God wish I had a trade instead of getting a degree. Wish they'd ran trade courses at my Uni. I would have done Anthropology and bricklaying. I'd charge 5000 quid for laying a few bricks in the morning and then read about Inuit women at night.

Presumably they also cemented in the telephone cable to avoid damaging it when they remove the temporary off centre step with a more robust and centred permanent construction.

When I was an apprentice brick layer I was taught not to tap on the level but to tap brick. Once you tap on an aluminum level it’s no longer accurate.

Great work, I would add though they are gonna pop loose. The open centers will allow a bounce in the tread. And the brick will freeze before the tread stone. Next time fill the cavities and get a perfect smooth layer then set the tread in fortified mastic. That will stay for 100 years.
