While some of these many people, other watches on this list may be out of the public eye. Many people know Rolex, but do all look at and consider Richard Mille watches? Nonetheless, these in demand and hot watches are all great examples of the status of the watch market today.

Recently started following your channel. Love your refreshing approach reinforcing that these things aren't investments, but you shouldn't try to lose a crap ton of money when getting watches. Very unlike the fancy watchfinder channel that basically should be classified as advertisements.
RM is a perfect example how market geniuses make outstanding profit.
2022 I think most states now make online retailer pay taxes. So even if a consumer buys from online, they will be paying taxes.
Royal Oak Jumbo would probably be the safest watch long term as its production is much lower than 5711 and less marketing has gone into it. The demand is far more genuine and based on people's real feelings towards the watch rather than false publicity.
I would agree, but from my own personal experience AP boutiques are far more arrogant than Patek ones. I love the Royal Oak Jumbo but the attitude at the boutique has dumped it to the bottom of my list. I would love a mid 2000 with the designed rotor!

I purchased a black Daytona within last 2 months and wanted to see what Greys would offer -- I had three offers: $19K, $19K, and $19,,200. I didn't sell but wanted to investigate "fire sale price."
I still see the BB GMT around 4.5K preowned. I hope you are right. 🙂.

You completely skipped over AP’ royal oak Skeleton that sells way over list. Msrp is 75k, after market is 120k plus
Man, I hate the whole idea of people buying watches for the sole purpose of just selling it.
Biggest gain I have ever got was actually on a seiko, sold my scve003 which has rrp of around 250gb for 2000 gb.

Very interesting video. I have a Rolex Sub with date 1999 and a Datejust 1965. My dream watch will be A. Lange & Sohne! Are they trading higher than retail? I do not care, why? I am a watch or what I call a Wrist Art lover! A. Lange & Sohne is considered the German Patek Philippe! I admire beauty and craftsmanship for what it is truly meant to be in my eyes!

Some brands like PP will never crash, but when this bubble pops, there are going to be some watch hipsters hurting financially. Some mushroom brands will be almost worthless.

This trend is overhyped and not healthy for individual private buyers. AD can sell at the demanded price, but as a private individual seller, you will not get anyone willing to risk that much money on you.
Lets see if I get the advice: Buy a hulk in the AD and sell it in the grey market. Whow... how come I haven't thought about it. Brilliant... Maybe We can ad some GMT to the same idea!
If I took the links out of a new Rolex and then replaced them, could you detect that?
Yes, likely, may need magnification. There would be tiny scratches in the sizing screws and the compound that "locks" the screw in would have fallen out.
The patek AD I went to wold not sell me the watch sealed. It’s the some place where the RM AD is.

It's a little bit sad, that the "watch-people" more and more create content about the same topics, instead of getting over it and show other watches and ways to collect. But I guess, you have to grow your channel, because it's a buiness right? And if this is, what you audience is asking for... well, then you have to deliver if course. Great point. And very true, but I think John was trying to show watches that have appreciated in value. And to go from $19k to $38k is a nice chunk of change. His point still rings true. We can all hope that prices will continue to fall back to the “regular” collector levels.
MonkeySeeProduction Totally agree the increase is substantial even in the mid-$30s! I still think the Aquanaut has the most room to fall back down to earth. It’s a lovely watch but I suspect the hype comes mostly from the fact that for mere mortals the Nautilus has become unattainable.

Sorry , but as a European, I don't order anything from America anymore. The last watch of 350 dollar cost me another 160 dollars in tax, import duties, advance commission and again 21% BTW[ European taxes]. And now another $20 fuel surcharge. For a 250 gram package. Most of the watches on this list I cannot afford, so I admire from afar. Though if we are talking real artistry, history, and value then let's go to the independents, such as Daniels, Dufour, Gauthier, or Smith. Some of the aforementioned companies cannot touch these artists. All perspective. 🥃
