Hey angels happy Tuesday! It's a longggg call but definitely fascinating to dissect how young living leaders push live events and what happens. Also it's freezing where I live. Expecting some major snow lol. How's your guys's weather??
Michigan had been depressingly warm for months D: It's barely been below freezing. it's usually in the teens Fahrenheit in December. We'd love your snow over here.
Last week was the pits in the UK, i work 3 jobs and cycle 10 miles a day and it scares the shit out of me I'm gonna slip when it's frozen😱 This week it's dry and not as cold and I'm in a constant state of appreciation 😍
I was once in the top 1% of this company (I used to think that was a flex), but I still lost money in the end. I was at silver rank trying hard for gold, which is what they say to strive for. I lost thousands of dollars being a “product of the product” aka a customer, traveling to conventions and all the expenses that went along with that, incentive gifts & “happy mail”, website subscriptions, vendor events, etc. It makes me sick that I was so blind for so many years.
I do believe that all these conventions are a way for mlm's executives to take even more money from people, than what they are already being pressured to spend "stocking". Also, have you guys seen videos about Gary Young? The crimes and lies litering his whole career, I believe his essential oils arent made with clients' well-being in mind. He just reinvented snake oil imo.
When I was a grad student one of our faculty teachers invited all the grad students for a “pajama/spa night party” at her place. We all agreed because we thought it was an opportunity to bond and get to know each other. Little did we know it was a Mary Kay party! We felt trapped and had to listen to the whole thing for hours. That was the moment I started really disliking MLMs
Omg this happened to me twice in undergrad. Once a girl invited us to her dorm for spa night. Another time was a sorority event. Really praying on the poor college kids.
Oh my. My “upline” was on that call. As of yesterday and due to the video you shared of that woman sharing her experience, I have closed my YL account. I had it just for the discount (never sold, never recruited) but I realized even doing that I could not support a company that is so appallingly unethical.
Did you use and get value from any of the products? If so, have you found a good replacement for said product? I have had amazing results with Sulferzyme (the powder, not the pills) and I can not find anything similar to it anywhere else 😩 It's the only thing I get, but I need it.
These ladies definitely know what they are doing. I think everything they are saying/teaching makes a lot of sense for people who are in the cult and sold a dream. They have done this for so long they make it seem very doable.
I’ve never worked at a job where they forced me to buy stuff from them. I worked at LUSH, and we had to be knowledgeable about pretty much every product we sold but they would send us home with samples, give us free gift boxes when holiday collections came out, etc. These people are scammers and it’s so sad that people get roped into this and think it’s normal.
Right? I worked for a retail company that gave us enormous discounts on clothes but never *required* us to purchase anything to work there. Every time our lingerie line launched a new bra, we all got a free one so we could try it and speak to how it fit with customers. THAT’S how a business should run. Not by forcing its sales associates to purchase products in order to continue to make money 🙃
Being able to fail at something over and over again is a luxury. All of those "parties" whether to recruit or make sales cost REAL MONEY. My GUESS on Party Cost: Coconut oil & roller bottles: $32 Cheap wine(2 bottles of Stella): $24 Fruit Tray: $20 Essential Oil: $30 Total $106
Oh those essential oils are way more expensive. I would guess $200 in just eo’s that a host would buy to allow a group of people to use to make roller bottles. Plus you have to BUY the catalogs that guests can look through. Let alone any other sample or products the host wants to share.
Totally unrelated but at 11:07, the girl on the far left of the 4th row picks up her baby and it has clearly had a blowout in its onesie 💩🤣 the look on the girl’s face when she realizes it is priceless 😆
I love the tiny hand so much. I keep having to pause the video cause I’m cracking up whenever you point it at the camera 😂😂 Love you so much Isabella, hope you’re having a great holiday season!! 🥰
I wish I knew how many of these top leaders know they're scamming, and how many are oblivious. I know I have a tendency to put too much faith in people's ability to recognise abuse and scams, but holy shit, it's so hard to believe people can be this ignorant. My mom has been working for an extremely abusive (non MLM) company for nearly my entire life. she comes home crying every day, and still thinks it's her fault for not being understanding and forgiving enough to her boss. I really sympathise with children of hunbots. it's infuriating.
So excited for this! Feeling sick from my new oral cancer med and tired of holiday stress ….so I will sit with my heated blanket and watch! Thank you! ❤
I just realized I actually recognize the lady presenting because I’ve followed her for so long following her sweet girls cancer journey. I didn’t realize she was in an MLM too
I've watched a lot of these calls, why does everything always feel like a preamble and like I'm waiting for the presentation to begin? 7:12 Does this lady know what a night terror even is? 9:56 A little bit of a correction, the reason companies saturate you with exposure is so that you make an association. That way when you're for example in the market for car insurance, certain names will come to you. Others you will forget. When you think Hamburgers what is the first thing you think of?
Especially liked watching the lady in the lower left make dinner for her family during this very important business call. I was in an MLM, actually several, and I know it’s a racket to get the distributors to purchase the product.
"Not all chemicals are bad" -- as a professional chemist and someone who is irked by our chem-phobic society, this earned my subscription. I respect the research you do and am super appreciate how you've been using your business/marketing degree for Good. Fuck those MLM scammers!
What in the peer pressure happens at her events?! It's basically the equivalent of standing on a cliff and everyone jumping cuz they think the next person is jumping and the "brand partners helping" are the people pushing them off when they don't jump on their own
They know they can encourage brand partners to send samples because they have to place a 100 order each month anyways. So in that logic, it’s a “business expense” and they say you can write off any new products you buy. In their mind, spending a lot on a bottle to send samples will create a customer who will fall in love with & purchase that product each month. Which almost NEVER happens. So the person who wins in the end is the high rank diamonds with all the little people underneath working their tail off sending samples.
Generosity in their (MLM huns) business? Well, if generosity is so important, then YoungLiving should be sending out samples by the truckload, right? Oh wait…
I love essential oils and love buying them but a lot of people don't realise essential oils have shelf lives. And when we buy (or are encouraged to buy) more than we can use before the shelf lives, that can be a sustainable and safety issue.
When I was in doterra they would tell us to ignor the expiration date because the oils csnt go bad. It was just the evil FDA forcing them to put a date on the bottles 😅
I was watching this (well listening) while wrapping Christmas gifts and just looked over and noticed YOU edited yourself into the zoom call 😂🤣😂 I am cracking up. I love these anti-MLM videos
hun: i'm gonna get the mocktails going! :D me: mocktails??? D; i can have fun with my friends without booze. but i'm NOT sitting through an MLM pitch sober.
Before using a “non-aluminum” deodorant…the ones they advertise everywhere that’s “better for your body”, you are supposed to detox your armpits…I have no idea how to do it, but I’ve heard it on tv
Their scheming to force sign-ups only works if their participants are susceptible to peer pressure..... Little story of mine... I went to a "Pure Romance" party many years ago, to support a friend who was hosting. I bought a few things that actually sounded interesting....then the person used the whole "pull out your phone" tactic. I was just brutally honest & said I have no interest in joining....sure I will buy some items but I'm not joining lol I watched a few others say the same as me....I guess peer pressure helped them to AVOID, so it was a win!!!
@@IsabellaLanter it's in the "Dumb Stuff with Oils" section in episode three. Not only did she use it that way she lies to her husband that that's the intended use for it. So gross that she manipulated him that way.
What gets me about these people is their overwhelming disregard/disrespect for people's boundaries. If someone says "not now" or "I need to think about it," leave it at that. That's not your cue to whip out your phone or ipad to show them how easy it is to sign up... ugh
Beachbody/Bodi does the same thing. I have seen coaches "giving" $20 back if people purchase a total solutions pack, which is $150/$160. So that coach, instead of making $40 on total solutions pack, they make $20.
26:55 They ABSOLUTELY do market oils for putting on "things" for better libido and sensitivity. My memory is fading now (thank God), but I believe it was cedarwood for guys and orange-something for ladies. 🙄
I used to do parties with SweetLegs all the time and the hosts I would get are serial party hosts who are used to MLM parties. The host and attendees would always expect this big pitch and I was always like "here are the sizes, pick what you want and buy" lol cause it wasn't a MLM and I wasn't recruiting... always shocked everyone and that is sad.
That sweet couple has no idea what they’re getting into 💔 I was in the their position and felt like an idiot afterwards like wow. It makes you feel ashamed that you were easily manipulated
This completely defeats the purpose of being online. No one wants to keep having parties in their house. It’s not super duplicatable. They are getting desperate and going old school
That Ashley lady or whatever her name was is scary. She makes me think of those phone plan salesmen at Target that will follow you around to store to try and pressure you into switching to AT&T or whatever. Like, how does that work for her? I feel like most people would get scared and feel uncomfortable since you’re looking at them like dollar signs and not people
A skin care brand that made it very big on Tiktok during 2020 that I got into, I found out later on that they were using the Dream catcher oil in one of their products 😣 It smelled awful to me. Like that old lady perfume smell. Powdery and floral. Once I found that out I stopped buy the product. I have since stopped buying from them mostly in general for other reasons but that was so disappointing to find out. Many people posted in the brands pages about it super upset. I think they since changed the formula but still, ick!
i'm also assuming they aren't tied to indigenous cultural practices, so calling it "dream catcher" oil seems really ick for people who descended from colonizers to do.
I think - I’m HOPING, at least - what she’s referring to about Valentine’s Day is yes, a diffuser and possibly creating a massage oil - only for body parts that would not make a movie X-rated - with a little essential oils and a carrier oil. That’s what I’m really hoping she’s implying, at least.
Yeahhh me too but it’s unlikely considering we’ve seen them endorse and suggest ingesting essential oils in every way possible. Lots of these videos contain plenty of unsafe medical statements and boldly unsupported medical claims
Those top three chick's on this call are also paid to stay with the company. I know SO much about this because I was on their teams downline. I know a lot of the truth about this bs
9:34 that could be true but at the same time, this is also true: ⋆⋆the more a lie is repeated, the more people will believe it⋆⋆ That's a very simplified description of it, but it's been established in academia and has had a variety of different peer reviewed & published experiments conducted that consistently result in-- including those where there are variations on the specifics of the theory ("theory" in like, the scientific sense as opposed to how we use it colloquially) being focused on, what can be gleaned (which, yeah, is super unscientific but for the sake of concision-- which I am SO bad at!) from all this is the conclusion I summarized above (again, in a very simplified/abbreviated- but still true-- way) So, if we hold that the more a lie is repeated, the more likely we are to begin to believe it... How can you tell if that's not what's going on here? Like, honest question, how can you tell the difference? I mean, yeah, ofc we can look into claims and see if different ⋆REPUTABLE⋆ sources that don't have anything to do with one another, or at least don't have anything to gain one way or the other, but ideally not connected, are in agreement.. but just speaking about the example you (Isabella) gave, I don't know. I can't think of any way to be able to distinguish the difference without fkin WORK, like research n shz. I mean, if anyone has a trick they use or any suggestions, I'd love to hear em cause I get so overwhelmed whenever I need to buy... Iunno, almost anything! It's like a whole-ass really time consuming and HARD (for me) research endeavor that often has multiple tangents going into verifying if the source I'm looking at is or isn't bullsht! I have tons of unfinished "research projects" still with their own dedicated window with abooouuut 7 million tabs open that I... Well I don't want to say I've "given up" on them because denial is my go-to unhealthy coping mechanism, so I like to think of them as ongoing-- emotionally. But intellectually I know it was just too much for me and I just got overwhelmed, decided I didn't want/need whatever it was I was looking up and just dropped the whole thing. It's still hard to actually admit tho! Like typing it out, I kind of reeeaaally didn't want to. It hurts I guess, that something so seemingly simple can be too much for me to deal with. Man I don't even wanna scroll up and look at how long this got but I think I did mention how much I suck at being concise! So uh.. yeah, I guess maybe I've demonstrated that and um... I don't know how to end this so I need to just stop writing. Would really love any advice on that though! 🫶
You probably caught that, but the way she described not having to be pulled away from some person grabbing the aria kit to help some grandma who’s just trying to buy three oils is really gross. It just goes to show that they really just think of people as sales and not actual people and that three oil sale doesn’t mean anything to her and really she doesn’t appreciate it enough to be the one to help that grandma who’s trying to do something nice for her by buying.
You add essential oils to a carrier oil for a sensual massage. You don't need expensive oils. But really, how many couples are gonna do that? I've given a guy a back massage once in my life.
Great video as always, I was never a part of MLM but grew up kind of around them, so your videos are great for research! However, would it be possible to blur out the other zoom faces when you are reacting to a team call? The leaders are the ones to blame and the ones being out in the public, so being shown their faces is okay for me, but the other members of the call are just there and probably getting scammed and used because of their desperate situation.
I just watched a lenghty sales pitch--to the low level distributors. Buy more oils because because you have to try every product. Buy more oils so you can give out samples. Buy more oils so you can use them at in person parties. These people are well aware that their distributors are thier best customers. Maybe I will join Young living and start an "oil sharing" community. Anyone who has an oil that they don't use can donate it to the community and someone else can try it. Same with making free roller bottles, small samples, ect. That would really piss off the company and they high level leaders, ha ha ha. p.s. I forgot to log into Youtude under my name so this is going to be under my husband's account.
I was in YL for a while and the drink she’s talking about making smoothies with and stuff made me 💩 my brains out in the worst way. so yeah. crappy products. lol

I feel so bad for the young mom in the bottom left :(
I think - I’m HOPING, at least - what she’s referring to about Valentine’s Day is yes, a diffuser and possibly creating a massage oil - only for body parts that would not make a movie X-rated - with a little essential oils and a carrier oil.
She knew only two percent of the people bringing into her home. That sounds dodgy AF.
Those top three chick's on this call are also paid to stay with the company. I know SO much about this because I was on their teams downline. I know a lot of the truth about this bs
The title of this training “how to pay off and trick people to purchase my oils”
I've seen some shit on Zoom calls but this takes the cake... wow. So scammy YL.
Wow, she really said snake oils.
I really like the products but no selling for me
How much would the products in the bundles cost??
I believe it's a few hundred dollars to sign up with a kit... but it's been a while for me, though
Drinking Game Idea: Every time someone else is brought into frame on these cameras i.e. children, spouse.
I love chemicals tbh. Water is amazing.
Hahaha
9:34 that could be true but at the same time, this is also true:
⋆⋆the more a lie is repeated, the more people will believe it⋆⋆
That's a very simplified description of it, but it's been established in academia and has had a variety of different peer reviewed & published experiments conducted that consistently result in-- including those where there are variations on the specifics of the theory ("theory" in like, the scientific sense as opposed to how we use it colloquially) being focused on, what can be gleaned (which, yeah, is super unscientific but for the sake of concision-- which I am SO bad at!) from all this is the conclusion I summarized above (again, in a very simplified/abbreviated- but still true-- way)
So, if we hold that the more a lie is repeated, the more likely we are to begin to believe it...
Who allowed them to call it a Oily Wellness Night 😭😭😭
12 parties, i.e. recruitment sessions? How many friends do these people have?
This call should be titled “Manipulation”
Dreamcatcher? Smfh. Okkahy I guess it works. Cause being in YL is a phucking nightmare.
Oh, this is gonna be a rough video... all the constant throat clearing. Don't they have an oil for that?
Came here to say this!
Your tiny hand is soooo funny 😂 (nothing related to the content of your video, I know)
They have their kids in it and 1 woman has her husband even lol.
I was in YL for a while and the drink she’s talking about making smoothies with and stuff made me 💩 my brains out in the worst way. so yeah. crappy products. lol
The phrase is “6 degrees of separation” 😅
How many times can we say “all the things” 😂
I’ve never heard of the cash back!! Awful!
Oils in the bedroom....some use them as lube
Hahah, yea...
Basically this is here's how to waste your money time after time
And an open wifi... good grief.
