- How to Make Fallout Combat Armor out of Foam! I absolutely love the Fallout games and am very excited for the Amazon Fallout live action show series. So I figured it was about time I made some cosplay combat armor that others can create and enjoy. In this video I go over all of the steps it takes to assemble Fallout Chest Combat Armor. As well as how to cut, sand, and emboss the foam to look like leather and metal. I do have free PDF templates of the chest armor available on my website if you'd like to build one too.

Ahhhh!!! Fallout is my favorite game series, this is AMAZING! Thankyou for sharing your talent as always, I'm anxiously awaiting the paint vid!
You're welcome!
Oh wow, this is a fantastic piece of armour engineering Steve- brilliant work,& thank you so much for putting the templates out!🙏🏻 Can't wait to see the paint process, sir!🏆
You are very welcome!
I am loving this SO MUCH! There are only a few good tutorials on combat armor and yours is the best. Not even a competition.
I`m going to build the heck out of this thing.
Fantastic! have fun!
Man, endless possibilities with this design! Thanks for sharing Steve!!
You’re welcome! Have fun 🙌
Amazing! Can't wait to see the paint job. Before I would always try to find ways to cleverly hide nylon straps inside a cosplay, I dont know why i never thought to glue nylon behind the foam, so you still get the matching foam look but the strength of the nylon strap. Always learning new stuff from Steve!
Awesome glad I could help you out!
It looks GREAT at first sight 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome build, sir! Can't wait to see the painting video!
Thanks!
I've been playing this game just last week and you making this is so cool! I just might make this. Thanks for your videos
You’re welcome! 🙌
You're a godsend, Steve.
Can't wait to use your templates to make my own soon! Looking forward to part 2!
Awesome, thank you!
Great build as always. Hope you are feeling better and you are taking care of yourself.
Thank you! and i'm trying to do a more work / time off schedule
Yep my kid just told me that I have to make that for him to wear next year at Halloween! Great work as always, definitely the best paint job I have seen.
Thank you very much! And that’s awesome I’m sure he will have a great costume 🙌
CONGRATS on the 100k subscribers milestone!!!

That turned you great! I am really looking forward to your finishing video as well.

I woldnt believe this amor is made of foam if I didnt watch your video! Your technique is INSANE!
Thanks so much 😊
Amazing and informative as always!
Thanks Phil! 🙌
My grand daughter is getting into cosplay and I’ve purchased all your foam on Blick for Christmas I can’t wait to see what she does with it. I’m referring her to your channel too.

Thanks!
Amazing, i love your video, and i love Fallout, i cant wait for the next video !
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous looking Steve!
Thank you very much!
yes!
I’ve never thought to use a wood burner to burn away all my ugly cut-left overs.. dude you never cease to amaze
I love the fact that tricks I have used for years without thinking about it can really be a game changer to others!
The crafting portion looks great. I am intrigued that the paint portion is getting special treatment because I want to see how the rust is made.
Thanks! and part 2 will hopefully be out soon!
Love it I’d love too do a mandalorian mash up with this
That would be cool!
Genius! :)
Thanks! 🙌
Awesome, where were you when i needed templates, my fallout cosplay would have looked millions better if i had found you earlier, good build i must say well done🎉😅
HA! Thanks, I also hope to make a few more pieces for this set before the Fallout show airs 👍
Hey dude great build cant wait to do it myself was wondering if you were going to do the rest of the armour
I'll probably add more especially with season 2 getting the green light. I just like to jump around to different types of projects before I get burned out or bored
Wooooo is fantastic friend congratulation... 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🎉🎉👍👍😉😉😄😄
Thank you so much 😀
@SKS Props Thank you Steve for some rusty metal...I love doing rust on my props & playing FO76, say Hi if you see me & my wife slashing some scorched.
You're welcome!
Blew my mind in 2 minuets! I had no idea their was black hot glue!
and it is more resin based, nout usually a fan of hot glue but this version held pretty well
Yo! You should totally make Kenny from High on Life! I have been playing the heck out of it and it’s really fun, and funny too. Just figured I would throw this out here as a suggestion.
I saw a few things about that game it looked fun! I might have to check it out
@SKS Props You should! It has been a blast so far, if you are into Rick and Morty or just that style of humor, then it’s the game for you!
I am trying to convert my respirator and goggles into a power armor T51 helmet and I am learning a lot of different techniques from you. I still need to access the cartrages, and my goggles have different lenses( welding, etc) it been a challege.
Baddassery as always.
Thank you sir!
Fantastic work, as ever! My Sandman mask is coming along, but I've found that building stuff in this hobby takes a lot longer than you make it look. :)
I notice in this build there is a lot less contact cement and a lot more CA glue as the adhesive compared to some other I've seen you do. What determines when you use one glue over another? Is it just the need for flexibility? Looking forward to seeing the paint job on this, it look so real.
Thanks! I usually use super glue more than contact cement. Contact cement is used if the area I'm gluing is large or if it is an extrememly heavy wear pieve. Even then I usually with use both adheasives kind of my double adheasive method. Superglue is great for detail pieces, bonds fast, and keeps the build clean.
Hey Steve, I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to make a Pip-Boy from Fallout 4? I am working on a Fallout 4 OC cosplay, and I am using an altered version of this chest piece, but my character has a Pip-Boy and I am just starting out and this is my first time using your type of foam, so I am not confident enough to make it myself and not have a template to go off of. Just a thought.
I think it would also kind of make sense because you have these videos for the chest plate, and also the one for the Fallout 4 leather armor, so it would kind of go with the theme I think. Again, it is just a thought.
I love these videos by the way! They are very helpful!
(P.S. I loved your costume on Cosplay Melee!! That was the best by far on that whole episode and I too think that you deserved the win!! I am glad to see that you are sharing with us viewers how to do your foam/leather technique.)
First off thanks! At this point I don’t have any plans to make the pip boy but that might eventually change. Regardless with the live action in production and fallout 5 announced I’d assume spirit Halloween will bring them back again next year
First time being this early
Thank you for this, it really inspired me to make my own! With using a bandsaw to cut the foam, are there any issues with dust collection? Does it spit tiny pieces of foam everywhere or is that not an issue? I like the idea of perfect straight up and down cuts and being able to do those 20 and 30 degree cuts with ease, but I keep thinking about whether there will be dust.
The dust really isn’t any worse than wood or pvc chips. To keep my area cleaner I attach a plastic sack right underneath to catch any excess
Thanks to you I'm inspired to start cosplaying. Can I request for you to create headmask for upcoming anime Kaiju No.8 please?? It's gonna be a banger for 2024.🤩🤩
I'm going to follow your tutorial and make this armor. However, I might want to use sintra board instead of foam. Any tips?
Foam would be easier. Sintra won’t conform to your body and you only get one shot to heat form it. Believe me I know, my Dead Space suit rig was all sintra, wonderflex, and pvc board
What are your experiences with Ultra High Density foam? Are you able to shape it as well? I will be stocking up on your stuff in a few days. I can't wait. I think stuff made by cosplayers for cosplayers is awesome.
I’ve never really used anything ultra high density because it’s difficult to manipulate. Best used for straight props like swords, guns, shields
@@SKSProps hey thanks! That is what I needed to know.
Halo... I want to request that you please make a sogeking mask
Could you make the stun baton or suit from callisto protocol?
Haven’t played that one yet
I honestly thought 0:30 the chest plate was a image it's that good 😂
Thanks!!
Could you possibly do a tutorial on Kang the conqueror foam armor cosplay? Ant-Man Quantumania is out in February!!!
Hey Steven!! big fan of your channel and your art, question... how much till you make the mask from the inquisitor in "Tales of the Jedi" chapter 6???? hope we get that soon!! Good luck for you and happy hollidays!! greetings from México
Haven’t watched that one yet might have to check it out 🙌
@@SKSProps please!! Check it and amaze!!! I'm sure you gonna love it
What kind of foam are you using? It looks much more smooth and dense than the craft foam I buy.
It’s my own line I developed specifically for prop and costume fabrication. there are links to purchase in the description section
Could this be made with nylon straps to make it adjustable? What would your suggestion be?
Once you get it to fit you shouldn't need to adjust it. but honestly I'd say it's your build do what you want. especially since it is a post apoc landscape I don't think that it would matter to much if it wasn't 100%
@@SKSProps I’ve made one before (like yours better so I’m remaking it) and it doesn’t fit. Plus if I want to loan it out for photos adjustable seems they way to go
Can you make the t-60 helment
Some of my friends already did check tutorials on UA-cam
Will you be making more parts for this armor?
After I finish the paint video I might try to make the shoulder pads to go with the chest
@@SKSProps - Sounds great 🙂
Can you please do geralts sword from netflix series the witchrer 🥺
Check out my friend Odin Makes he made one on his channel
@@SKSProps ou okay i will check it 🙂
Can you make galgali mask from chainsaw man?
I hope in your next video you can make a KATANA DEVIL from chainsaw man
I'm the 669 like🤣
