over every hill and turn with such a force that it feels like you’re getting thrown over!! It’s amazing!! 🤣Such good times!!! I can’t wait to go back.
You mean you get better airtime in the back.
When u watch the vid the drop doesn’t even look intense until u do it in real life it makes it look u like your flying
This ride is amazing, just went on it 3 times today.
Met a guy who had been on this thing 700 times meanwhile it was my first. absolutely loved the insane ejector airtime on this thing + we had a good talk when we were getting dispatched from the station and going up the lift hills
I love talking to other thoosies on rides
The fact this is a considered a low-mid tier rmc just tells you how amazing all of rmc's coasters are
Next week (12/19/22) will be my first time on Twisted Colossus. I've been on several RMCs and this definitely _appears_ to be the most un-creative, gentle, and possibly least exciting of them all. I hope I'm wrong, but I rarely hear rave reviews of this one from fellow coaster hobbyists. As a wood coaster guy I'm going mainly for Apocalypse, The Ride, but even though I'm not super-into steel coasters I do look forward to any RMC I've not ridden. Fantastic video!
Just wait
It’s today
@@Tails104 Trip is running behind schedule since I got "trapped" in Wyoming by the blizzard & spent some time in the Columbia River Gorge area. Tomorrow is Great America, Thursday Santa Cruz & Friday I'll be at either Knotts or Magic Mountain. I might save Magic Mountain for Christmas Day since crowd might be light. I'll also spend a day at Mission Beach riding Giant Dipper.
I want an update! Also, how is the park in general? How does it compare to Cedar Point?
@@chuckface06 My trip is behind schedule. Read above.
They seem to make a half-assed attempt to hold the green track train for the blue, but then they send it off early, making the whole thing a bit pointless.
Welcome to Six Flags!
InsaneCoasterFreak They also like to keep people waiting in line for hours while running one of 2 or 3 trains on a ride.
make that ONE train for some of the rides... good thing the rides are so awesome or nobody would come here haha.
Ben I waited 2 1/2 hours for X, only to have them put a second train on the track when I was 3 circuits from getting on. That took another half hour.
+Docktor Jim that is pretty rare I have never seen only one on x2 that would suck. today there are two but it is a pretty busy day.
I honestly think this is the best POV of Twisted Colossus, of the ones I've seen at least.
We love this ride so much. Greetings from Calgary!
Everyone else:*screaming*
The dude filming: ahaha ahaha
i am so bored so all of a sudden i remembered theme parks and how much i missed em so i saw this on my recommended and watched it. i still remember when i badly wanted to go on this but my parents wanted to eat dinner so i couldn't go and i felt like shit. i did go on a slightly smaller version of this at my home park tho and it was great
Glad they kept the classic through reincarnation. Can’t wait to see the brand new version of the National Lampoon’s Vacation Coaster someday
I love this ride!!! Great drop, and you basically get to go twice!!! This was my FIRST big roller coaster with an actual drop. LOVED IT😻😻
This was my second real coaster, the first being Goliath and it was intense! And by real I mean not Space Mountain or Matterhorn. I thought it went one time through and that was it, but no, I was laughing at how sick the ride was while on it, because I hadn't been on a ride with an inversion before. It was my first time at six flags, and I loved it!
I went last night for grad night and OH MY GOD this thing scared the living Jesus out of me😭 and then when I thought it was over it went again lol
I rode this when I was in 4th grade and loved it I wasn’t scared.
@@a_cowwithlegs wow, you're so special.
Sunny Vega LOL 🤣🤣🤣
Omg I’m going there for grad night too was it really that scary? I’m scared too
This roller coaster is crazy good and is now my favorite at Magic Mountain !!! ❤❤❤
Not many coasters are worth the wait, but if you have time to ride only one, make sure it's this one!!!! So much different than the original. I thought it would be a smoother, faster rendition of the original. Great improvement on the backbone of a classic!!!
Back in the 80's we rode this backwards.
Yup they still did that 8 years ago on the old one , on Halloween.
Good times. I miss the old wooden ear piercing friend, but I can understand the change. I still have my fond memories to fall back on. :)
bro i swear to god on the upside down part i saw my penny fly out of my pocket and float in front of my face in slow motion. most epic thing ever
That sounds so dope lol
My current favorite at Magic Mountain. Member pass holder in ride this at least once a month and it still gives me chills. This video doesn't do it justice, you have to ride it.
All of your videos help me for my first time at Six Flags
Great RMC!
I agree!
Can’t wait to ride this next week! Looks like one of RMC’s best!
I seriously thought the drop would feel fine when watching this video but once I got to experience the drop I literally wanted to get off and then when we went a second time I was all like “I don’t wanna do this!” But once I did it I was so glad and this became my favorite ride.
Love it but the drop looks a lot steeper then the video and it is the smoothest ride I've ever been on
I was so excited for this ride because it was the most popular. I got on it and HATED IT. It was so rough and bumpy I couldn’t even enjoy anything. My personal favorite there is Superman and lex Luther. This is definitely on the bottom. But that’s just my opinion :)
Sienna Austin rough? It’s smooth as butter
Taylor Spaulding hmm? Maybe it was just a bad day when I went on it because it definitely was not as smooth as butter. I’ll have to give it a second go !
Yeah I don't get why people say RMC's are "as smooth as butter" the trains are mega-cramped and there's no padding anywhere really, and the lapbar breaks your legs on every hill. The new lighter trains are a little better but gg was twisted cyclone as six flags over georgia THE WORST. GCI and Gravity Group make trains with great padding and restraint systems and now that both are in on inversions maybe RMC can take a back seat and let the pro's do the real good work. Mine Blower at any point is 1000x better than even the best "parts" of twisted cyclone (so the wave turn), as is Mystic Timbers or well pick any GCI that isn't Invadr or Wildcat or stick to the praised ones destroy these kinds of coasters. Intamin pre-fabs are just as bad, I wish they'd do something with El Toro, has the same issues minus the inversions (not that everything needs inversions but i'd take goliath at sfgreatamerica over it for being a bit smoother with the topper and the inversions even if it breaks your legs twice).
This is my fav ride of all time. My advice when you get to six flags is ride this ride, and get back in line and ride it again
These tracks look amazing!
The lady screaming sounds like Dory lol.
