They want his power so they used the most diabolical way to get Denji to snap. The whole buildup with Denji being revered and being seen as a hero was leading up to this. He'll get over it but the fallout of what's to come will be what's interesting.

Nayuta was the only good thing to come out of all the suffering giving meaning to part one and a reason for denji to go on through suffering. if she is gone part one loses its meaning. you can't even go the rout of devil man with this as for that to happen it would have had to be Asa or Death that killed Nayuta. Denji's has no deeper motivation as a character any more. simpily suffering does not equate to good character motivation fuji him self knew this with how he wrote Agni in fire punch. Agni suffered horribly but always had the motivation to chase after fake Luna. Denji is either going to just give up totally or go the rout of Guts giving in to the beast of darkness. neither of these options are particularly appealing and there is still the issue that denji has no reason to save the world now he has more reasons to lead to its end if anything. Now there is the argument that Asa/ Yoru is the main character of part 2 and her motivation is to save denji. this may go some where. But it does not change the fact that this act damages part one. Furthermore Denji changed the rules of the contract when the apartment was burt down it no longer has to do with living a normal life it now has to do with being chainsaw man. most likely because of this no one is getting what they want in the next chapter. again I see it more likely that denji just totally shuts down and nothing happens. I could see fami taking over denji next chapter as he is starved of happiness but that doesn't give her control over pochita.
