Eddie Murphy is one few people left in that iconic class of Celebrities. Like he was in the leagues of Tyson, Jordan, Prince, Ali... those true icons. Only person I would put in a class above, would be Michael Jackson as he is in a class on his own.

I swear, people don't get how FAST Eddie Murphy was a bonafide, legit SUPERSTAR. He was a SUPERSTAR by 22 years old. Started on SNL at 19...within six months, he's hands down the biggest star of the show. By 21, he's carrying the damn show on his back. Beverly Hills Cop...he was 23 when it came out...and he has never been regular since. I don't think there's anyone who had his rise outside of sports. Someone like Michael Jackson, he was a child star. That's different. To go from relative unknown to star at 19, to MEGASTAR by 23...I say to people all the time, he was so great so early, so fast, that we started measuring him against him. He couldn't be what he was, even though a lot of his stuff (Boomerang, Bowfinger, Life) was STILL GOOD.

@@twodopeboys9356 Exactly. Your notion of Nostalgia is why #1 is Norbit. But Norbit, while I thought was cool, was HEAVILY panned by critics. I recognise Coming To America is the GREATEST Black Comedy film of all time, but Another 48 Hrs is a film that I fell in love with as a child so that's why its #1. Harlem Nights, I never really was into cause I didn't recognise the historical importance of the Black Comedians involved in that film, and that's probably why I didn't appreciate it. But between that film and Life, Life wins all the way.
