- If there’s a word we hear all too often in the context of watches these days, it’s investment. A ballooning market, product scarcity and a boat load of hype has made watches that used to be readily available-and affordable-out of reach for the vast majority of us. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get in on that action, because there are still a few more affordable watches that just might be worth hopping in at the ground floor on.

Problem with the Ferrari is people will think you bought it as a TK Maxx special.
Crazy-88s This. Outside of the car world, Ferrari have cheapened their brand by splashing on loads of mainstream products, including £10 polo shirts in TK Max, as you suggest.

I'm a Paneristi but that Ferrari Panerai is a dud, not even Panerai collectors want to buy that. Watches aren't investments btw, but if you want a Panerai that hold its value quite well get a bronzo.

The back of the H. Moser & Cie is more engrossing than the face.
I think any watch that has the name Ferrari on it is cursed to fail as history shows. However H. Moser is an incredible value at the moment and one would be foolish to think it will last forever.
One simple change could have made a big difference: leave the horse, replace the Ferrari name with Panerai - done deal.
Ferrari collaborations are toxic, don’t sell, not wanted and the height of tackiness.
Problem with Ferrari branded products is their price range. Consumer electronics, shoes, even watches shouldn't exceed monthly allowance of a 10 year old, their target audience.

“Investors” are rotting the market for real watches lovers.... Because of them the prices get bloated sending those timepieces in the non affordable world... and I really don’t appreciate that...

Unfortunately now that we’re living in the CV-19 era, there will be a lot more watches available to invest in because the demand will inevitably go down as money gets tight.
Depends on how long this pandemic lasts, if it's gone within the next 2-3 months I reckon the economic recovery would be pretty quick, but if this goes on for another 6 months or more then we could potentially be in a depression with tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of jobs lost
If we want to get morbid, people will likely want to sell the watches left behind by elderly victims of the virus.
@@lettuce1305 I'm thinking that "hundreds of millions of jobs lost" isn't likely in a country of only 320M people. And the lockdowns aren't going to be allowed to go on for another 6 months. Not for an illness that apparently only very rarely kills anyone who doesn't already have one foot in the grave.

I've been thinking recently that when making predictions like this, I always seem to err on the side of my belief that the public isn't nearly as stupid as it proves itself to be time and time again. :)

Overrated
Why overrated? It’s a unique-looking dress watch that has a great movement, and doesn’t cost as much as a similar Patek Phillipe. I won’t say the finishing is as good as a Patek, but I’d argue that Patek and its sky-high price tags is far more overrated than h moser.
Don’t worry, I can’t afford them either. I have a cadisen dress watch! $38 shipped from China (at the time of purchase), seiko nh36, sapphire crystal. But I think that people who cannot afford something can still contribute to a discussion about it and whether it’s good or not. I don’t mind an Invicta pro diver, I like it for what it is. What I don’t like is when companies overprice watches based on brand name. Though I wouldn’t mind another watch...
I always see people diss Moser , but when asked why they tend to hide silently in the darkest corner of the room without giving any concrete reasons .

The true investment pieces will be fine as they’re in the hands of those who will be rich whatever happens to the economy. The faux investment pieces, i.e mass produced steel sports models, are about to tank though.
If you bought steel sports Rolex or Patek at RRP you'll be fine but if you bought it at inflated prices in the grey market, you can really lose money if the situation gets worse.

I really like the elegance and simplicity of the face of that H. Moser & Cie, and the contrast of the filigree-like busyness of the back. My own "realistic" ambition is to own a Bremont at some point, but I would be very happy to find myself at a point in life where I can spend £9k on something that nice.

The Tudor would have been really nice if not for that TIGER writing. Looks funny that way (a deal breaker for me, as if I have the money anyway haha). Otherwise, a really nice watch.
There are some that are pre tiger, so it does not have the word tiger on dial, those are the true gems. I have one.
Those dials carry the fancy word TIGER doesnt hold the great value though remember his time only

@@gasmaskdude2687 These brands are affordable because they copy designs. They are basically well produced fashion watches without any heritage or luxury value. I am glad these companies are on the market to give people with a smaller budget to get the designs they like, but they are not related to the luxury watch market.

It’s really more accurate to say that the movement in the Tudor Tiger is a Valjoux rather than ETA. It’s a Valjoux 7750 in the Tudor.

As of recent I have been facing a problem, that is: I am unable to change first digit of date in my Breitling for Bentley Tourbilon edition.
When I press date adjustor button then it changes second digit from 0 to 9 in sequential order, when it is at 9 and I press button then second digit changes to 0 and first digit stays fixed at 2.
I have also tried changing date by turning crown, but that has also been vain
Before approaching dealership I wanted to take your advice on whether can I rectify it myself, if yes then how?

Better investment perhaps the vintage omega constellation pie pans in guilloche or black dial, or vintage seamaster divers, or vintage speedmasters. Affordable now, expensive then...
Vintage Speedys and seamaster 300 aren't that affordable anymore, I still remember the days when Cal 321 Speedy was just 3-4k usd before the Hodinkee shills
@@lettuce1305 i mean... It was part of the affordable investment that gone crazy nowadays. That's literally the point tho 😜. Though you could still find ones that are below or waay below the market price, the value would be up there in the years to come. For example back in 2015 I got omega constellation c shape ref 168. 029, white dial, steel case, white gold bezel, day date. Bought it for about 300usd, serviced it myself then proceed to wear it for almost four year till I separated with it. Sold for about 1400 usd last year. And that's a steal considering the condition is immaculate. You could check em out on my IG @uhrkenner
