Getting a rampage pro in the next day. Looks like I'll need to grease up the transmission first and add a gasket for the motor to keep debris out.
Thanks for posting this.
I used SUGRU to form a seal around the opening where the motor slides in. No more gap. Working great so far.
4:48 actually the inner gears on the differential are just greased, they don't come oil filled unfortunately. I could be wrong but mine came greased not oil filled.
Anyway awesome work my friend, takes me back. Can't believe it's been a while since I fixed my Outlaw Rampage pro kit. I could say proudly that it's still running strong ever since. ✌
Do you remember what size hex you used to open your Diff? I didn’t get to look inside because none of my tools fit those screws!
@@netcruzer : That I remember, I only used a 1.5mm and a 2.0mm hex drivers to unassemble the entire transmission.
I've heard that some manufacturers use a standard head (1/16" is a large 1.5mm) on a metric screw. Could this be the case?
Would you list the grease you used in the diff. The shot of the grease container was not in focus. Thsnks, CWB
very good tips, when I buy mine I will check this before running it. Greasing up the engine assembly seems a very wise thing to do
You just saved me a spur gear... thank you
WOW, I think with the gearcase sealed with a bead of grease and the motor disk it will be good... Only one spot I see from looking at it and it's probably one of the spots the sand gets in is the spot the motor slides through the plastic tube like pipe hole in the gearbox maybe you can go around the motor and that plastic parts edge it slips in with a small bead of shoe goo and seal around it with a bead of the glue... I think that's the spot it gets into the gearbox from? 👍 Nice video.
Yeah there are still holes stuff can get in thru that rear cover. Time will tell. I’ll open it up next time it fails. The motor can gets hot I don’t think I want to put goop around it.
@@netcruzer I did it before and it works...maybe go around it and seal it with those Mack's silicone ear plugs that should do it.👍
I was thinking of getting one of these so, good to know.
Cool, a lot of good tips in this video.
Great video and explanation. I was wondering are the transmission gears aside from the spur metal? hard to tell from looking. Thank you
Good advice on the motor plate to keep dirt out. Ill have to do that on mine.
Very helpful.
Very good job!
Great video and tips
How did the plastic gears hold up after this? I love the rampage but the plastic gears strip out every couple batteries lol (stock everything, brushed, not even full throttle) perhaps i got a bad axle housing, its usually the smaller 2 gears inside that strip, spur sometimes.
Does this version of the outlaw includes ball bearings at least ?
What's the blue motor plate you used? Thanks.
I’m not sure, but it might have came from an old Traxxas or Tamiya kit. I just had it lying around in my random parts.
@@netcruzer Thanks, I'll keep my eyes open on eBay.
Nice tutorial 👌 how about a moa delete instead?
any comments on broken stock kyosho servos? Either faulty or broken servo saver? I'm seeing multiple mentions online of servo failure, and am thinking about buying one w/ a broken servo to repair.
quality content!
So after about a year now, how has it held up? I've been thinking about buying one but I don't wanna regret it lol. But in all seriousness, how has it held up?
I’ve only driven it a couple times since, but yes no more problems so far.
@@netcruzer hmm, thanks for replying man. I'm gonna have to ask some other people too
Does your steering ever get stuck to one side?
good luck finding any parts for this or any kyosho. its slim to none. so be ready to improvise
Covid and no boats from china
If you do some research it tells that greasing plastic gears is counter productive
#1 taking out the whole transmission is easy
#2 there is an access cover to get to the pinion gear, so why are you complaining about not being able to set the mesh?
Because you have to move holes to adjustable slots on the mount. As new, they are in fixed position. Kyosho expects you to do basic cleaning, greasing and fitment of your model.
Only thing stopping me ordering this is the plastic gears 🤦🏻♂️
That's just really poor design.
Yeah... I think you and Basher Boi went thru this already but I was still shocked at how poorly thought out that transmission access is.
Did you ever have a grasshopper??? Stop complaining
