    I hope you will understand this to be the complement I want it to be. I probably would never attempt the work you show, except I feel as if I have Joe Pesci and the entire NYC Italian Businessmen's association helping me repair my V.W. You are a gift to the world with your patience, kindness, and realness! Thank you from my heart! Mille Grazie!

    My son's girlfriend has a 2009 Tiquan and her fuel gauge is not reading and stays on empty. Can I replace the sender only or do you have to replace the complete pump assembly? Also, which side is the sending unit on? Thanks for the great video!

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  Місяць тому +1

      I believe it’s as an assembly, most are on the passenger rear

    Thanks for this video, why do you replace the fuel pump? Can you tell us the symptoms of fuel pump failure?

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  Рік тому +3

      There are many symptoms but most popular are no start, low fuel pressure. The case of this car was low fuel pressure. However, on these vw’s there is a fuel pump module that can cause what explained above. I have a video on that as well.

    Thanks for the great Vid! I need to drain my Tiguan fuel tank , since I accidentally put an oil additive , (nulon engine repair), in the gas tank!!! - Immediately realised (horror)- so I didn't start the engine - So anyway - would removing the fuel pump and siphoning the tank fro there be the best approach? Would greatly appreciate your advice.

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  10 місяців тому +1

      I’d think, yes that would be easier than dropping the tank.

      @@Motorcarnut Thanks - yes well I managed to syphon the tanks from both of the fuel pump openings - I didn't remove the fuel pumps - I was able to get the syphon (hand pump) hose down beside them. Refilled the tank and so far everything seems good ( touch wood) - what a nut! Thanks for your video, it helped a lot , especially with how to open the seal and unplug those fittings on top ( and good tips with no metal objects and detaching the neg battery terminal!!). 👍

    Hi Moto.
    I've been having trouble with a 2016 Tiguan. Only half of the saddle tank is pumping through, so the vehicle reads it still has a quater tank, yet it is dying due to lack of fuel.
    Any ideas???
    Thank you!

      Did you check or replace the fuel pump module? They are known for failure.

    I was told by Volkswagen that my 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan has two fuel pumps. Can you please explain to me where both fuel pumps are?

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  10 місяців тому

      Yes, primary is on the passenger side under the rear seat secondary is on drivers side under rear seat.

      One is on the engine (high pressure fuel pump), other is as seen in the video.

    Hey me again! I watched your video on replacing the waterpump in my 2.0. Now I got fuel leaking from the engine! The fuel starts leaking as soon as I add power to the car, without me trying to start it. It will leak as soon as I put the key fob on the first position and car powers up so I am assuming the pump that's somewhere by the engine? Which one is that and do you have a video on it? Thank you

      When you put the manifold back on did you tighten the steel fuel line that goes to the high pressure fuel pump? Also the fuel lines on the passenger side near firewall. When is the fuel coming from?

    • @MysteryScienceGaming
      @MysteryScienceGaming 8 місяців тому

      @@Motorcarnut from my amateur research I think it might be vacuum pump gasket? Also, another issue when the temperature dropped was the car would not stay on from a cold startup. Could that be related to the gasket? Also, looking at the car the leak is on the driver side and appears to be coming from under the mechanical fuel pump/vacuum pump. Car has 117k miles. What do you think? Thank you
      also car has been fine for the past 7k miles since I watched your video and did repair. It just started leaking yesterday.

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  8 місяців тому

      @MysteryScienceGaming Oh, this just stated happening. Ok, the only way it can leak fuel there is that steel line nut that may be loose that goes to the hpfp and the rubber vent hose there as well. Vacuum pump won’t leak fuel. And the reason for the cold start problem is probably because of the fuel leak. I wouldn’t drive the car like that because it can go on fire.

      @@Motorcarnut hey again so I just had a chance to dig into it. It is definitely something with the injector failing. It is spraying out fuel from the side of the injector like crazy. I'm guessing it is one of the seals? Or do you think it could be the injector itself that has failed and is stuck in the open position? I'm going to take it off this week.

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  7 місяців тому +1

      @MysteryScienceGaming probably the seal itself failed.
